Will
Half a bottle of the Potions was poured out, and Potions quickly began to corrode the corpses. Just as Ernes had described, within minutes, all the corpses had turned into a pool of thick liquid.
Ernes and the men who were tasked with following Kronos today were hiding in a tree right next to Jason's house.
"No wonder he contacted me today, subtly asking if I had any of those highly corrosive Potions. He really needed to dispose of the corpses. I've followed him for so long, I never imagined he could be so ruthless, killing so many people."
Upon hearing Ernes's words, the Vampire beside him coughed and said, "Lord Ernes, you misunderstand. These weren't killed by Kronos. Only that one body was the freshest; the rest were killed by the person he killed."
Ernes felt something was off today, which is why he came to check on things; naturally, he was unaware of what had happened before.
Watching Kronos deal with so many corpses, Ernes was less inclined to continue his friendship with him; after all, no one would willingly approach a bloodthirsty person.
But after hearing the explanation, Ernes felt much more at ease.
The two watched as Kronos buried the thick liquid underground before Ernes left.
Kronos has always been a good sleeper and has never had the habit of being in a different bed, so he slept soundly in Jason's bed yesterday.
But today seems a little different.
Even before falling asleep, Kronos felt particularly uneasy, as if a pair of eyes were watching him.
After thoroughly inspecting the entire house, Kronos confirmed that there was nothing to spy on or monitor before finally managing Kronos fall asleep peacefully.
But once she fell asleep, she was plunged into a nightmare.
Kronos wasn't unfamiliar with dreams, but this was the first time he had ever experienced one so vividly. Kronos five senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch—were incredibly realistic, to the point that Kronos didn't even Consciousness it was a dream.
In the dream, Jason's Devil Dog returned for revenge. It had some kind of extraordinary encounter and had actually become Demigod, and it kept chasing after Kronos.
Faced with this dog, Kronos had no ability to retaliate; his attacks couldn't even cause any damage, so he could only run away.
But this dog was incredibly fast, and it just kept running right behind him.
It was completely in a teasing manner towards Kronos, slapping him one minute and biting him the next, but not killing him, just chasing after him like that.
Kronos was furious, but there was nothing he could do.
All we can do is fight back against it again and again, hoping that one time it will work.
The man and the dog chased each other until they reached a Woods. The grove was quite dense, which Kronos saw as a good opportunity to escape. Perhaps due to his advancement, the Devil Dog had grown to a very large size, like a horse, so many places that Kronos could pass through were not so easy for it.
So Kronos saw an opportunity and charged straight into the dense forest, deliberately taking narrower routes that the Devil Dog couldn't pass through, forcing them to find other paths and wasting time.
As it turned out, Kronos realized he had completely misjudged the situation. A Demigod- level Paranormal Creature didn't need any Beyonder Ability; its physical strength alone was enough to smash through the tree in front of it.
So the Devil Dog just charged wildly, crashing its way in.
Kronos was truly helpless; was there really no other way?
Just then, Kronos suddenly remembered a power he had never used since he acquired it: the Curse of Time.
He gained this ability after being promoted to Scroll Professor, but he had never used it, mainly because he hadn't encountered an opponent who needed it. Even Jason, Kronos defeated quite decisively.
But now, Kronos felt he had no choice but to use this opponent, and even after using him, he wasn't sure he could escape.
Kronos focused his Spirituality and immediately prepared to unleash the Curse of Time.
The next moment, Kronos was stunned; he couldn't sense his own skill.
Not only was Curse of Time, but all the skills the Time Stone had granted him also vanished.
He then examined the area more closely and discovered that the Time Stone had also disappeared.
After a moment of panic, Kronos quickly regained his composure and began to consider what had happened.
Kronos's journey began with this gem; surely the whole thing couldn't be an illusion, since he can still use Scroll and has a Devil Dog following him!
If time travel is real, then where did the Time Stone go?
Upon closer reflection, Kronos realized something was amiss. He remembered falling asleep, specifically at Jason's House. How did he suddenly end up here?
Was this a dream?
Kronos never experienced such a vivid dream, but he believed it was still possible for it to happen.
Even if it's a dream, it's still my own dream. How could I not use my own abilities?
Unless... the creator of this dream is not himself, and this person only knows that he is the Scroll Professor, but does not know about his cheat ability, and therefore cannot imagine his own abilities.
This conjecture is quite frightening; it's clear they've been targeted by a powerful figure.
Outside of dreams, in the Real World.
A little boy stood beside Kronos's bed, staring at Kronos with a ferocious expression.
This expression suggests a readiness to strike at any moment, yet occasionally there's a hint of hesitation and struggle.
After a long while, the little boy slowly raised his hand and reached out to Kronos.
At that critical moment, a voice rang out behind him, "Such a sneak attack is rather unbecoming of your status."
The little boy turned his head and saw two people walking out of the Spirit World. To be precise, they weren't human, because they were Kronos's Messenger and Duke of the Full Moon Olmer of the Full Moon.
It was Olmer who spoke, but the little boy completely ignored Olmer, instead staring in shock at Kronos's Messenger, "It's you? You've actually Resurrection?"
The Messenger Lady didn't speak, but simply nodded to the little boy.
The little boy observed carefully for a moment before saying, "So that's how it is. You haven't completely Resurrection."
Olmer chuckled softly from the side, "Speaker, is there any way you can help?"
This little boy is none other than Will Onsett, the Snake of Mercury, the Chairman of the Council of Fate of the School of Life, the Sequence One Wheel of Fortune Pathway.
Will was silent for a moment, then spoke up, "If I wanted to harm him, would you all stop me?"
After saying that, Will pointed to Kronos on the bed.
With His abilities, He naturally saw the Fate between Kronos and the Sanguine; the two sides complemented each other, which explains why He was attracted to them.
Will fell silent again, because he didn't know what to choose.
Olmer glanced at the Messenger Lady and said, "Most Beyonder in this world probably envy your Pathway, which allows you to avoid misfortune and achieve near-invincibility."
Will didn't speak, he just looked down at the ground.
Olmer continued, "But at our level, we all know that your Pathway actually has the greatest limitations."
"Every Angel hopes to retain more humanity rather than be replaced by divinity, but your Pathway makes this difficult. The guidance of Fate is there, Fate does not allow you to act willfully."
Upon hearing this, Will immediately raised his head, his blood-red eyes fixed on Olmer.
An ordinary Sequence 4 would probably have been killed by that one glance, but Olmer was an Angel, and a very senior Angel at that, so he calmly met Will's gaze.
"What exactly are you trying to say?" Will, enunciating each word clearly.
Olmer, still smiling, said, "I don't know why you want to kill him, but I know that if it were Fate, you would probably have done it already without hesitation."
"We've been here for a while now, watching your struggles. If Fate guides you to kill him, we probably won't stop you, because we know that Fate's guidance for the Snake of Mercury might be the best outcome."
"But it seems that's not the case. Fate doesn't want him to die; it's that you want him to die, and that's when we naturally step in to stop it."
Will suddenly swore, "You bastards, what do you know? Do you know how much this will affect me? What right do you have to stop me?"
Olmer, unfazed, continued, "You certainly understand Fate better than I do. Do you feel that if you kill him, Fate will correct itself in the direction you desire? Or is there a greater chance that things will turn out worse?"
Will was speechless, because Olmer was right. Beyonder on the Wheel of Fortune Pathway had more or less experienced going against the guidance of Fate a few times. Perhaps it wouldn't endanger their lives in the end, but they would eventually feel that it would have been better to go with the Fate, because the correction of Fate is fundamentally uncontrollable.
The goals you try to achieve by defying Fate will basically be corrected by Fate.
"But... do you know what I'm going to face?" Will's tone was full of grievance, and combined with his current appearance, his charm towards women was off the charts.
But the woman opposite him wasn't buying it at all, coldly replying, "It's better than... being... killed... by... U... Lolius..."
Will was speechless. There was no way to refute that. Even being in a terrible situation was better than being killed, so there was nothing wrong with that.
When the two of them appeared, Will knew he probably had no chance, especially since he was still hesitant. So he decided to give up and not gamble on how much Fate would change.
Will glared at Kronos on the bed, then turned and disappeared.
Olmer breathed a sigh of relief, then said to the Messenger Lady, "Luckily, they arrived in time."
The Messenger Lady didn't speak, but simply reached out and tore open the barrier between the spirit world and the Spirit World, then went inside.
Seeing that He did not respond, Olmer shook his head with a wry smile and followed him inside.
In his dream, Kronos made a guess, but dared not utter it aloud, and his expression did not even change.
He was fairly certain that this powerful figure couldn't read his thoughts, otherwise the secret of his Time Stone would have been exposed. Since he was alright for the time being, he could only play along with this powerful figure and find out how he had offended him.
Kronos was now a little confused; how had he fallen for this trap?
Concealment of Time can be concealed even by Outer Deity like the Mother Tree of Desire, then who could be plotting against themselves?
Could it be the Great Old One? But where is the Great Old One now?
Is it the Mother Goddess of Depravity? Because of her Oldest One awakening, she lost the Beyonder Characteristic of the Mother and the Moon Pathway, as well as a portion of the Brood Hive. Although she lost the power of the Pillar, the symbolism of the Pillar remains. Could it be her?
Or perhaps it's the Dark Side of the Universe, Farbauti, who has intervened?
He lived in Jason's house, and perhaps there really was some arrangement in that house from the Abyss, which was why he felt uneasy before going to sleep, but he never found out in the end.
If that's the case, with prior arrangements, the Concealment of Time makes it difficult to prevent.
Just as Kronos was pondering, the Devil Dog behind him suddenly vanished, along with everything around him, leaving only a pitch-black space. Kronos was in this space, unable to see anything, and could only grope his way forward.
"Hey, is anyone there? What's going on?" Kronos was initially quite calm, but as time passed, his panic grew stronger. That's when he finally called out, not to call out to anyone, but just to have some sound so he could feel a little more at ease.
But to his surprise, the entire space lit up immediately after he shouted that.
A giant, silvery-white Giant Snake appeared before him, its crimson eyes coldly fixed on Kronos.
Kronos was startled, then quickly realized that it was Will Onsett who had come to his door.
He was terrified. The chance of being casually killed by someone who had secretly investigated a Sequence One was probably close to 100%.
Despite Will's amiable demeanor in the original work, Kronos believes this is entirely based on the premise that Klein is the protagonist.
Not to mention Will, all the other big shots were very kind to him.
The Black Goddess prepared so much, she practically fed him herself; the Lord of Storms was called by name several times, but he only attacked his enemies, without even being accidentally injured. Kronos wouldn't dare to hope for such treatment.
Just as he was thinking about what to say, the Giant Snake spoke first, "Judging from your appearance, you should know who I am, so it's no coincidence that you had someone investigate me. Tell me, what is the reason?"
Will was so direct, Kronos had no choice but to tell the truth, "Speaker, I just want to get on your good side and see if you can sell me a drop of blood so I can use it when I advance to Demigod."
Without the slightest hesitation, the Giant Snake replied, "Impossible. Don't even think about it. Not killing you is already a great act of leniency."
Kronos, unaware of what was happening outside, assumed Will was angry because of his investigation of Him, so he quickly said, "No, Speaker, I'm willing to be Punishment, but please don't be angry with me. I meant no harm."
The Giant Snake stared at him for a long time before saying, "I advise you to give up. Our Sequence does indeed have two Angel, but you won't find them. If you want to advance to Demigod, try using other blood."
"Most importantly, don't try to go after Ouroboros. He'll likely kill you. Don't waste your life. I want to see how far you can go."
As soon as he finished speaking, the Giant Snake burst like a bubble, and Kronos was jolted awake from his dream.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Kronos got up and poured himself a glass of water.
He was still somewhat puzzled. Could it be that the Concealment of Time couldn't prevent the Wheel of Fortune Pathway?
As he passed the desk, he noticed a paper crane on a stack of papers on the table.
Kronos took a closer look and saw that this was the stack of investigation results that Isengard had given him earlier that day.
He now understood how he had fallen for it.
Will discovered Isengard, but took no action. Perhaps his attempts to find him were thwarted by the Concealment of Time, preventing him from finding Kronos.
So He secretly tampered with Isengard's research data, and thus found Himself through the data.
The Concealment of Time can only defend against methods like divination and observation; it cannot grant immunity to all mystical supernatural abilities. Otherwise, wouldn't one be invincible?
So when Will went to find Kronos, everything was naturally exposed to the Snake of Mercury.
Kronos, naturally powerless to resist in the hands of this Snake of Mercury, was pulled into His dream.
But Kronos was already content that he hadn't died.
There's only one thing that's unclear: why was He so certain that Ouroboros would kill Him, and why did He tell Him to find other bloodlines to advance? Was this just Will's angry outburst, or some Goodwill advice?
Kronos thought about it for a long time, but still couldn't come to a conclusion.
