They came looking?
Isengard was speechless.
Fine! You want to play like this? You're awesome! I'm broke!
Seeing Isengard's expression change again, Kronos laughed heartily, "I was just kidding, look at your face, it's turned green."
After laughing for a while, Kronos said, "I was just kidding, but my suggestion is genuine. I didn't mean to trick you; I just wanted to be friends with you."
Kronos spoke sincerely, Isengard understood this, which eased much of his resentment.
Kronos's suggestion was indeed correct, so after considering it for a while, Isengard chose the Wind-blessed Boots.
"So the deal is done?" Kronos asked, looking at Isengard.
Isengard nodded. "The deal is done."
He then continued, "I still hope you won't reveal my identity to others; it really causes me a lot of trouble."
Kronos waved his hand. "Don't worry, I'm not one to keep secrets. I won't tell anyone."
Isengard stared into his eyes for a long while before nodding. "If you can do that, I'll consider it a huge favor I owe you."
Kronos laughed, "Then you're in for a tough time repaying this favor; you might even end up owing more and more."
Isengard asked cautiously, "Did you capture that Artisan?"
Kronos looked at him in surprise. "You're quick on the uptake; you've managed to recruit them."
"The main problem is that I haven't found any other situations where I need to owe someone a favor. Are you planning to have him create Beyonder Item for someone?"
Kronos replied, "Why not? He was unwilling to take on missions before because he was afraid of being unsafe and didn't want to be so high-profile."
"Things are different now. I've placed him in a very safe place. As long as it's not an attack by Demigod, his safety can be guaranteed. But I feel that Demigod probably wouldn't care about a Artisan like him."
Kronos said this to Isengard, and also to show off a little of his power.
Although the Church of Knowledge's Traitor Dragon was a bit cunning, it was undeniably intelligent. In the end, the Church of Knowledge's gamble paid off, so making some advance favor beforehand wasn't a big deal.
Isengard probably understood what Kronos meant, so he said, "How about we exchange contact information?"
Kronos had prepared in advance, so he took a card out of his pocket and handed it to Isengard.
"This is a membership card for the Kain Club. If you want to contact me, you can go to the Kain Club yourself or send someone to do so. Just find any staff member and tell them you want to send Message to 4735, and they will pass the Message on to me."
The name "Kain Club" made Isengard realize with a sudden realization: no wonder they were so rich!
This Club is considered a decent social venue in Backlund, and it has branches in many major cities, not only in the Loen Kingdom, but also in the Feynapotter Kingdom and the Feysac Empire.
This Club may symbolize a good network of connections, while its financial strength is reflected in the Kain Bank behind it.
While Kain Bank cannot compare to state-owned banks, it is still considered one of the top private banks.
However, what makes the Kain Bank most intriguing is not its status, but its mystery.
The entire Kain Bank has many shareholders, but the largest shareholder is extremely mysterious. No one knows his identity; all that is known is that the current general manager is the major shareholder's representative.
And this major shareholder was none other than the Marquis Argel.
Since the Argel Family experienced its darkest hour, every subsequent Marquis has dedicated themselves to securing a stable future for the family.
These industries, hidden behind the scenes, have been developed by generations of Marquis and are now quite large.
By the time of the current Marquis Argel, Kronos's father carefully integrated these resources, which became the Kain Bank and Kain Club as they are today.
Kronos knew all this, which is why he never went there once, because he didn't want this bank and Club to have anything to do with him.
However, since he's not appearing as Kronos now, using this thread to transmit Message carries little risk.
At this moment, Isengard's spy instincts kicked in. "Passing Message through the Kain Club, so who is your connection with that major shareholder of the Kain Bank...?"
Kronos glanced at him briefly. "I know him, but I can't say anything else."
"Alright, alright, I won't ask anymore." Isengard knew when to stop.
"Then if I need to contact you, I'll go to the Kain Club," Isengard said, taking the membership card from Kronos.
Kronos nodded and said, "That's all. I'll be going if there's nothing else."
Upon hearing what Kronos said, Isengard quickly helped him pack his things, putting the War Blade, hat, and gauntlets back into the bag and handing them to Kronos.
Kronos took the bag and left Isengard's house.
Sitting in the carriage, Kronos hesitated, unsure whether to return to the Manor or stay in Backlund.
Logically, the Church of Steam and Machinery would come back to find him; if he didn't want to see them, he should have hidden himself away.
But Kronos knew perfectly well that he couldn't hide for long. If people really wanted to find him, they could find him even in the outer Manor.
This constant hiding isn't a good idea. I'm just making a gesture for the Royal Family, not actually trying to cut ties with the Church of Steam and Machinery forever.
After thinking for a long time, Kronos decided to stay in the city and see the Church of Steam and Machinery if they came looking for him again.
In that case, Kronos ordered the carriage driver to head to the Villa in the Saint George District.
Having too many houses is really not a good thing; too many choices can be a headache.
The carriage had just entered the Saint George District and hadn't gone far when it stopped.
Kronos is currently studying 2-081. This Sealed Artifact perfectly Replication the Beyonder Ability of the White Tower Pathway Sequence 6 Polymath, so if he can study it properly, he might be able to create a Scroll.
Seeing the carriage stop, Kronos asked, "What's wrong? We shouldn't be there yet. Why have you stopped?"
As he spoke, Kronos lifted the barrier in front of him and glanced outside.
Kronos's groom was found tightly bound by a blue rope of light, and his mouth was gagged.
Looking further ahead, one could see a person standing in front of the carriage. This person looked to be around thirty years old, dressed in White Robes of a Clergy, and holding a blue Walking Stick in his hand.
Kronos had never seen this person before, but he recognized the White Robes; they belonged to the Church of Steam and Machinery.
Kronos instantly activated his Eyes of Mystery Prying and looked straight ahead, all he could see was a pure blue.
This blue ability, in essence, is very similar to the Star Sand, the core ability of Astronomer.
Therefore, Kronos concluded that this should be Sequence 5 of the Paragon Pathway, the Astronomer.
Astronomer are Sequence 5 of the Hermit Pathway. Based on mystical knowledge, they construct their attack methods using Star Sand as the core, and most of their attacks are mystical.
Astronomer, however, are different. As the first Sequence with attack capabilities in the Paragon Pathway, Astronomer ' attack methods are all based on existing knowledge, utilizing knowledge of physics and chemistry, and constructing real-world objects with starlight.
As long as there is abundant starlight, it is possible to construct an Ironclad, although it may take a long time.
This method is quite powerful, which is why it barely makes up for the fact that the preceding Sequence of this Pathway have no attack methods at all.
An Astronomer would likely hold a high position within the Steam Church. For example, Ikanser, the Captain of the Machinery Hivemind in the Backlund Diocese, is an Astronomer who has just entered Sequence 5.
After assessing the man's identity, Kronos quickly alighted from his carriage, approached him, bowed, and said, "My lord, please release my stable boy first. Tell me your demands."
The man glanced at Kronos and said, "We've invited you several times, but you wouldn't come. You even hid away in the end. We had no choice but to come and find you in person."
"I had no choice. The Royal Family just gave us a warning, so I really didn't dare to go to Saint Hilleran Cathedral openly. As for sneaking out, I was just going home to find something, it wasn't intentional. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come back today," Kronos quickly explained.
Perhaps believing Kronos's "nonsense," or perhaps simply too lazy to argue with him, the man withdrew the starlight that had bound the coachman.
After releasing the coachman, the man looked at Kronos and introduced himself, "My name is Nosk, and I am the bishop of Saint Hilleran Cathedral."
The name sounded familiar; Kronos was certain he had heard it before. After a moment's thought, he pinpointed its origin.
"Are you Archbishop Horamick's adopted son?"
Because it was already dark and visibility was poor, Kronos didn't see Nosk's suddenly grim expression.
Nosk was adopted and raised by Archbishop Horamick from a young age, but they were never father and son; Nosk was merely Horamick's student.
Of course, Nosk didn't object to being adopted, but he hated outsiders gossiping about his relationship with his teacher, so the word "adopted son" almost ignited his anger.
After calming his anger slightly, he knew that Kronos was unlikely to know the inside story, so he asked, "Who told you this, adopted son?"
