Naming inconsistency: The system initially names the second Stand The Hand, then calls it Bites the Dust when it unlocks. Later passages use both names for spatial-erasure actions, including within the same encounter. The supplied text does not explain the change 1 6 21 32 45.
Background / History
Departure from the Gojo Clan
Chingetsu is a transmigrator born into a Gojo Clan branch whose members lacked cursed energy. Unable to become conventional jujutsu sorcerers, his family was looked down upon. He concealed his Stand abilities because they were initially weak and because he distrusted the clan’s internal power struggles 1.
Three years before the opening chapter, he left the clan to live independently. Away from its restrictions, he concentrated on developing Killer Queen and strengthening his body through the energy obtained from exorcising cursed spirits 1.
He subsequently opened Dawn Bar as a hobby rather than a financial necessity. Its first floor serves customers, while the second provides living space; Chingetsu keeps irregular opening hours 6 29.
Gojo Clan Hunting Squad and the Q Organization
When a Gojo Clan spirit-hunting squad arrives to take him back, Chingetsu rejects the clan’s claim over him. The squad attacks, and its leader becomes convinced that Chingetsu possesses a valuable cursed tool. Chingetsu kills all three attackers using an explosive coin 2 3.
Satoru later warns that the clan will investigate their disappearance. The cousins return to the battle site, where the dead attackers become curses and fuse into a Grade 1 Three-Headed Serpent. Chingetsu overwhelms it physically before summoning Killer Queen 3 4 5 6.
Kōhei Hachibonki subsequently targets Chingetsu because of the bounty on Satoru. After extracting information about the Q Organization, Chingetsu releases him while secretly sending Sheer Heart Attack after him. The bomb follows Kōhei to a Q branch and kills seven curse users in an explosion 8.
Yamada Hospital and Nanami’s Injury
Chingetsu accepts the Yamada Hospital assignment for its thirty-million-yen reward. During the incident, he saves Suguru Geto from being dragged beneath black water by an Eight-Armed Cursed Spirit, meeting him in person for the first time 10 11.
When Kusumoto Hajime and his men attempt to intimidate him over the payment, Chingetsu mutilates an armed underling and forces Kusumoto to become an information source. He leaves dormant power on Kusumoto’s face to discourage betrayal 12.
Chi later attacks the bar and badly injures Kento Nanami. Chingetsu crushes Chi’s spine, uses Killer Queen to destroy his limbs, and kills him before taking Nanami to hospital. Chi’s main body, Kimura €€suke, learns of the death and vows revenge 13 14.
Hannya and Rejection of Jujutsu High
Trapped inside a supermarket with Utahime Iori, Chingetsu waits for the special-grade Hannya to finish developing so that its exorcism will yield more cursed energy points. He rescues Utahime from an attack, overpowers the curse, extracts the special-grade mirror sustaining it, and destroys it with First Bomb 16 17 18 19.
Recognizing his special-grade strength, Masamichi Yaga offers him education and resources at Jujutsu High. Chingetsu refuses, rejecting the higher-ups’ authority rather than accepting the institution’s protection 20 21.
A figure presenting himself as Kimura then threatens Utahime and offers Chingetsu membership in his group. Chingetsu employs his newly unlocked spatial-erasure ability against the attacker, revealed as Mei, and destroys the Centipede Cursed Spirit emerging from Mei’s body 21 22 23.
Mirror Bait and Continued Hunting
Back at the bar, Chingetsu keeps Hannya’s mirror as bait for the forces operating behind the curse. While he is exorcising a corpse-using frog curse at Takiyama Reservoir, Greed of the Seven Deadly Sins attempts to steal it. The box’s trap takes Greed’s hand and alerts Chingetsu, who returns to reset it 23 28 29.
Chingetsu continues seeking information to accumulate enough energy for Crazy Diamond. At an archery hall, he demands reports on ten Grade 2 curses in exchange for removing the power placed on his informant. He then discovers Yusuke Zenin spying through a swordfish shikigami, defeats him, and erases him before leaving money for the building’s repairs 31 32.
Rescue of Mimiko and Nanako
Although Chingetsu personally rejects Jujutsu High, he accepts Nanami’s decision to enroll there. With Nanami leaving the bar, he considers possible replacements and remembers Mimiko and Nanako’s mistreatment by villagers. He locates their village and books a flight 25 30 32.
During the journey, he encounters Lust carrying Sukuna’s Finger. When the object attracts curses toward the aircraft, Chingetsu intervenes, kills a Grade 1 Slime Cursed Spirit, and deactivates a bomb on the captain’s clothing. He then warns Lust against approaching him 36 38 39.
At the village, the chief and Ueda attempt to kill him and steal his money. Chingetsu kills both, erases part of the sisters’ cage, and invites them home. He begins arranging adoption paperwork that night 41 42.
He later protects the sisters from a man seeking to take them and from three corrupt Street Patrol officers, destroying their weapons before detonating Second Bomb behind him as he leaves. After returning by plane with the children, Chingetsu encounters Toji Fushiguro, who identifies him as his target; the confrontation’s outcome is not shown in the supplied chapters 45 50.
Appearance
Chingetsu is a handsome young man whose face strongly resembles Satoru Gojo’s 3 10 12.
- Hair: Soft, silver hair that falls over his shoulders 6.
- Eyes: Dark or ink-black 6 39.
- Clothing: Wears a loose trench coat, often carrying his kitten inside it 2 45.
- Bearing: Usually composed and elegant, contrasting with Satoru’s more casual manner 6.
Personality
Chingetsu values personal freedom over clan status or institutional approval. His original ambition is a quiet life, but repeated interference convinces him that peace requires overwhelming strength. He regards Jujutsu Society’s “orthodoxy” as authority maintained by force, not an obligation he must respect 1 6 21.
He is merciless toward people who attack him or threaten those close to him. He feels no remorse for killing the hunting squad and deliberately prolongs Chi’s suffering after Nanami is injured. His calm manner often accompanies mockery, intimidation, or extreme violence 3 12 14.
His morality is personal rather than conventionally heroic. He refuses to make “justice” his governing principle and delays fighting Hannya to maximize his gains, yet becomes furious when it kills people before him. Utahime recognizes that he has boundaries of his own rather than simply lacking them 16 19.
Chingetsu nevertheless respects other people’s choices. He supports Nanami’s enrollment at Jujutsu High, explaining that imposing his own dislikes would make him no different from the clan elders. His confidence also does not eliminate caution: he assesses unfamiliar curse abilities and recognizes that hidden enemies could endanger his companions even when they cannot threaten him directly 25 29 30.
Abilities & Skills
Stand System and Energy Absorption
Chingetsu possesses a Stand-based power system unknown to the Gojo Clan. Energy absorbed after exorcisms is converted into fuel for his Stands and reinforcement for his body 1.
- Growth through exorcism: Stronger curses provide greater rewards; the Grade 3 Earthworm yields 30 points, while Grade 1 curses such as the Three-Headed Serpent yield 300 1 6.
- Cursed-object absorption: He can also obtain points from the energy contained in cursed objects 18.
- Source Essence: He absorbs a stream invisible to others after destroying the Centipede Cursed Spirit 23.
- Different from conventional sorcery: Despite his abilities, observers repeatedly perceive him as lacking cursed energy, and he has not inherited Limitless 6 14 50.
Killer Queen — First Bomb
Killer Queen turns things touched by its hands into bombs, including living cursed spirits 1.
- Selective detonation: Can destroy someone touching a bomb while preserving the bomb-object, destroy the object itself, or destroy only part of it 1.
- Projectile attacks: Chingetsu uses an ordinary 100-yen coin to deliver a lethal explosion against the hunting squad 3.
- Controlled destruction: He adjusts the spread of an explosion through the frog curse, destroying its body progressively 29.
- Dormant threats and traps: He plants power on Kusumoto’s face and rigs the container holding Hannya’s mirror 12 29.
- Silent explosions: First Bomb is distinguished from Second Bomb by its silent detonations 6.
Killer Queen — Sheer Heart Attack
Killer Queen’s Second Bomb is a heat-seeking bomb tank released from the back of its left hand 6.
- Automatic pursuit: Tracks heat sources and explodes upon approaching a target 6.
- High durability: Several Grade 2 curse users cannot damage it through their combined attacks 8.
- Repeated use: Does not disappear after exploding; Chingetsu senses its return after the Q branch attack 6 8.
- Physical explosions: Produces conspicuous blasts rather than First Bomb’s silent destruction 6 45.
Spatial Erasure — Bites the Dust / The Hand
The spatial-erasure ability removes matter, including water, fire, and stone, and can erase space itself 22 23.
- Distance removal: Shortens the space between Chingetsu and a target, creating an effect resembling teleportation 22 38.
- Precise cutting: Severs shikigami body parts, cuts apart pistols, and removes sections of barriers or cages 32 41 45.
- Environmental clearing: Erases scalding water and concealing mist 32.
- Potential applications: Precise spatial cuts can create a vacuum-like environment; Chingetsu considers effects resembling Limitless possible through careful use 23.
- Mental requirement: Even immediately after unlocking it, his mental strength is sufficient to erase portions of space 22.
Combined Technique — Invisible Air Bombs
Chingetsu combines spatial erasure with Killer Queen by cutting out pieces of air and converting them into bombs 23.
- Invisible ranged attack: Does not require coins or other carried ammunition 23.
- Demonstrated power: A single hit leaves the Grade 1 Centipede Cursed Spirit half-crippled; subsequent attacks separate it from its host 23.
- Limit: An effectively continuous supply is possible while air and sufficient mental strength remain available 23.
Enhanced Physique and Perception
Years of system reinforcement give Chingetsu extraordinary strength, speed, durability, and eyesight 1 4.
- Strength: Lifts the several-ton Three-Headed Serpent with one hand and crushes a low-grade cursed-tool baton barehanded 5 45.
- Speed: Moves fast enough that Satoru must operate his Six Eyes at full capacity to follow him 5.
- Durability: Stops a knife point with one finger without injury 12.
- Striking power: Produces a shock-wave effect with a punch against the Slime Cursed Spirit 39.
- Detection: Spots a nearly invisible shikigami in mist and tracks Toji’s movements before Toji reveals himself 32 50.
Knowledge and Archery
- Foreknowledge: Knows the broad direction of the world’s original events, including Geto’s possible future and the sisters’ mistreatment, but explicitly lacks complete knowledge of hidden actors and events 10 30 32.
- Jujutsu familiarity: Recognizes Satoru’s neutral Limitless application and evaluates curses by their presence and abilities 4 5 18.
- Archery: Repeatedly hits the bull’s-eye; values the precision, concentration, control, and decisiveness the practice requires 31.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Hannya’s mirror: A special-grade cursed object extracted from Hannya. Rather than immediately absorbing it, Chingetsu keeps it at Dawn Bar to lure out hidden enemies 19 23 29.
- 100-yen coin: Used as an explosive projectile in his self-styled “Railgun” attack 3.
- Bow and arrows: Used during recreational archery practice 31.
- Motorcycle and cash case: Taken from a bank-robbing biker who drives into him. The case contains tens of millions of yen and attracts the village chief’s greed 41.
Relationships
- Satoru Gojo — Younger paternal cousin and closest friend. Satoru trusts Chingetsu, warns him about the clans, and promises to stand beside him as they become the strongest together. Their affection is expressed through frequent teasing 1 4 6.
- Kento Nanami — Bar employee and trusted companion. Chingetsu retaliates brutally against Chi for injuring him, takes him to hospital, and respects his decision to attend Jujutsu High 3 14 25.
- Utahime Iori — Rescued ally who develops feelings for him. She initially questions his indifference to conventional justice, but comes to regard him as exceptionally dependable in a crisis; no reciprocal romance is established 16 17 19 23 31.
- Masamichi Yaga — Persistent would-be recruiter. Yaga recognizes his special-grade strength and hopes Jujutsu High can protect him from the higher-ups, while Chingetsu refuses enrollment without disliking Yaga personally 20 21 23.
- Suguru Geto — An acquaintance whose life Chingetsu saves at Yamada Hospital. Chingetsu knows his possible future but does not consider himself responsible for determining it 10 11 50.
- Mimiko and Nanako — Rescued children taken into his care. He begins adoption arrangements and repeatedly protects them, gradually earning their trust 41 42 45.
- Kusumoto Hajime — Coerced informant. Chingetsu spares him in exchange for information on curses and cursed objects, enforcing obedience through a dormant threat on his face 12.
- Kimura €€suke — Enemy connected to Chi and Mei. Kimura vows revenge after Chi’s death; a later recruitment attempt through Mei ends in another defeat 14 21 22 23.
- Lust — Dangerous stranger attracted to him. Chingetsu avoids initiating a public confrontation but makes clear that he will kill her if she ignores his warning 36 39 40.
- Toji Fushiguro — Opponent who targets him at the airport. Toji becomes especially interested after realizing Chingetsu can follow his movements despite appearing to lack cursed energy 50.
- Pink kitten — Pet that frequently accompanies him inside his coat or on his shoulder, including during curse-hunting trips 2 28 29.
