Underground Trading Market of Fragrant Tree Leaves
The next day, Kronos was even more eager to go out than Gner, and after breakfast, he dragged Gner out for a stroll.
I had already visited some of the iconic locations yesterday, so today I chose to explore the bustling commercial districts. I didn't have any other purpose than to let more people see him.
Bayam Navy Base
"Admiral Your Excellency, Major Kronos was out shopping with Gner again today, and he even changed his appearance and was wearing Warlock's robe," Lü Er'an reported to Amyrius.
Amyrius's lips curled up slightly; unless someone knew him well, they wouldn't notice the hint of a smile on his usually serious face.
"Is this an act? I always felt you were different from your ancestors; your pursuit of power surpassed theirs," Amyrius thought to himself.
Then he said to Lü Er'an, "Go and say hello Your Excellency Sea King for me, and tell him this is my nephew, and not to make things difficult for him."
Lü Er'an looked at Amyrius with surprise. As a Demigod who governs the Rules, Amyrius rarely made exceptions for others, even when it came to his own brother. He never expected that Emilius would make an exception for someone who was not related to him.
But no matter how surprised he was, Lü Er'an had no right to interfere with Amyrius's decision, so he simply agreed and left.
"Let me see how far you can go," Amyrius muttered to himself.
The two strolled around these bustling areas until dinner time before reluctantly leaving.
Kronos was reluctant to part with was the progress of the digestion, while what Gner was reluctant to part with was the dazzling array of goods displayed in the shop window.
But it really was time to go, because the Beyonder Gathering was starting in two hours, and the two of us needed time to have a meal.
After the two had dinner downstairs at the Inn, Kronos climbed over the wall back to his room and changed his clothes.
Wearing Warlock's robe when playing Warlock is fine, but leaving such an obvious mark when attending a gathering of Beyonder is not a good thing.
However, he can keep his face, because Kronos originally intended to use this face and the name Klein for a long time while at sea. It's just unknown how Gehrman Sparrow will react when he hears this name at sea.
To save himself the trouble, Kronos changed his clothes and jumped out of the window.
Gner led Kronos toward the location of the Beyonder Gathering, which was generally in the direction of the Bar area near the Harbor.
When they arrived at the party location, Kronos immediately understood the name – "Fragrant Tree Leaves Bar".
The extraordinary gathering hosted by "Giant" Ozil; Mr. Fool will also be here three years from now.
Kronos followed Gner through the noisy Bar hall and into a Card Room. Under the watchful eyes of several guards, he gave the agreed-upon signal and descended a hidden staircase to a spacious underground area.
This is an underground market selling herbs, Essential Oil, ancient books, Charm, and various common occult materials. Not only that, but also all kinds of guns and ammunition are sold, and even fake Identity Document documents and counterfeit seals are available.
Perhaps after the Trading Gathering ends, I can browse around here and see if there are any materials that have an affinity with the Power of Time.
Kronos followed Gner straight to the other end of the underground trading market and knocked on the Confinement door with two long knocks followed by four short knocks.
There was only one Candle behind the door, its light shining weakly from the lamp holder on the side wall, barely illuminating the small room.
Gner pointed to the robes and Mask hanging on the wall. "Do you need them?"
Kronos chuckled. "The faces are all fake. What's the point of using these things?"
The guards then led us through a dimly lit corridor into another room.
The place was decorated quite luxuriously, with thick carpets from the Southern Continent covering the floor, and shimmering golden lamps on the walls, while the light from freshly scented Candle spread out in layers.
There were already more than twenty people gathered here, men and women, some wearing hooded robes, and some openly showing their true faces.
As described in the original work, not all attendees at this gathering were Beyonder; there were also representatives of certain factions, adventurers, Pirate, and occult enthusiasts who aspired to become Beyonder.
Gner's timing was impeccable. After the two sat down, the old man in the armchair straightened his back, clasped his hands, and chuckled, "Let's begin."
This is the organizer of the gathering, "Giant" Ozil, a former famous Pirate and now the behind-the-scenes Boss of the Fragrant Tree Leaves Bar.
According to Kronos, this person was a Pirate informant, perhaps for multiple Pirate, or possibly specifically for one.
In the original novel, he once released a commission for "Vice Admiral of Ailment" Tracy and had a good relationship with Tracy's third Smooth Talker "Thor.
Thor King became Tracy's third mate after the death of "Vice Admiral Hurricane" Qilingus; he was previously a Captain in the Qilingus Pirate Band.
However, neither Qilingus nor Tracy have become Pirate General yet, so it's unknown whether Ozil has made any connections with Thor.
But it didn't matter to Kronos, because he wasn't as poor as Mr. Fool, nor was he interested in hunting Pirate, and most importantly, he wasn't strong enough.
As the transactions were completed one by one, Kronos saw nothing that interested him.
Since those Potion Formula lacked Notary authentication, Kronos had no interest in wasting money on them. As for Beyonder Item, they were already rare commodities at this Low Sequence Trading Gathering.
On the contrary, a single Trading Gathering helped Gner gather the two main ingredients and all the auxiliary ingredients for the Weapon Master Potion, leaving only the Stone Monster Powder missing.
Just as Kronos was getting sleepy, a voice rang out. "For sale an Beyonder Weapons, the Radiant Flame War Blade. Its only Beyonder Ability is that it can be War Blade with the Fire of Light, making it more lethal against Undead Creature. The weapon's effect will last for a year."
Finally, something good has appeared. This thing isn't of interest to Kronos, but it's very useful to Gner.
Before the seller could even make an offer, Kronos said directly, "You don't need to make an offer. Seven hundred pounds, I don't want any more."
To be honest, this price was quite high; normally, this War Blade would only cost around six hundred pounds, so the seller agreed on the spot.
Kronos counted out seventy banknotes, handed them to the seller of the War Blade, and then took the War Blade from the seller.
After returning to his seat, Kronos drew his War Blade, examined it, and then casually tossed it to Gner, saying, "Here, take this."
Gner asked in confusion, "For me? Why didn't you keep it for yourself?"
"It doesn't matter whether I use it or that Walking Stick, you're stronger with a knife."
"Alright then," Gner said, and didn't refuse any further.
In the past, Gner might not have dared to take something worth seven hundred pounds, but in the last two days, Kronos has bought Gner more than seven hundred pounds worth of Western Capital, not to mention Kronos himself.
Being around such a wealthy and powerful man, Gner has started to value money more than anything else.
The Trading Gathering ended quickly, and after everyone else had left, Gner brought Kronos to Ozil's side.
"Boss Ozil, this is my friend. He's quite influential in the Mid-Sequence. He's the friend I told you about before, the one I wanted you to introduce me to," Gner said to Ozil.
Gner had mentioned this to Ozil on the very day he met him. At that time, Ozil asked him to bring this friend along so he could audit him.
If it weren't for Kronos's actions of buying the Radiant Flame War Blade at a high price and then giving it to Gner, Ozil would have definitely given this "newcomer" a good test.
But now, Ozil felt it was unnecessary. It was just a Trading Gathering introduction, and there was no need to be so cautious in Bayam. Besides, it wouldn't be a loss to make friends with a Mid-Sequence Beyonder, so he readily agreed.
"Come find me at the Bar upstairs at six o'clock in the evening three days from now, and then I'll take you there," Ozil said to Kronos.
This statement does not include Gner, because he does not meet the requirements; one cannot integrate into this circle until reaching the Mid-Sequence.
Kronos nodded and said, "No problem, then I'll leave it to Boss Ozil."
"What's the trouble? Let's just be friends."
Regardless of whether Ozil was Pirate informant or not, he was a very generous and straightforward person, and probably not the kind of treacherous and vicious guy that Kronos disliked.
The three chatted for a while, and then Ozil left the room.
As Gner prepared to leave with Kronos, Kronos said to Gner, "You can wait for me in the Bar upstairs. I want to browse this trading market outside and see if I can find some materials for casting Spell."
Gner knew that Kronos was developing new Spell, so he could understand the situation. Besides, he was happy to go upstairs for a drink, so he left alone.
Kronos arrived at the outside trading market and, looking at the nearly one hundred stalls, felt a surge of hope.
Perhaps we can find a material suitable for the Power of Time;
Perhaps it can be used to assist the Symbol of Time in completing a full Spell;
Perhaps this just meets the criteria for Potion digestion.
So Kronos immediately activated his Eyes of Mystery Prying and eagerly headed towards the first stall in front of him.
He secretly resolved to verify everything here today to prevent any slip-throughs from escaping his notice. Even if it was tiring, he could accept it.
