Background / History
Su Yu and Du Busi encountered the Golden Giant Ape after three days of searching the Star Dou Great Forest. Du Busi immobilized it with his soul power and examined its cultivation, determining its exact age as 2,600 years. The ape roared furiously while restrained, hating being treated as prey. Although it exceeded Su Yu’s planned first-ring limit of 2,500 years, Du Busi judged the additional hundred years acceptable 5.
Su Yu slit the ape’s throat with a soul-tool dagger, releasing a purple soul ring. He absorbed it over five hours, using the red and blue substances within his Inner Landscape to assist the process. Afterward, a dazzling golden light appeared inside that realm, carrying the ape’s power 5 6.
Abilities & Skills
Physical Strength and Golden Bloodline
The Golden Giant Ape excelled in physical strength. Despite possessing only 2,600 years of cultivation, it could unleash power comparable to that of a ten-thousand-year soul beast 14.
- Its powerful golden bloodline made its soul ring particularly suitable for Su Yu’s lower dantian martial soul 14.
- Du Busi regarded inheriting its bloodline as an additional means of raising Su Yu’s physical-strength ceiling, alongside the Body Sect’s methods for breaking human limits 6.
Soul Ring: Golden Source
The ape’s soul ring granted Su Yu his first soul skill, Golden Source, an enhancement-type ability 6 7.
- At full activation, Golden Source doubled Su Yu’s attributes, including strength, defense, and speed, as well as his resistance to abnormal conditions 7.
- The skill enhanced him on top of his bloodline-induced transformation; Golden Source alone did not produce the complete possession-like form 7.
- During Su Yu’s fight with Bei Bei, its resistance reduced the electricity from Thunder Dragon Claw to a slight tingling sensation rather than disabling numbness 8.
Inherited Bloodline Transformation
By fusing with the ape’s Bloodline Source Essence inside his Inner Landscape, Su Yu acquired its bloodline. Activating that bloodline produced a transformation resembling Golden Giant Ape Martial Soul Possession 6 7.
- His body expanded to nearly twice its normal size 6.
- Golden fur covered him, with a thick, hardened layer developing beneath it 6.
- Du Busi considered the transformation more complete than a one-ring Golden Giant Ape martial soul user’s usual possession state 6.
- Its interaction with Golden Source created an enhancement synergy compared to that between a soul ring and a soul bone from the same beast; no actual soul bone was identified 7.
Legacy in Su Yu’s Cultivation
- Locating hidden reserves: The ape’s Bloodline Source Essence settled near concentrations of Su Yu’s native golden substance, which governed bursts of power. Su Yu distinguished this native substance from the externally acquired ape essence 9.
- Guiding further exploration: Its arrival led Su Yu to theorize that future soul rings could guide him toward hidden substances associated with their attributes 10.
- Condensing Bloodline Power: Su Yu used the essence to trace a connection from his lower dantian into the Inner Landscape. There, he combined it with blood and vital energy and the native golden and red substances, eventually condensing Bloodline Power 15.
- Testing extraction: Su Yu later wrapped a portion of the essence in Bloodline Power and transferred it into his physical lower dantian, confirming that it could leave the Inner Landscape. Large quantities remained unexplored even after more than a month 19.
