Entering the ruins
The ground here was clearly very compacted, and the Soldier and Death Row Inmate had to use a great deal of force to dig it down little by little.
Kronos, Baldwin, and Chad watched from the sidelines. Baldwin and Chad were of different statuses, while Kronos had just proven his worth, so no one raised any objections.
In contrast, Gner was in a much worse state; he was helping those adventurers move dirt.
"With such solid soil, if the Ruins are really here, they must be from more than a thousand years ago," Kronos speculated.
Baldwin knew absolutely nothing about this, so he remained silent.
Chad chimed in, "There's no record of any Ruins here on Blue Mountain Island, so it's most likely Fourth Epoch Ruins, if there really are any."
Kronos glanced at Chad with interest. "You don't believe there are Ruins nearby?"
"I don't know," Chad said, "But MI9's actions are highly Rules. They should have investigated thoroughly before applying for troop deployment and excavation. This approach is simply wasting the value of their soldiers."
Chad's words revealed an attitude completely different from his previous mild demeanor.
"I thought you and Captain Baldwin had different personalities, but it seems it's all an act. No wonder you're both soldiers trained by Admiral Amyrius."
Chad smiled but didn't say anything.
At this moment, Baldwin spoke up, "He has served Admiral Your Excellency longer than I have, but he is my second-in-command because he is slightly less capable than me."
That's normal. Although they may not know what Acting Method is, it naturally aligns with the Arbiter Pathway in the military.
As for the Spectator, Chad wasn't the army's Psychiatrist, and as the general's personal Personal Guards, Kronos couldn't imagine how that position could be suitable for the Spectator Pathway.
If things continue like this, the gap in strength between the two may widen further, and Amyrius is probably aware of this as well. So it remains to be seen whether Amyrius wants to train him.
Perhaps we could transfer him to become Psychiatrist later; if he's talented enough, he should be able to reach Sequence 5 in a few years.
Of course, the foundation of everything is what I just mentioned: Amyrius intended to nurture him.
As the pit in front of them grew deeper and deeper, the people in charge of digging clearly felt the difference. The current soil layer was more like rammed earth, the kind that had been specially compacted, making the digging increasingly difficult.
"It seems MI9's intelligence was correct; there is indeed something in this situation," Kronos said.
But Chad, standing to the side, said expressionlessly, "That's because of you. Otherwise, we'd probably be digging here for half a month before we'd come up with any ideas."
At this point, Kronos truly realized that Chad definitely had a grudge against MI9, otherwise things wouldn't have turned out this way.
Having realized this, Kronos naturally wouldn't bring it up in front of him again, after all, he wasn't Hunter Pathway who enjoyed provoking others.
As the excavation continued, just as the sun was about to set, they finally reached the edge of the Ruins. It was a large rock, and after clearing it for a long time, they still couldn't find the edge or the entrance.
However, the Sun was about to set, and the conditions for continuing to dig were no longer suitable, so the group immediately set up camp to rest well so they would have the strength to continue digging the next day.
The task for the second day was no longer to dig downwards, since they couldn't move that big rock anymore.
So Kronos did a proper divination. Although he wasn't as skilled as Seer, the divination Mystery Pryer was still one of the most accurate among all the Pathway.
After finally determining the direction, everyone worked together to dig, with the goal of finding the entrance to the Ruins.
Sure enough, such a large-scale Ruins cannot be excavated in just one or two days.
It wasn't until the third day that they finally reached the edge of the rock. By then, everyone was exhausted, while Kronos and the other two had already joined the digging effort.
Perhaps we should really thank Kronos for the accuracy of his divination, because a day later, when they returned to dig downwards on their first day, the door to the Ruins was revealed to them.
The entire Ruins appears to be cast from a single piece of stone, looking like a doorway carved into a large rock.
Faced with this door, everyone was a little at a loss; how did they open it?
There are Symbol swirling above this Gate, clearly indicating that it requires some occult method to open; you can't just push it open with your hands, can you?
Just then, Baldwin's moment of glory arrived. He took out a Charm and gently crushed it.
"This was given to me by Admiral Amyrius. He said that even if we find the Ruins, we won't be able to get in. Crushing this Charm will notify him."
Since the Admiral had already made arrangements, those present no longer bothered to study them and simply sat down on the ground.
Kronos received over twenty years of aristocratic education in Backlund, but after only about a month, life there has completely washed away any trace of his aristocratic air.
He sat on the ground without any restraint, with his left arm around Gner's shoulder and his right arm around a Death Row Inmate.
They didn't rest for long when a ripple appeared in mid-air, and Amyrius emerged from it.
When Amyrius landed on the ground, he saw his Personal Guards Corps, who had been with him for at least three years, looking as weathered as construction workers on a construction site.
At this moment Amyrius didn't find it funny, but rather felt a pang of heartache. They were all good soldiers, and now they've all ended up like this.
Upon seeing Amyrius arrive, all the soldiers immediately stood up and saluted.
Amyrius returned the greeting respectfully and said, "Thank you for your hard work."
At this moment, Chad stepped forward and said, "General, we owe it all to the Klein brothers. If it weren't for their ability to locate the Ruins, we don't know how much longer we would have had to dig."
Following Chad's finger, Amyrius saw "Klein" sitting on the ground.
Although Amyrius had only glanced at the list once, he knew that this face was not on the exploration team's roster.
And the person Klein was embracing was someone he recognized— Gner, Kronos's friend. So, this person's identity was pretty obvious.
Kronos saw Amyrius looking at him, so he stood up and walked over to Amyrius.
Your Excellency current status also made a military salute inappropriate, so he gently placed his hand on his chest and gave Amyrius a slight bow. "Admiral, it's a pleasure to meet you."
Amyrius shook his head slightly, then said, "Oh, it's you. You've changed a lot."
"But this is what life is really like," Kronos said, looking around. "I think it's pretty good."
Amyrius didn't continue speaking, but turned around to look at the Gate of the Ruins.
Amyrius is Arbiter Pathway; even Demigod- level Imperative Mage aren't very good at deciphering runes and such.
However, MI9 gave him a Charm and told him that the Charm had no other function than to open the Gate to the Ruins.
All Amyrius needs to do is take the Charm into Ruins Ruins, find a platform made of a strange metal, and place the Charm on it.
As for the items in the Ruins, they all belong to Amyrius and the Sonia Sea Naval Base.
Amyrius took out the Charm and then activated it with his Spirituality.
The Charm emitted a ghostly blue light, and then a phantom flew out of the Charm and crashed into the Gate the Ruins in front of it.
Before long, the Gate slowly opened.
Amyrius didn't say a word, and stepped inside.
Since the Admiral had not given orders, these Personal Guards Corps Soldier unsure whether they should follow him inside.
But Kronos didn't care about that and followed Amyrius inside.
Seeing Kronos walk inside, Gner quickly slung his greatsword over his shoulder and jogged after Kronos.
As a result, these three people entered the Ruins right under everyone's noses.
The three of them had already entered the Ruins when Baldwin and Chad whispered to each other.
"What should we do? Should we go in or not?"
"How would I know? If the general doesn't tell us, is it alright for us to make the decision on our own?"
Just as the two were discussing, the Gate in front of them suddenly closed.
Chad looked at the Gate and said, "Don't even think about it, you can't get in even if you want to."
But at this moment, Baldwin was also worried about Kronos. "Do you think the general will be angry Punishment the Klein brothers if they just go in like that?"
Chad said speechlessly, "Didn't you hear his conversation with the Your Excellency? They clearly know each other; it's unlikely."
After entering the Gate of the Ruins, you will find yourself in a fairly long passageway.
Kronos and Gner followed Amyrius, Amyrius was clearly a man of few words, and the three of them walked silently through the dark tunnel.
As Kronos walked, he carefully sensed the surroundings, convinced that he had found the location of the Ruins and that the large rocks outside were the outer shell of the Ruins.
But now it turns out he was wrong; that big rock was just the path they were walking on.
The Spirituality significant thing he sensed wasn't Ruins, but simply the Gate to that Ruins.
The passageway they are walking on now has a slightly downward feel, indicating that the entire Ruins are located deeper in the ground.
Although Kronos had not explored the Ruins, he had seen similar records in both his family's books and the Library of Backlund University.
Such a large-scale Ruins is extremely rare, and very few people in the Fourth Epoch would have been able to build such Ruins.
These people are all powerful Beyonder; it seems we're going to reap a great harvest this time.
