Marquis Argel's decision
In fact, Kronos was extremely anxious while waiting.
Who knows if someone will actually check the authenticity of those items? If they are discovered, I could suffer a huge loss.
His heart pounded in his Chest, but Kronos sat calmly in the Church hall, staring blankly at the Symbol representing the God of Steam and Machinery.
This agonizing time passed very slowly, but thankfully no one came looking for him until the very end.
Seeing that it was almost time, Kronos got up and left Saint Hilleran Cathedral without hesitation.
Just after Kronos left the Church, two people came out from behind and watched his departing figure.
"Teacher, why don't we see him?" Nosk asked.
Horamick smiled but didn't answer. Instead, he said, "What a promising talent. If only he weren't from the Argel Family."
Kronos made his way home, and only then did his violently beating heart finally calm down.
After all that commotion, Kronos was feeling quite exhausted, so he washed up a bit and rested after getting home.
The next day, Kronos returned to his previous routine, maintaining a healthy daily schedule and spending most of his time continuing his research on Skill Scroll.
As for the Research Center, Kronos entrusted the entire matter to Professor Portland.
Although Kronos was the one who provided the funding, he knew that he knew absolutely nothing about building Research Center; he had neither studied architecture nor had he ever actually seen one.
So it's better to find someone knowledgeable to manage it, and you can enjoy a more relaxed life.
Professor Portland has become even busier, with work at Backlund University, the reorganization of Backlund Technical College, and now a Research Center.
Kronos suddenly started sneezing more often, and he suspected that Portland was talking about him behind his back.
With his previous success, Kronos felt more adept at developing new skills.
The Punishment of Disciplinary Paladin is actually a variation of the Decree. The Decree is more about limiting through Rules, while Punishment is about Punishment through Rules.
Because of his healthy lifestyle, Kronos was in exceptionally good condition every morning, and several times he almost got into the zone and successfully completed the Scroll.
One afternoon, there was a knock on Kronos's door.
He had instructed that he should not be disturbed unless it was something important, so a knock on the door meant that something truly important had happened.
"Come in." Kronos was still practicing the skill, so he didn't look up, only calling out.
A moment later, a person came to Kronos's desk, stood still, and said nothing.
Kronos was a little confused, but he didn't disrupt his program. Although the chances of success were slim, he still had to take it seriously.
After utterly failing, Kronos raised his head and looked at the person in front of him.
Then he said in surprise, "Butler? Why are you back? Have my father and the others returned as well?"
With so many properties owned by the Argel Family, each one should ideally have a Butler. Otherwise, when they stay temporarily, they might encounter many problems due to their unfamiliarity with the properties.
However, not Butler Butler are the same; the ones I just mentioned only help manage the house.
A true Butler should be an absolute Confidant, someone who knows many secrets and helps handle many matters.
So although everyone is called Butler, they are usually distinguished by their surname or given name.
Within the Argel Family, the term "Butler" specifically refers to one person: the Butler of Marquis Argel.
Butler Kronos look up, the butler bowed. "The Marquis and the others are still in the Midseashire. I returned on my own. The Marquis asked me to bring you a letter."
After he finished speaking, the Butler handed him an envelope.
Kronos was a little confused. There are many ways to send a message. Telegraph is very convenient. If you are worried about leaks, you can use the highest level of security code.
If you still feel unsafe, you can use Kronos's Messenger, which is fast and safe. But why send just one person back? Just to deliver a message?
With these questions in mind, Kronos opened the letter in his hand.
"Hello, my dear son:"
"When you see this letter, you'll probably be wondering why I specifically sent my Butler to deliver it to you. There are indeed many ways to send a letter to you, but there are some things that only my Butler can assist you with, so I had him bring this letter along."
"Ever since we returned to Midseashire, your grandfather has been trying to persuade me to stay Midseashire, because it would be safer for me after I advance to Sequence 5."
"After careful consideration, I have decided to do as your grandfather suggested and move my life from Backlund to Midseashire."
"But we can't just abandon the foundation the family has built in Backlund. You can't do this well on your own, so I'm sending the Butler back to help you move everything that can be moved from Backlund to Midseashire."
"However, some foundations and industries cannot be moved, so I hope you can step in and send them to suitable people, both to properly settle them and to further build connections."
"As for the Research Center Project you've been pushing forward, don't worry. The family has deep roots in Backlund, and relocating it will take a long time. It shouldn't be completed before the Research Center is finished."
"But if you don't want to come back to Midseashire and prefer Backlund, you can decide for yourself. You're grown up now and can take control of your own life, so we won't interfere."
"But I still hope you can come back every now and then. Your mother and Younger Sister miss you very much."
After reading the Marquis Argel's letter, Kronos finally understood why his right-hand man had been sent here.
The letter was right. If he were solely responsible for the transfer of family assets, he would be like a headless fly, bumping around aimlessly.
But now that the Butler has arrived, he can finally relax and be a lazy bum.
As his father's most trusted Confidant, he was absolutely qualified to lead his men in a rampage of slaughter, Butler Kronos and the like.
Kronos glanced at the Butler, then waved the letter in his hand and asked, "Do you know the mission you came back for?"
The Butler nodded. "I'm back to assist you in transferring the family's assets."
Kronos nodded. Since he already knew, there was no need for him to waste his breath explaining.
"Do you have any ideas?" Kronos asked.
The Butler thought for a moment, then said, "I guess so. I was thinking about it on the way back."
"Alright, tell us about it first."
"The Argel Family's assets in Backlund are divided into several categories. First, there are real estates. These houses cannot be moved, but they can be cashed out and the family can leave with the money. However, after my calculations, I found that the family owns nearly a hundred properties in Backlund, and these properties cannot be cashed out in a short period of time."
"Furthermore, the house prices in Backlund are indeed very promising, having risen for over a decade. So I feel that we can actually keep these properties and there's no need to convert them into cash. Of course, the final decision is yours."
Kronos didn't speak, but gestured for him to continue.
Having understood Kronos's meaning, the Butler continued, "The second category is valuable items stored in various properties. I believe that apart from the necessities of life in each property, the rest can be moved directly back to Midseashire."
"I'll contact the railway company and hire a Steam Train. That way, we can transport them directly back to Midseashire and ride on that train."
"Next is the most complex type of property: the various companies. The Argel Family has founded many companies in Backlund and has also held stakes in many others."
"As the Marquis suggests, we need to categorize these companies in detail: those that can be held as investments, those that should be fully managed, and those that can be completely abandoned."
"Companies and shares that can be abandoned should be sold off as soon as possible, or used for favors; those that can be fully controlled should be acquired at any cost, and then the entire company should be relocated to Midseashire to prepare for future business plans; as for those that can be held, just continue to hold them, treating them as valuable investments."
Let alone getting Kronos to do it, his head started to ache just hearing about those types.
So he quickly said, "Okay, then hurry up and find my father's Secretary and get the statistics on these types as soon as possible. Don't let my father down!"
The Butler remained silent for a long while before finally asking, "And what about you?"
Kronos boasted shamelessly, "Of course I have an extremely difficult task. I'm in charge of logistical support, ensuring the success of all your operations. I'm your Pillar of support."
The Butler wasn't about to be fooled by such a simple statement, so he bluntly asked, "You mean we'll make a plan and then get your signature to approve the funds, right? Is your arduous task simply signing documents?"
Kronos waved his hand dismissively. "Yes, what a difficult task it is. Tell me, where would you get the money without my signature? So, I'm in charge of the most important part of these tasks."
"Of course, don't be Envy. It's not that my father doesn't trust you; you're all just serving the family!"
