Background
The Demon Alliance was established in recent centuries and became the first organized coalition formed by the many races that had become demons. Its members do not share a single ideology: some seek humanity's extermination, some seek immortality, and some merely seek survival. 41 67
Unlike both the Dao Alliance and much of the Demon Realm, the Demon Alliance recognizes half-demons, who are otherwise treated as descendants of traitors or targets for extermination. Its interest in rescuing the thirty-three half-demon girls from Chaoge City led Lord Vermilion Bird to order the capture of their rescuer, Andy Lau. 67 83
The Alliance has endured roughly a thousand years of Dao Alliance encirclement and suppression. Despite this pressure, it has remained the strongest force on the continent beneath the Dao Alliance, supported by its surviving divisions, powerful demon leaders, and Mahayana-class divine beasts or great demons. 79 135
Organization
Divisions and leadership
The Demon Alliance originally had twelve divisions corresponding to the twelve zodiac animals. Only seven remained after repeated Dao Alliance campaigns. 79 162
| Division / Group | Known personnel and role |
|---|---|
| Rooster Division | A southeastern Monster Beast Mountain Range division. Its Third, Fifth, and Seventh Helmsmen spearheaded the Snow Flame Sect operation; Mysterious Owl served as Third Helmsman. 79 83 |
| Snake Division | Associated with Yun Xizi and Red Viper; it later became a site for discussion of the Alliance's Heavenly Ladder project. 162 182 |
| Underwater branch | A deep-sea branch visited by Xiao Bai and One Sword Fox. Chou Niu and Helmsman Bao Junzi shared its investigation into the Dao Alliance's origins and Black Stele fragments. 137 |
| Twelve Zodiacs / Seven Zodiacs | The Alliance's high-level deliberative body, convened for major events and secret plans in Turtle Back City. 162 |
The surviving Zodiacs are Wu Ma, Xu Gou, Yin Hu, Si Snake, Chou Niu, Shen Hou, and You Rooster. Wu Ma and Xu Gou are Mahayana Supremes, while the other listed Zodiacs are at Integrated Body Peak. 162
After Madam Black Goat's strongest clone was killed, the Alliance selected Nine Infants as its new Rotating Chief. 183
Headquarters and territory
- Turtle Back City — Demon Alliance headquarters and the location of Zodiac assemblies. Madam Black Goat served as its City Lord. 161 162
- Monster Beast Mountain Range — Home territory of the Rooster Division and a major area of Alliance operations. 79
- Deep-sea branch — An underwater outpost investigating Black Stele fragments and the possible origins of the Demon Race. 137
Strength and resources
- The Alliance can mobilize large beast tides; its forces used self-destructing Black Crows to wear down a Flying Boat formation. 46
- During the Snow Flame Sect assault, the Rooster Division deployed more than one hundred demon generals, including thirteen Nascent Soul Realm great demons and numerous Golden Core demons, alongside Snow Devouring Beasts. 94
- The Alliance is said to possess three Mahayana-class divine beasts or great demons, including the Vermilion Bird, which is considered its strongest Mahayana divine beast and only Fated Body. 135
- Its military strength is constrained by the Dao Alliance's superior patrol-ship fleets, resources, artifact technology, and larger number of Mahayana cultivators. 135
Objectives and policies
Demon Race and half-demon protection
The Alliance acknowledges half-demons as legitimate members of the continent's peoples, contrasting with the widespread persecution they face elsewhere. 67
Its leaders also considered occupying Snow Flame Sect as a possible site for half-demon breeding research and a racial buffer zone, though this was presented as the position of a moderate faction rather than a universal policy. 90
Opposition to the Dao Alliance
The Alliance's conflict with the Dao Alliance is both military and political. It maintains infiltrators within Dao Alliance institutions, while Dao Alliance spies have also penetrated the Alliance and compromised its operations. 83 94
Alliance members have investigated claims that the Dao Alliance's predecessor, the Three-Body Group, researched the fusion of humans, demons, and monsters before becoming the Dao Alliance. They also suspect that the Demon Race may have been artificially created or altered through such experiments, though the investigation remains unresolved. 137
Black Stele and immortality projects
The Alliance has recovered Black Stele fragments and investigated their inscriptions, believing Xiao Bai may be central to uncovering the Dao Alliance's hidden history. 137
It later began planning a Heavenly Ladder—also described in connection with a “Moon Landing” project—to reach the Immortal Realm. The project is tied to research suggesting that the God Connecting Pillars direct Spiritual Power toward the moon. 182 183
Story Role
Snow Flame Sect operation
Yu Hu initially described taking Snow Flame Sect as the first step of the Demon Alliance's plan. She had been pressured by the Alliance to form a Dao Companion partnership with a high-ranking sect or Dao Supervision Palace official before choosing Xiao Bai instead. 3 81
The Rooster Division prepared a three-pronged assault: the Third Helmsman would approach from the northwest, the Fifth from the northeast, and the Seventh from the southwest before converging outside Snow Flame Sect. The plan included leaving a southeastern escape route to weaken the defenders' resolve. 83
After the operation was leaked, the Alliance abandoned its slower, exposed strategy and launched a surprise attack. Lu Youwei, a high-level Alliance agent embedded in Dao Alliance Headquarters, infiltrated the Sword Inheritance Assembly to obtain the Demon Slaying Sword and trigger the assault from within. 94 116
The attack failed after Xiao Bai and One Sword Fox killed Illusion Tapir and Mysterious Owl. The Rooster Division's losses were severe enough that the Seven-Tailed Chicken Shadow assigned another Charm Demon to handle Xiao Bai rather than risk an important clone. 96
Penglai and the Dragon Heist
Two clones of Nine Infants stole the Mount Penglai God Connecting Pillar for the Demon Alliance, alarming the Dao Alliance but not provoking an immediate full-scale response. 145
The Alliance later sought to rescue Chen Dragon, a Mahayana-stage Zodiac imprisoned by the Dao Alliance. Xiao Bai and One Sword Fox were accepted as Alliance representatives for the Dragon Heist Plan after passing the Zodiac trial. 162 164
Although Chen Dragon was recovered, Luo Tian had hidden within him and used the return journey to seize Shen Hou's soul, control the Vermilion Bird, capture Turtle Back City, and inflict major losses on the Alliance. 177
Post–Turtle Back City crisis
Following Luo Tian's attack, the Alliance lost both Turtle Back City and the Vermilion Bird. Its surviving leadership sought to preserve cohesion, retake its lost assets during the coming struggle over Destiny Power, and rely on Xiao Bai as a unifying figure. 177 183
At the Kunpeng Assembly, Xiao Bai proposed retaking the Vermilion Bird and became the Alliance's de facto leader. The Alliance also uncovered and captured a Black Ferret Demon operating as a Dao Alliance spy. 183
Relationships
- Dao Alliance — Principal military and political adversary; both organizations maintain spies within the other. 83 94 183
- Yu Hu — Demon Alliance insider with a Dao Alliance background; Madam Black Goat recognizes her rebuilt demon body and aligned goals as grounds for cooperation. 81 161
- Madam Black Goat — Turtle Back City's City Lord and Yu Hu's contact within the Alliance; her strongest clone's death prompted the appointment of a new Rotating Chief. 161 183
- Nine Infants — Divine Beast associated with the Zodiac leadership; later selected as the Alliance's Rotating Chief. 162 183
- Xiao Bai — Initially marked for capture after rescuing half-demon girls, then accepted as a collaborator, Dragon Heist representative, and eventual de facto leader. 83 162 183
- Chen Dragon — A Mahayana Zodiac whose imprisonment motivated the Dragon Heist Plan. 135 164
- Luo Tian — Responsible for the Alliance's catastrophic loss of Turtle Back City and the Vermilion Bird. 177
