Joining the First-Year Team

During preparations for their first mission, Geto deliberately takes Gojo into a separate vehicle, leaving Qingxiao and Shoko to travel together. He subsequently becomes one of Qingxiao’s self-appointed love advisers, favoring gradual opportunities for the pair to spend time alone over Gojo’s melodramatic suggestions 13 15 16.

First Mission and Street Ambush

At the abandoned construction site, Geto asks Qingxiao to preserve a defensive Grade 2 spirit for capture. After absorbing it, he helps Satō complete the mission documentation despite his lingering discomfort 18 19.

Their subsequent shopping trip becomes an ambush. Geto questions Gojo’s decision not to warn Qingxiao about a concealed attacker, but an underground explosion strikes before he can press the issue. His summoned spirits mitigate the blast, yet he is severely injured and knocked unconscious 20 22.

After regaining consciousness, Geto insists on returning to help Qingxiao. His bird spirit’s surprise attack forces Kamo Xiansheng to defend, opening a gap in his armor. Shoko then treats Geto at the battlefield 26 27.

Expanding His Arsenal

Qingxiao proposes killing the defeated Wengu Che without Cursed Energy so that his resentment might produce a spirit Geto can absorb. The plan succeeds: Wengu becomes an upper-tier Grade 1 mole spirit, which Gojo and Qingxiao weaken for capture. Both friends stay beside Geto while he recovers from swallowing its orb 28 29.

Following separate interviews with the higher-ups, Geto and Qingxiao accept resources without taking political sides. Geto selects two cursed tools, then turns his attention toward improving the close-combat weaknesses exposed by the ambush 31 33 34 38 39.

Shoko’s Birthday

Geto prepares Shoko’s gift in advance and joins Gojo and Qingxiao in surprising her outside her dormitory. During their amusement-park outing, he cooperates with Gojo to leave Qingxiao and Shoko alone, later rejoining them for the evening celebration 41 42 44 46.

Rainbow Dragon Mission

An urgent mission sends Geto, Gojo, and Qingxiao out without Shoko for the first time since the four enrolled. The supposedly Grade 1 target proves to be a Special Grade Rainbow Dragon, whose scales withstand Geto’s avian spirits 47 48 49.

When Rainbow Dragon becomes berserk, Geto deploys the mole spirit to slow it with earth and stone. Its restraints combine with Qingxiao’s physical hold to prevent the dragon from escaping Gojo’s fully charged Blue 50.
