As the last slice of grilled meat was swallowed, every plate on the table was empty. Even the lettuce and button mushrooms served on the side had been swept clean, without a scrap left.
They couldn't help it. The meal was so extravagant that leaving even a tiny bit would have made them feel terribly guilty.
The charcoal beneath the grill had gone out. Everyone's stomach was now stuffed with grilled meat, and they leaned comfortably against their seat backs.
