Background

Mu Yun was born prematurely from her mother's corpse after the Sect-State War. The Heavenly Demon Honored Master saved her with a forbidden technique and brought her into the Devil Gate, where she became a Demoness. Her mother's death left her with a lasting hatred of the Dao Alliance, particularly its role in the war. 41 61

She entered the Snow Flame Sect as Yu Hu's Medicine Boy and spent ten years watching Yu Hu under a Demon Race mission. Her original purpose was to turn Yu Hu into a Mo, but both women concealed their true natures and continued their respective schemes on Hundred Herbs Peak. 12 42

Although publicly known as a proud Core Disciple and herb cultivator, Mu Yun secretly served the Heavenly Demon Sect. She assassinated corrupt Dao Alliance officials to sustain and conceal her Demonic Qi, investigated Yu Hu, and later held the post of Chief of Foreign Affairs for the Cambrian Kingdom. 41 73

Mu Yun usually appears as a petite, youthful girl with an aristocratic but servant-like style. Her Demoness manifestations and disguises substantially alter her height, bearing, and facial features. 9 47 126

Personality

Mu Yun is proud, sharp-tongued, and easily provoked, especially when her skill, stature, or master is slighted. She initially treats Xiao Bai as an unworthy laborer who became her Martial Granduncle through Yu Hu, but her curiosity about his cultivation and swordsmanship gradually becomes attachment. 9 12 57

She is cautious and perceptive. Mu Yun detects suspicious correspondence, identifies dangers surrounding Xiao Bai, and frequently tries to dissuade him from reckless action. Even while concealing her identity, she repeatedly protects him from assassins, the Crow Tide, and Dao Alliance pursuit. 15 18 47 71

Despite being a Demoness, Mu Yun follows personal principles. She refused the Heavenly Demon Honored Master's order to corrupt Xiao Bai after judging him to be a good person, and she was relieved when Demonic Obstruction failed to affect him. 61 67

Mu Yun first confronts Xiao Bai over the Daoist robes she made for him and challenges him to a contest. After losing their sword-arts duel, she becomes increasingly curious about his abnormal advancement, while concealing her Mo Race identity and her surveillance of Yu Hu. 9 10 12 24

She saves Xiao Bai from an assassination attempt by using vines to intercept a Sleeve Arrow. Their relationship shifts from mutual suspicion toward cooperation as they investigate the threats surrounding Hundred Herbs Peak. 18 19

Chaoge City and the Demonic Scourge Incident

Mu Yun attempts to eliminate targets from the Heavenly Demon Honored Master's list to conceal her Demonic Qi. Xiao Bai interrupts her attack at the Heavenly Character Pavilion, receives Demonic Obstruction without being corrupted, and later uncovers Huang Biaobing's trafficking operation. 66 67 68

When Dao Alliance constables close in, Mu Yun activates the Vermilion Bird Demon Slip, takes Xiao Bai hostage, and escapes Chaoge City with him. She then seals her Demon Core and entrusts her survival to Xiao Bai's Sword Riding. 69 70 71

Flower Demon Dual Cultivation and Du Ya's Death

In a mountain cave, Mu Yun reveals her Flower Demon form and Dual Cultivates with Xiao Bai. The process suppresses her Demonic Qi and rapidly raises Xiao Bai to Foundation Establishment, though it leaves Mu Yun weakened. 72

Du Ya arrives intending to seize her position and kill both of them. Mu Yun coordinates with Xiao Bai, who kills Du Ya using Red Lotus, allowing her to escape and recover. 73 74 76

Heavenly Demon Sect
