Personality

Du Busi is loud, proud, combative, and openly delighted by exceptional talent. He treats Huo Yuhao’s arrival as grounds for the entire Body Sect to celebrate and immediately decides that the sect should emerge from seclusion. He dislikes empty ceremony, but takes the sect’s inheritance and future seriously 19 20.

His teaching combines harsh expectations with extensive personal support. He promises grueling training, demands tournament success, and refuses to let Huo Yuhao waste his potential. At the same time, he secures cultivation resources, supervises dangerous research, and insists that Huo Yuhao ask the sect and empire for help rather than experiment recklessly 20 34 35.

Although protective and quick to anger, he can put practical benefits above old grudges. He allows Huo Yuhao to learn from Mu En despite their hostility and accepts the Snow Empress’s instruction when it offers a path beyond his cultivation bottleneck 26 96 99.

His pride in martial strength does not extend to abusing the helpless. During preparations for continental unification, he explicitly rejects mistreating civilians and prisoners as a disgrace to the Body Sect 313.

Background / History

Family Origins and Du Bisou’s Death

Du Busi and his elder twin brother, Du Bisou, were born with life-bound poison. Their father possessed the Jade Phosphorous Serpent Martial Soul; their mother was a Body Sect disciple whose liver Martial Soul had exceptional detoxifying power. The combination produced whole-body Martial Souls carrying the Life and Death Tribulation poison 95.

Their paternal line originally used the surname Dugu. Its ancestor was an orphan adopted by Dugu Yan, not a blood descendant of the ancient Poison Douluo. When twins were born into a lineage that had traditionally produced only one heir per generation, their father changed the surname to Du because “poison was no longer alone” 95.

Mu En killed Du Bisou, whose final attack inflicted lasting poison injuries on him. The Body Sect subsequently sealed its gates for years. Du Busi continued to grieve his brother and sought both revenge and a successor capable of securing the sect’s future 20 23 24.

Recruiting Huo Yuhao and Reopening the Sect

After hearing about Huo Yuhao through Xue Xin, Du Busi rushes to Di’ao Academy. He examines the boy’s twin martial souls, tests his abilities, and is particularly impressed by Spiritual Detection Sharing and an ice-dragon attack capable of breaking his skin 18 19.

He takes Huo Yuhao to the Body Sect, accepts him as his personal disciple, and announces the sect’s emergence from seclusion. At the celebration, he promises to obtain Shrek Academy’s ultimate-attribute cultivation manual as an apprenticeship gift 20.

Confrontations with Shrek Academy

Du Busi leads the Body Sect against Shrek, publicly demanding redress for Heaven Dou while privately seeking the manual for Huo Yuhao. He fights Mu En, sustains serious injuries, and helps force negotiations after Xuan Zi is captured 22 23 24.

Mu En ultimately allows Huo Yuhao to study the manual in the Sea God Pavilion for three days under controlled conditions. Du Busi accepts the accompanying arrangements, including sealing Xuan Zi’s Soul Power 25.

After learning how powerful the Evil Soul Masters have become, Du Busi returns to Shrek with the emperor’s summons. He displays Nightmare Douluo’s mutilated corpse, defeats Xuan Zi’s attack, and threatens to revoke Shrek City’s self-government unless the academy joins the extermination campaign 64 65.

Breaking Through to Limit Douluo

Huo Yuhao brings Du Busi to the Far North to seek the Snow Empress’s guidance. Du Busi agrees to conditions sworn upon their Soul Cores, including her visit to the Body Sect 95 96.

Her explanation helps him recognize that his poison already embodies the balance required for Yin-Yang Complementarity. After more than two months in seclusion, he successfully forms his second Soul Core and reaches Limit Douluo 99 107.

He subsequently battles Chen Fuhai, whom he believes to be Mu En, and the Radiant Sacred Dragon together. His new strength enables him to injure Chen Fuhai and poison the dragon despite their combined attacks 109.

Imperial Strategy and Huo Yuhao’s Succession

Du Busi participates in Heaven Dou’s political and military planning, including a deception intended to undermine Xu Jiawei’s trust in Dai Hao. He supplies the poison needed for an infiltrator’s feigned death 131 160.

At the Soul Master Tournament, he exposes records of Ma Xiaotao’s evil fire harming and killing students. Following the Azure Dragon Seven Lodges’ victory, he appoints Huo Yuhao as the Body Sect’s Young Sect Master 164.

When Electrolux uncovers Mu En’s soul, Du Busi learns that Chen Fuhai had seized Mu En’s body. He agrees to help destroy the Golden Tree in exchange for Shrek’s accumulated knowledge and secret techniques 183.

His support increasingly extends to Huo Yuhao’s proposed cooperation between humans and soul beasts. After Huo Yuhao defeats ten Soul Saints in a test, Du Busi removes the sect and empire’s restrictions on his movements and invites him to challenge for sect leadership whenever ready 187 219.

Later Battles and Retirement from Leadership

During the Dou Ling campaign, Du Busi occupies the Offering Hall’s Titled Douluos above Dragon Head Platform. Against the Holy Spirit Cult, he overwhelms the newly advanced Zhongli Wu and later destroys the Bone Dragon King with Huo Yuhao’s borrowed halberd 255 270 271.

Recognizing Huo Yuhao’s growing superiority, he supports Qi Theory as a new direction for the Body Sect and calls for the succession to proceed 272 293.

In their public duel, Huo Yuhao breaks through his attack and immobilizes his full Martial Soul Avatar with an azure-dragon domain. Du Busi accepts defeat without resentment, kneels before his disciple, and presents the Sect Master’s Token. He remains involved afterward, supporting the new path while insisting that the sect preserve its standards toward civilians and prisoners 294 304 313.
