Xia Yan probably truly had not expected that, in other people's eyes, he now looked like an archvillain.

Although he did indeed have an utterly wicked villainous Disguise, in Konoha he had always presented a sunny, gentle, positive image.

He really could not understand why, when he had done nothing yet, those Uchiha seemed to keep thinking he was plotting something.

Even if he really did harbor ulterior motives, surely the Uchiha Clan had to demonstrate its value first.

Worrying when they had shown no value at all was, to put it nicely, preparing for danger in times of peace. Less charitably, it was a bunch of fools worrying over nothing.

But Xia Yan knew nothing of this at the moment. He was dealing with the captured Root Shinobi alongside Kakashi.

Speaking of which, this Root Shinobi was relatively lucky, but at the same time, incredibly unlucky.

Xia Yan's orders had been to kill them without hesitation if they resisted.

He had only just issued that order, though, and Kakashi and the others might not even have received their formal appointments yet, which was why this fellow had been lucky enough to survive.

Sometimes, however, surviving was not necessarily a good thing, especially when someone possessed intelligence and had been captured by the Anbu. That was a truly miserable situation.

This Root Shinobi was clearly one such case. Although he was still alive, Kakashi was not an accommodating man, especially once he had decided that the prisoner had information.

"Director, what brings you here?" Kakashi looked at Xia Yan with some puzzlement, though the entire Anbu belonged to Xia Yan, so there hardly seemed to be anything strange about his being anywhere in it.

"I came to see that brat Hidan. I just didn't expect you to be here too."
