Exploring the ruins
When Sharf said he needed to rest, Kronos and his companion left his residence.
With the creation of the Beyonder Item complete, Kronos suddenly felt a bit empty, as if he had nothing to do.
"Gner, is there anything suitable for me to do in Bayam and the surrounding area?" Kronos had no choice but to ask Gner.
Gner knew Kronos well and knew he wasn't talking about the kind of things like eating, drinking, and having fun, but rather things that could enhance strength or accelerate the digestion of Potion.
Gner thought for a moment, then shook his head. "We have no local connections, so we were unaware of such a thing."
Upon hearing Gner's reply, Kronos fell silent and continued walking towards his lodgings.
Even wearing Warlock robes to stroll around town doesn't work anymore; Kronos now has no desire to even go out and just wants to stay home researching new Spell.
Actually, he wasn't usually this introverted; it was mainly the pressure of digesting the Potion that put so much stress on him.
Especially when he thought about how his father took ten years to digest Warlock Potion and his grandfather took thirteen years, he felt that nothing was meaningful anymore.
Although he had to go through the process of playing a Warlock, which was an extra step compared to his elders, it would still take him roughly four or five years to digest. In that time, Klein would have become Angel.
So after returning to his room, Kronos threw himself back into developing new Spell.
At this point, Kronos Consciousness that even if he could use Time Magic, it would only be a Spirituality transfer using the Time Stone as a transit point, and could not be considered as creating new Spell at all. Therefore, he no longer placed his hopes on Time Magic.
Now Kronos has refocused his attention on the only remaining Pathway —the thief. He couldn't help it; his predecessors were too shrewd, leaving him no other options.
Kronos could only pray that catching a Low Sequence Marauder wouldn't be too difficult and wouldn't attract Amon's attention. Even if it did, the Concealment of Time would protect him.
However, if that choice is made, then there's nothing left to do, because there are very few Beyonder Marauder Pathway, Kronos couldn't think of any other options besides the Hermits of Fate.
The Hermits of Fate is in Backlund, he's now in Bayam, nowhere to be found.
Wait a minute, there seems to be a Marauder at sea!
Kronos racked his brains for a long time before finally recalling a piece of Information: the three "Bow Tie" Yodsen of the Golden Dream were Sequence 6 "Fire Thief" of the Marauder Pathway.
This is a great opportunity, but I wonder if this person is already on the Golden Dream. And "Vice Admiral Iceberg" seems like a good guy; he might be a help in the future. Is it a bad idea to just arrest his third mate like this?
In any case, it's worth going to join in the fun and see the battle between "Vice Admiral Iceberg" and "Vice Admiral Iron Blood," and also check out Yodsen's current situation.
"Sigh!" Kronos suddenly lay down on the bed like a salted fish. This feeling of having pressure in his heart but being unable to do anything about it was really uncomfortable.
Before Kronos could shake off his dejected mood, a knock on the door interrupted his thoughts.
After Kronos got up and Door Opening, he saw Gner standing in the doorway.
"What's wrong?" Since the two had only been separated for less than two hours, Kronos asked.
Gner asked excitedly, "Want to go on an adventure?"
Hearing this, Kronos became interested. "What kind of adventure?"
"I heard about it when I went to the Bar. Some archaeologists on Symeems Island are looking for bodyguards, saying they're searching for some Ruins. Let's just treat it as an adventure!"
Upon Gner this, Kronos's newly sparked interest vanished instantly.
Seeing that Kronos had returned to his listless state, Gner was a little puzzled. Wasn't he just showing a lot of interest?
"What's wrong? Don't you want to go that far?" Gner asked.
"You're overthinking it. How far we go doesn't matter, but we definitely can't go to Symeems Island. It's the lair of the sea god worshipped by the locals; it's too dangerous."
The reason Kalvetua died was because the Moses Ascetic Order took the Book of Calamity from the Symeems Island. Although it is unknown whether this group was from the Moses Ascetic Order of Moses Ascetic Order or Kalvetua, Kronos should keep his distance.
Gner nodded to indicate that he understood, then continued, "The rest isn't so interesting."
"Is there anything else we can do?"
"Nobody in the Bar is interested in this mission. It's from Navy Base, about exploring a Ruins, but the people in charge are from the navy, so everyone thinks it's just a mission to find Cannon Fodder." Gner explained everything he knew in detail.
Kronos was genuinely interested in exploring Ruins, because there might be unexpected discoveries, and even if there weren't, he could still broaden his horizons.
As for Cannon Fodder, Amyrius probably wouldn't let Kronos be used as Cannon Fodder, right?
"Do you know any specific details?" Kronos asked.
Gner replied, "No, those are just things the adventurers in the Bar say, but you can go to the Navy Base entrance; there are people there specifically recruiting."
Just when Kronos was bored, this was his chance.
He immediately grabbed Gner and headed out, since the Navy Base was in the suburbs, making it impractical to walk there.
They hailed a horse-drawn carriage on the street and headed straight for the Navy Base.
There were indeed two officers recruiting adventurers at the entrance of the Navy Base, but unfortunately, not a single one came.
Just as everyone guessed, this was originally a recruitment drive for Cannon Fodder, and the navy didn't hide it, which the adventurers all knew.
However, the reward for this task is quite generous; it was designed from the beginning to be at the level of a resettlement allowance.
Kronos certainly wouldn't join this mission for any "settlement fee," so he didn't go to the recruitment site.
Instead, he went directly to the base entrance and said to the guards, "My name is Kronos. I'm looking for Admiral Amyrius. You can also contact Secretary Lü Er'an."
In reality, if you just arrive at the gate of a military camp and ask to see the highest-ranking commander, it would be strange if the guards at the gate paid you any attention.
But from an angle unseen by anyone, Kronos scattered a handful of spellcasting materials and then cast a "Intimidation.
This Spell comes from the Arbiter's ability; it makes their words very convincing.
So the guard who heard Kronos's words hesitated for a moment, then obediently went to call Secretary Lü Er'an.
Since Amyrius was certain to meet Kronos, the Soldier would not be Punishment, and Kronos could not be considered to have tricked him.
Not long after, Lü Er'an came out personally and welcomed Kronos and his companion inside.
"Major Kronos, His Excellency the General went to inspect the military camp Admiral Your Excellency, so you may need to sit in his office for a while. Also, Mr. Gner cannot accompany him, so I cannot decide to see him on Admiral the General," Lü Er'an said somewhat awkwardly.
Gner reacted quickly, taking over the conversation directly. "I wonder if Secretary Lü Er'an could introduce me to a guide to show me around the base?"
"That's no problem at all, I'll arrange it right now." After saying that, Lü Er'an gave Gner a grateful look.
This was definitely Gner's way of getting Lü Er'an out of a tight spot. Although Kronos wouldn't force Gner to stay by his side, who knows what might happen? So Gner made the decision first, and Kronos couldn't very well object.
Afterwards Lü Er'an summoned a Soldier who took Gner away, and the soldier led Kronos all the way to Amyrius's office, even pouring him a cup of hot tea.
Kronos didn't have to wait long; Amyrius returned in less than half an hour.
"Kronos, is there anything I can help you with?" With the proper demeanor of a soldier, Amyrius cut straight to the point without uttering a single word of preamble.
Seeing Amyrius's attitude, Kronos didn't beat around the bush, "I wanted to ask about your quest to explore the Ruins."
"Why aren't you pretending to be Warlock in the city anymore? You've actually become interested in military missions?" Amyrius teased him.
Kronos was surprised that the Admiral in front of him even knew this, and scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly.
Seeing that Kronos did not answer, Amyrius continued, "We don't know the specifics of this Ruins either. It was Information provided by MI9 a few days ago, and they asked us to explore the Ruins thoroughly."
"But strangely, the Ruins were intact on the outside, requiring a large number of people to excavate them. It's unclear how MI9 obtained this Message."
"So I can't give you any Information, because no one has ever been inside. Everything is unknown. We can only confirm that it's a human Ruins, but whether it's from the Third Epoch or Fourth Epoch is hard to say."
Upon hearing Amyrius's statement, Kronos asked, "So everyone's going in for the first time? Then who's in charge? MI9? Or your Navy Base?"
This matter is very important. If it's MI9, Kronos doesn't know, they might not give him face. Only if it's Navy Base would Kronos consider going in with them.
"Of course it's our Navy Base. MI9 provided Information, they didn't even send anyone."
The next Kronos question was, "If I go, will I receive any special treatment?"
Although Kronos didn't care much about these treatment issues, the army had money, so there was no need to save it money.
