Background / History
Original Wen Xiancheng
The original Wen Xiancheng grew up in Yecheng. When he was six, a drought drove Xue Ruigao's family there; after her parents died of illness, his parents buried them and took her into their household, arranging for her to marry their son 1.
His parents later died, and he withdrew into a life of gaming, eating, and sleeping. He had completed high school but stopped pursuing further education after their deaths. His ninth-grade cultivation aptitude and dependence on Xue Ruigao earned him a reputation as a cowardly, lazy burden on her future 1 11.
Despite receiving third-grade aptitude and entering the Royal Academy, Xue Ruigao refused to end their engagement. She sent him ninety percent of her monthly academy benefits and returned home each month to eat with him 1.
Transmigration
The original boy and his pet gray mouse died after eating poisoned cake. A person from twenty-first-century Earth then transmigrated into Wen Xiancheng's body and discovered that the mouse had also become his second body. The remaining poison no longer affected him, possibly because of the transmigration 1.
He took the leftover cake back to the shop, only to find its owner dead and under examination by the Guard Force. Suspecting that the shopkeeper had been silenced, he found no usable lead and turned toward cultivation as a means of protecting himself 1 2.
The original owner's consciousness remained inside the body, repeatedly expressing anguish and resistance as the newcomer grew closer to Xue Ruigao. Zhang Lu's treatment ended this interference. Before disappearing, the original owner asked that Xue Ruigao be treated well and never told that he was dead; the transmigrator resolved to investigate his murder and erect a gravestone for him 10 24 27 28.
Appearance
- Human body: A seventeen-year-old boy. Cui Qianqian considers him good-looking, while Wen Jie privately describes him as ordinary-looking 1 18 24.
- Business attire: Purchases a neat suit, leather shoes, and a crew cut before approaching Cui Qianqian, spending fifty low-grade spirit stones on the outfit 17.
- Mouse body: A small gray mouse originally kept as the boy's pet 1.
Personality
Wen Xiancheng is persistent and practical about overcoming poor aptitude. He spends seven days learning to operate both bodies independently, practices illusions through the night, and develops a punishing work-and-cultivation routine to finance his progress. He nevertheless recognizes the value of rest when exhaustion becomes unsustainable 3 21 22.
He is protective of Xue Ruigao and determined to reverse their previous dependence: rather than let her support him indefinitely, he wants to earn enough that she can focus on cultivation. His preferred relationship is not a grand romance, but an ordinary shared life of cooking and everyday necessities 5 24 41.
He refuses to accept humiliation passively and encourages Cui Qianqian to retaliate against bullies. His methods can be manipulative: he secretly reads her notebook, uses surveillance to help win her trust, and stages the Mouse Clone's death before planting underwear in Gao Shiqi's backpack. He also steals cultivation herbs rather than let moral reservations block his advancement 8 11 18 20 23.
His willingness to retaliate is tempered by awareness of his own weakness. He considers seeking guards' protection against stronger opponents, worries about burdening Zhang Lu, and recognizes that relying on Xiao Xiao cannot replace developing his own strength 29 42.
Abilities & Skills
Mouse Clone
The gray mouse is Wen Xiancheng's second body, not merely a trained companion 1 49.
- Shared control and perception: Experiences the world through either body's senses; eventually learns to operate both independently 2 3.
- Covert access: Uses the clone to enter the Royal Academy, read notebooks, monitor people, and collect medicinal herbs 9 11 17 20.
- Independent cultivation: After marrow cleansing, the clone cultivates alongside the human body and advances faster 25 29 37.
- Mouse communication: Learns from Xiao Xiao's illustrated record of 180 common movements and calls, then successfully communicates hunger and happiness to ten wild mice 41.
- Limits: Early attempts at divided attention are slow and awkward, with the clone repeatedly falling while he operates his human body 3.
Illusion Arts
He learns primarily from Cui Qianqian's notebook and demonstrations, choosing Illusion Arts because their relatively low spiritual-energy consumption suits his poor aptitude 2 11 37.
- Visual constructs: Produces floating words, rabbits, flowers, small animals, and a large python 13 25 41.
- Educational materials: Enhances storybooks, exercise books, and textbooks with animated characters; later helps create an immersive biology-lesson setting 14 21 37.
- Establishing Logic: Learns to sequence thousands of rose images into a convincing progression from seed to growth, flowering, and withering 26 31.
- Concealment and intimidation: Hides from law enforcement behind illusory ivy and frightens Su Qinghuang unconscious with a python illusion 43.
- Immersive experiences: Sells a button that places its user inside a realistic, ten-second beauty illusion 47 48.
- Limits: His rabbit and room-filling animals remain intangible images. Establishing Logic requires detailed observation and precise timing; his first night of rose practice produces thousands of images but no successful sequence 25 26 41.
Healing Arts
Zhang Lu gives him a notebook to study as a test for becoming her successor, with Xiao Xiao assigned to explain difficult material 28.
- Studies anatomy and the fundamentals of Healing Arts 35.
- Revitalizes drooping Beauty's Face flowers with green healing light 39.
- Uses Qi Transfer to revive Su Qinghuang after she faints 43.
- Remains a novice: his healing light flickers instead of displaying the rich, steady green described in the notebook 44.
- Is not yet Zhang Lu's accepted disciple, despite temporarily claiming that status during the Cui-family confrontation 39 40.
Pill Refining
- Successfully refines Spirit-Gathering Powder from an online recipe after three failed attempts 22.
- Applies it as a body-covering paste to accelerate spiritual-energy absorption 22.
- Uses powder made from stolen Royal Academy herbs to support both bodies' daily cultivation 37.
- Researches aptitude-enhancing medicines, but has not demonstrated refining them himself 19 50.
Business and Contract Writing
- Identifies markets for illusion-enhanced school materials and negotiates customized orders with kindergartens and primary schools 20 21 22.
- Writes contract clauses fluently enough to impress a kindergarten principal, privately attributing this competence to his pre-transmigration experience 21.
- Builds the Cui Qianqian brand by prominently printing her name on completed products 36.
- Requires Yang Mu to sign and fingerprint their agreement before surrendering the Mouse Clone 49.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Storage Ring — A used ring gifted by Sun Xinlei; later stores merchandise such as illusion buttons 35 47.
- Cui Qianqian's notebook — His principal early Illusion Arts learning resource. Initially read secretly through the clone, then openly borrowed with her permission 11 18.

- Cui Qianqian — Illusion Arts learning source and business partner. He promises to make her reputation comparable to Liu Lanzhi's and builds their studio around her name 18 36 37.
- Xue Ning — Business partner who helps Cui Qianqian and Wen Xiancheng develop the biology-lesson setting 35 37.
- Zhang Lu — Healer and prospective mentor. Treats him without charge and offers a conditional path to becoming her successor 27 28.
- Xiao Xiao — Zhang Lu's Machine Puppet, assigned to assist his studies and observe his habits. Protects him from hostile academy acquaintances and develops the mouse-communication guide 28 29 41.
- Sun Xinlei — Kindergarten contact who brings him a substantial custom-textbook order and later gives him his first Storage Ring 21 35.
- Gao Shiqi — Enemy who attempts to sabotage his engagement and poisons the Mouse Clone. He counters her schemes and helps bring about her estrangement from Xue Ruigao 4 8 9.
- Xu Junfeng — Wealthy rival pursuing Xue Ruigao. Their attempted private discussion ends in insults and threats 29 34.
- Su Qinghuang — A confrontational acquaintance whom he frightens and then revives. Her virtual-reality game invitation inspires his illusion-realm business idea 43 45.
- Yang Mu — Royal Academy pill-refining professor and medicinal-garden manager. Accepts the Mouse Clone in exchange for overlooking stolen ingredients and recommending Wen Xiancheng to Sun Ying 49 50.
