Rituals
Chad discovered from the beginning that Kronos was completely unaffected by his Psychological Suggestion and even alerted his companions.
But he didn't pay attention, perhaps because Lü Er'an had told him about it.
So after "appeasing" everyone, he glanced at Kronos and gave him a friendly smile.
Chad's mission was not only to appease these people, but also to explain the details of the mission to them.
After his explanation, and with the Information Amyrius had revealed a few days earlier, Kronos gained a basic understanding of the mission.
MI9 inexplicably claimed to have discovered a Ruins, but could not provide any details about Ruins external features, only offering its Coordinates.
So all they need to do is reach this Coordinates and find the Ruins.
MI9's suggested method is to "dig," as the Ruins are most likely underground, and they'll find them if they dig.
However, the frustrating thing is that the Coordinates given by MI9 have an error of less than five kilometers, which makes it quite difficult to find the location manually.
Amyrius also felt that this was a bit heartless, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn't muster any more men; the main force was at sea deterring Pirate, so whether it was fifty or thirty men, it didn't make much difference.
Moreover, MI9's primary condition was secrecy; Message could only be kept within a small circle, eliminating the possibility of large-scale excavation.
Kronos had thought he was going to explore a magnificent Ruins, but it turned out to be digging in the deep mountains, and his mood plummeted.
This kind of physically demanding activity was really not suitable for Kronos, so he secretly decided that he would see if he could help locate the Ruins. If he could do that, no contribution could compare to this, and Amyrius's reward would be his.
The group walked for less than 100 kilometers from morning till night.
Around 5 p. m., when the Sun was about to set, Baldwin was thinking of being considerate of these outsiders and was preparing to set up camp and rest.
But to everyone's surprise, they all agreed that they should go all out and didn't want to set up camp at that time.
So they kept traveling until 9 p. m. before finally arriving at their destination.
The destination is in a unique location; it is the only open space in the surrounding environment, without trees or rocks.
Since Amyrius had come once specifically to find this Ruins, there was no need for his own soldiers to do hard labor.
However, to everyone's surprise, even a Demigod couldn't find the Ruins, so Amyrius simply cleared a space and left.
After a day's march, everyone was exhausted, including the Admiral's personal Personal Guards.
So after a short rest, they took turns resting, since someone still needed to keep watch at night.
Logically, such arduous work should be left to outsiders, but how could these Soldier trust a group of Death Row Inmate to keep watch? So, it was finally decided that Baldwin and Chad would each lead three men to take turns keeping watch.
Unlike when he first left Backlund, where he needed a sleeping Potions in the carriage, Kronos can now sleep soundly even in the grass.
So Kronos slept very well that night, sleeping soundly until six o'clock the next morning.
When Kronos emerged from the army tent, Chad was on night watch.
Seeing that Kronos was awake, Chad walked straight over. "Hello, Klein, Secretary Lü Er'an mentioned you to me."
Actually, Kronos was quite nervous when facing Chad, not because he thought Chad was a member of the Psychology Alchemists or the Twilight Hermit Order.
It's because when facing Spectator, the disguise is very likely to be seen through, and you can't just abandon the False Identity you just created.
So Kronos chose a slightly safer approach: to speak and act as little as possible, simply saying, "Um, hello."
He uttered those few words with extreme indifference.
Chad didn't seem to mind, and continued, "You must be a Mid-Sequence Beyonder, right? I don't intend to pry into your secrets, but I'd like to know if you can help with our mission?"
Actually, even without Chad asking, Kronos was also curious about this. "I want to know too."
After saying this, Kronos left Chad's side.
Just when Chad thought that Klein was refusing to communicate, Kronos walked to an open space nearby and began taking things out of his backpack.
It wasn't food or water, nor was it outdoor supplies; it was Candle, Essential Oil, and some other materials.
These things were certainly not in the bag; it was just a trick by Kronos to make it appear as if they were taken out of the bag.
Kronos naturally had many of these Ritual supplies, all prepared by Marquis Argel, for these were, after all, power for an Beyonder Mystery Pryer Pathway.
By this time, some people had begun to wake up, so under the watchful eyes of everyone, Kronos began to prepare his Ritual.
This Ritual is called the Spirit-Seeking Ritual. It's not a unique Ritual, nor is it even Ritual belonging to the Mystery Pryer Pathway.
This is a Ritual invented by Spirit Medium. Later, Beyonder who Corpse Collector Pathway often use this Ritual to search for spirits wandering between heaven and earth, including Nature Spirit and the deceased.
Of course, this Ritual couldn't possibly lead to finding this Ruins. If it were so easy to find, then Amyrius would have wasted his eyes.
In Kronos's plan, four or five Ritual would need to work together to find this Ruins, but the most crucial one would be the Spirit-Seeking Ritual ritual.
Afterwards, Kronos set up four more Ritual in addition to this Ritual: the Amplification Ritual, the Positioning Ritual, the Substitution Ritual, and the Borrowing Power Ritual.
Chad studied them for a long time and could barely understand the first two, but he had no clue about the last two. This was normal, since they were invented by the Argel Family themselves.
After Kronos finished all the Ritual, sweating profusely, he turned to Chad and asked, "Vice Captain Chad, are you Sequence 7 or Sequence 6?"
Chad didn't hide anything, "Sequence 7, only the Captain in our Personal Guards squad is Sequence 6."
Since that was the case, Kronos could only speak to Captain Baldwin, whom he wasn't very familiar with. "Captain Baldwin, I might need your help during the final Ritual. I need to borrow your power. I wonder if you mind?"
Without saying a word, the Personal Guard Captain stepped directly into the Borrowing Power Ritual.
Seeing that Baldwin was cooperating, Kronos began to initiate the Ritual.
The principle behind this setup is to borrow Baldwin's power to temporarily grant Kronos the power of Sequence 6, allowing him to cast a Spirit-Seeking Spell.
However, this Spirit-Seeking Spell and the Spirit-Seeking Ritual are not the same thing. The Spirit-Seeking Ritual seeks out souls, while the Spirit-Seeking Spell seeks out places or objects with strong Spirituality.
Then, the Spirit-Seeking Spell was replaced by Substitution Ritual Spirit-Seeking Ritual, since the range of the Spirit-Seeking Spell was only twenty meters, which was far from enough.
However, the intensity of the Spirit-Seeking Ritual is still somewhat weak, so the Amplification Ritual is designed for this purpose. The final positioning Ritual can then feed back the found location to Kronos's mind.
This was just a reasonable attempt; after all, even Kronos wasn't certain he could find the Ruins.
We know far too little Information. If we knew what was inside the Ruins or whose Ruins they were, the traces would be much easier to find.
After several Ritual had been running for some time, both Kronos and Baldwin had exhausted most of their Spirituality, and Kronos finally stopped.
By this time, everyone had woken up and was looking at Kronos with expectant faces, since no one wanted to do hard labor for days or even weeks.
After sorting through the Information in his mind, Kronos was still somewhat pleased, after all, he hadn't come away empty-handed.
"How is it?" Chad was the first to ask.
Kronos looked around, then pointed in a direction, "The Spirituality in that underground area is stronger than in other places, but we can't be sure if it's the Ruins you're looking for."
Upon hearing this, everyone became excited. At least they had some ideas now, unlike before when they were like headless flies.
Chad remained calm and continued, "Approximately how far?"
After all, MI9 has stated that the margin of error is within five kilometers; if it exceeds that, it might not be accurate.
"My Ritual covers an area of three kilometers. To confirm, we should move two kilometers further in that direction and set it up again."
Although everyone wanted to pinpoint the location now, Kronos and Baldwin really needed some rest, otherwise they might not be able to withstand the second spirit search.
So everyone decided to eat first.
After eating and tidying up, everyone moved about two kilometers in the direction Kronos had pointed out.
Then they began preparations for the second spirit quest. Chad originally wanted to help Kronos set up the Ritual, but after Kronos explained it to him for a long time, he still didn't understand, so he had to give up on that plan.
After a series of operations, Kronos roughly determined the location with the strongest Spirituality.
"It's roughly right beneath our feet. The Spirituality within a kilometer radius is higher than outside that area. I can't pinpoint the exact location, and besides, Ruins should have a certain area, right? It can't be just a single point," Kronos said to Baldwin and Chad, since they were the decision-makers.
After discussing it further, the two decided to start digging on the spot.
Because the hired adventurers were unaware of the mission at the beginning, they lacked digging tools and instead helped the Soldier transport soil outwards. Twenty Soldier and Death Row Inmate then began digging downwards.
