First-tier, third-stage 37 Reaches this stage after a little over a month of cultivation supported by Spirit-Gathering Powder. Its cultivation potential proves substantially greater than Wen Xiancheng’s human body.
  • Demon beasts have nine tiers, each divided into three minor stages. They generally gain the ability to take human form at the eighth tier; the Mouse Clone has not reached that level 37.
  • Yang Mu independently confirms the clone’s first-tier, third-stage cultivation when investigating the stolen herbs 48.

Background / History

Learning to control two bodies

Wen Xiancheng experiences his human body and Mouse Clone as two regions of awareness. Initially, concentrating on the mouse leaves his human body motionless. Unlike his human body, which retains its original owner’s residual consciousness, the mouse body contains no inherited consciousness or memories to guide him 2 33.

His early coordination training is exhausting: feeding movements become confused, and the clone repeatedly falls from furniture and the ceiling. After seven days, he can operate both bodies independently, allowing one to work while the other handles unrelated tasks 3.

Exposing Gao Shiqi

The Mouse Clone discovers and destroys a forged breakup note intended to separate Wen Xiancheng from Xue Ruigao. It subsequently reads Gao Shiqi’s messages to Xu Junfeng, uncovering their plans to sabotage the engagement and steal Xue Ruigao’s underwear 4 6 7.

Wen Xiancheng uses the clone to stage an apparent poisoning after Gao Shiqi feeds it cookies he has described as containing rat poison. The clone collapses in front of Xue Ruigao, then gets up once taken into Wen Xiancheng’s room. It later plants underwear in Gao Shiqi’s backpack to reinforce the accusation against her 7 8.

Obtaining Illusion Arts teachings

After the move to Li City, the clone enters the Royal Academy and discovers Cui Qianqian practicing a banana illusion. It follows her to her dormitory and reads her illusion-enhanced notebook overnight, while Wen Xiancheng practices the techniques through his human body 9 10 11.

The clone then hides in Cui Qianqian’s backpack to reach Liu Lanzhi’s classroom. It memorizes the route and the twenty students’ faces, enabling future visits without continually following Cui Qianqian 12.

Building a mouse group

Three local mice initially clash with the clone over damage to Wen Xiancheng’s makeshift wardrobe. After the clone feels sympathy for a trapped mouse and Wen Xiancheng releases it, the mice bring blood-stanching grass. Their demonstration reveals its healing properties and eventually leads the clone to the Royal Academy’s herb garden 15 16 17 19.

The clone and its companions collect samples of more than thirty medicinal herbs. Later, at Xiao Xiao’s suggestion, it brings ten mice to Wen Xiancheng’s new home as the foundation of a mouse organization. Food wins their trust, but the clone still cannot understand their calls 19 32 33.

Xiao Xiao’s illustrated notes allow it to learn mouse communication. Its first successful exchanges concern eating, hunger, and happiness; continued study eventually lets it issue herb-gathering instructions without accompanying the mice personally 41 42 46.

Entering Yang Mu’s care

Nine herb-gathering mice are captured, and the remaining broken-tailed mouse is released so their owner can be traced. The clone recognizes the trap and directs Xiao Xiao to hide four sets of Aptitude Marrow-Cleansing Pill ingredients inside her abdomen, but Yang Mu detects the herbs’ scent 48.

Wen Xiancheng agrees to hand the clone over to Yang Mu, recognizing that the professor can provide cultivation resources without breaking their shared identity. At Yang Mu’s villa, the clone reunites with the nine captured mice, persuades them not to flee, and instructs them to show affection toward their new benefactor. Yang Mu agrees to refine pills for the group if they behave 49 50.

Appearance

  • Size: Small enough to ride in Wen Xiancheng’s pocket or be cupped in Xue Ruigao’s hands; before cultivation, it is not much larger than the local mice 3 6 15.
  • Features: Furry body, long whiskers, and eyes with no visible whites. Its eyes are described as crimson while watching Cui Qianqian’s illusion 2 9 10.
  • Expressions: Frequently strokes its whiskers, rolls its eyes, and displays humanlike disdain or amusement 8 9 50.

Personality

The clone expresses Wen Xiancheng’s human intelligence and scheming temperament. It enjoys outwitting opponents, retaliates against Gao Shiqi’s interference, and treats Yang Mu’s patronage as an opportunity to obtain resources rather than a loss of loyalty 4 8 49 50.

Its mouse body also produces reactions that conflict with Wen Xiancheng’s human perspective. Sympathy for a trapped mouse overrides his wish to punish the wardrobe-chewing pests. It dislikes dirty mouse holes and prolonged confinement indoors, yet perseveres through tedious communication lessons to organize its companions 15 16 19 33 42.

Abilities & Skills

Shared awareness and parallel activity

  • Wen Xiancheng directly perceives the world through the clone’s senses and feels its physical sensations 2 25.
  • After coordination training, the two bodies can perform different activities simultaneously; one can remain awake while the other sleeps 3 16.
  • Information obtained by the clone is immediately usable by the human body, as demonstrated when Wen Xiancheng practices from the notebook the clone is reading 11.
  • Cultivation reduces the clone’s awareness of its surroundings, allowing Xiao Xiao to approach unnoticed 32.

Stealth and object manipulation

  • Climbs walls, slips through windows, and uses vegetation to move through the Royal Academy unnoticed 9 10 33.
  • Uses its teeth and paws to open notebooks, operate backpack zippers, carry herbs, and relocate small objects 8 11 12 19.
  • Sees clearly in darkness, but perceives the world only in black and white 11.
  • Its apparent status as an ordinary pet helps conceal its human intelligence from Xue Ruigao and Xiao Xiao 7 32.

Cultivation and Illusion Arts study

  • Absorbs natural spiritual energy after marrow cleansing and uses Spirit-Gathering Powder to increase absorption speed 26.
  • Practices Illusion Arts alongside its herb-gathering work 37.
  • Provides a second body for cultivation; Wen Xiancheng hopes simultaneous practice will double his Illusion Arts progress, but that increase is an expectation rather than a measured result 26.

Mouse communication and leadership

  • Initially lacks mouse language despite possessing a mouse body; gestures alone make coordination unreliable 17 32 33.
  • Studies Xiao Xiao’s notes covering 180 common movements and calls, beginning with roughly a dozen memorized signals 41.
  • Develops simple everyday communication and directs ten mice to gather medicinal ingredients independently 46.
  • Controls the captured mice’s behavior closely enough to convince Yang Mu that Little Gray is their leader 50.

Vocal mimicry

  • Imitates a cat’s meow to frighten local mice without fighting them 9.
  • The tactic is temporary: persistent mice return repeatedly, and an entire night of imitation leaves its throat sore 15.

Items & Cultivation Resources

  • Marrow-Cleansing Liquid — Added to bathwater to prepare the clone for spiritual-energy absorption 25 26.
  • Spirit-Gathering Powder — Used in a water solution or applied to its body to accelerate cultivation 26 37.
  • Xiao Xiao’s communication notebook — Illustrated reference for mouse calls, gestures, and expressions; expanded through further observation 41 46.
  • Blood-Congealing Pill — Offered by Yang Mu to promote gradual blood evolution using traces of powerful demon beasts’ blood essence; consumption is not shown in the supplied passage 49.
  • Gnawing wood — Required daily to wear down its teeth; skipping a day causes toothache or discomfort 3 15.

Relationships

  • Wen Xiancheng — Its controller and shared identity. Being handed to another caretaker does not separate the clone from him 2 49.
  • Xue Ruigao — Treats it affectionately as Wen Xiancheng’s harmless pet; has slept holding it and promises it snacks 6 7.
  • Gao Shiqi — An adversary frightened of mice. The clone uncovers her schemes and helps turn Xue Ruigao against her 4 6 7 8.
  • Cui Qianqian — Initially an unwitting source of Illusion Arts instruction through her notebook and classroom attendance 10 11 12.
  • Xiao Xiao — Proposes the mouse organization and supplies the communication research that makes organized leadership possible 32 41 46.
  • Ten local mice — Companions and herb-gathering followers; the original three become friendly after the trapped mouse is released 16 19 33 46.
  • Yang Mu — Its new caretaker and cultivation patron. Recognizes its leadership and agrees to provide pill-refining support for the mice 49 50.
