Worrying over nothing
"But I'm a little worried now. Is it too late to send the Message to Kronos at this point? I really didn't dare to go yesterday."
Portland wasn't stupid; he knew Kask ' decision was sound, so he comforted him, "What are you talking about? If you had gone to see him yesterday, you two would probably be in jail now, maybe even in the same cell."
"If the Royal Family acts that quickly, it would have been too late to notify them last night; if Royal Family just want to observe, then notifying them today isn't too late."
You did a good job!
After hearing Portland's words, Kask felt a little relieved and said, "Let's not talk about this now. You should go quickly. Don't let this little bit of time delay the Kronos family's affairs."
Portland, naturally aware of the priorities, immediately deactivated the Beyonder Item's power and raised his voice, saying, "We still need to discuss the Research Center with Kronos. Should I go see him now?"
Kask immediately understood. "Go ahead, and let me know when you've come to a conclusion."
Portland simply turned and left.
After leaving the Higher Education Committee, Portland calmly walked into his carriage and casually told the driver, "Three Kevin Street, Saint George District, at top speed."
The driver was taken aback, not expecting that Portland's requirements were so inconsistent with his own situation.
In this era, there was no such thing as speeding for vehicles, but horse-drawn carriages had their own limits, and there would always be more than one carriage on the road, so safety had to be considered.
Therefore, the driver kept the carriage speed within a very controllable range, but it was indeed the fastest speed that could be achieved.
The horses pulling the cart trotted all the way to Kronos's house, exhausted by the time they arrived.
Although they weren't made to run wildly, the distance was still considerable, making it no easy task.
The Servants of the Kronos family all knew Portland, so they led Portland directly into the Reception Room and were about to go up to inform Kronos.
"I'll go with them directly; it's very important!" Portland emphasized.
The Servants hesitated, "It's fine if you want to go upstairs, but you can't go into the room with us."
"No problem!" To save time, this is not an issue.
Portland immediately followed the Servants upstairs and waited at the door of Kronos's room.
A short while later, Kronos came out with his Servants.
"What are you doing waiting here? Come in!" Kronos came specifically to welcome Portland.
"Bring two cups of black tea," Kronos said to the Servants after pulling Portland into the house.
Portland quickly interrupted, "You don't need to do anything. Just go down and tell everyone not to disturb our conversation."
Kronos seemed somewhat surprised. Had something important happened recently? Why was Portland being so cautious today?
But regardless, one's own Servants need to speak for their own authority, so he said to the Servants, "Do as Professor Portland says."
Seeing that Kronos had spoken, the Servants naturally left immediately.
After the Servants left, Portland finally spoke, "You don't have anyone watching you here, do you?"
Kronos was taken aback. It seemed that what Portland said was quite important. He then activated his Eyes of Mystery Prying and looked around.
Under the Eyes of Mystery Prying, ordinary objects, ordinary people, objects containing extraordinary power, and Beyonder are clearly distinguished.
After surveying the area, Kronos looked at Portland and said, "I didn't find any surveillance personnel or Beyonder Item."
Portland let out a sigh of relief and said, "That puts my mind at ease. I came here to remind you to be careful."
"What's the Church of Steam and Machinery up to now?" Kronos asked.
"It's not the Church of Steam and Machinery, it's Augustus."
Kronos's eyes suddenly widened, staring intently at Portland.
What's going on? What is Augustus up to now?
Portland continued, "Yesterday, George III summoned Kask to the Royal Palace and, through various subtle means, inquired about you. He..."
Portland relayed everything that Kask had told him to Kronos in one breath.
That's the whole story. I came to find you as soon as I learned about it. I'm not sure if it will interfere with your family matters.
After listening to what Portland had to say, Kronos felt somewhat relieved.
Based on George III's behavior, Kronos could roughly deduce that His Majesty was probably initially unaware of the Argel Family's past.
However, after this incident, perhaps someone in the know told him some history, which made him suddenly want to learn about Kronos and the Argel Family, which is why he chose to ask Kask.
If that's the case, then there's really no big problem. This kind of thing is nothing in the history of the Argel Family; they've weathered all the major storms before, so what's a little bit of this?
"Judging from your expression, it seems there's nothing wrong, right?" Portland asked.
"Don't worry, it's nothing serious. I just need to inform my father," Kronos said confidently.
"That's good. Kask was particularly worried that it would interfere with your family's affairs."
Kronos smiled and said, "Actually, Mr. Kask's thinking is quite accurate. It's not a good time for us to meet, so I'll have to trouble you to convey my gratitude."
"These are minor matters. As long as they don't affect you, I'm about to leave. You should contact Marquis Argel as soon as possible. I won't keep you any longer."
With that, Portland got up to leave.
Kronos wanted to try and persuade him to stay, but he realized he needed to contact his father as soon as possible, so he didn't.
But Kronos still got up and followed Professor Portland out, seeing him all the way to the carriage.
After returning to his room, Kronos picked up the paper and pen on the Table and began to write a letter to the Marquis Argel.
Today's matter was somewhat urgent, so Kronos decided to use Messenger to deliver the message, which is why he wrote the letter directly in writing instead of using coded Symbol.
A letter was quickly written, in which Kronos recounted everything that had happened in the past two days and advised the Marquis Argel that he should cease all family activities.
The Royal Family may choose to monitor the Argel Family in the long term, but it is definitely not going to be comprehensive.
Comprehensive surveillance requires a lot of manpower and resources, and it might be possible to maintain it for a month or two. However, for the Argel Family, it is not suitable to fight a protracted war with this kind of force.
So once they got away with it for the first month, it became much easier to evade surveillance when doing anything else.
Therefore, it's not suitable to move now; we should keep ourselves well hidden.
Because it was delivered by Messenger Lady, the letter quickly reached the Marquis Argel.
When the letter was read, the Marquis Argel was with the Old Man, so the Old Man naturally saw it as well.
"Kronos has grown up too!" the Old Man exclaimed.
But the Marquis Argel had no interest in that topic. Instead, he asked the Old Man, "Did you suddenly feel like you were being watched yesterday?"
The Old Man chuckled and pointed to the Church where they were. "Just some intelligence agents with Beyonder Item? To see through this Church, the Founder of the Nation would have to come in person."
"But I did have that feeling for a moment yesterday. I didn't actually see any Beyonder Ability being used, but I just inexplicably felt like someone was watching me."
Since the Marquis Argel did not live in the Church, he would not be hidden from Church.
The Old Man stroked his chin and said, "You're already at Sequence 5, yet the Eyes of Mystery Prying hasn't detected any trace of you. That can only mean that the person or thing being monitored is of a higher rank than you."
"Either the Royal Family sends a Demigod, or they possess Demigod- level Sealed Artifact; this lineup is quite formidable."
Marquis Argel nodded solemnly. "Then it seems that Kronos's suggestion is very timely; we should indeed remain hidden for a while."
Less than an hour later, a Telegraph was sent from Midseashire to many places throughout the Northern Continent, and many people who were on the move fell silent.
Unbeknownst to them, yesterday, after Prince Grove spoke with George III, he traveled directly through the Spirit World to the Midseashire.
However, he did not come to investigate the Argel Family's businesses, so he did not discover anything about their business layout.
His main purpose was to investigate the Beyonder abilities of the Argel Family.
In the Midseashire, the Argel Family only has two Sequence 5, namely the two Marquis Argel.
The entire Argel Family only has four Sequence 5 members: the Old Man, Marquis Argel, Mr. Todd Reaper appeared before, and Mr. Kino, the Guardian has been watching over the Storeroom on Backlund's side.
Kino and Todd are somewhat different. Todd was recruited by the Marquis Argel, while Kino was trained by the family. Therefore, Kino can always guard the Argel Family's heritage.
Prince Grove observed all four of them throughout the night; in fact, Kronos received the same treatment, though he was unaware of it.
Fortunately, he wasn't good Pathway observation, and his Concealment of Time was effective enough, so Prince Grove didn't notice anything, otherwise he would have died last night.
After observing the situation, Prince Grove reported back to George III this morning.
Therefore, the Royal Family's actions were already completed before Kronos received this Message. As for Kask's speculation, Kronos's suggestion, and Marquis Argel's decision, they were all unfounded worries.
