Scanning with soul power enhanced by Willpower, he saw a distant Midgod heading their way with three Amethyst Monsters.
Over their years of travel, Rhodes and Pash had also learned much about the Amethyst Alliance's strength. It was extremely powerful and had many Midgods.
Most importantly, it had Amethyst Monsters with the strength of Midgods. Their divine bodies were tough, they were powerful, and they did not fear soul attacks. Fortunately, their intelligence was low, or they would long since have swept across this continent and charged into the Central Continent.
They also occasionally picked up news from the other continents. The Demon King of the Central Continent, for instance, was said to be growing ever stronger, slaughtering Midgods like dogs. Watrod, who occupied the Sea of Chaos, was also extraordinarily powerful. Though he had established no organization, he had occupied the entire Sea of Chaos through his own strength alone.
Occasionally, Rhodes even heard rumors about himself. In those rumors, he was also a very formidable figure.
Overall, Hell now had more than a dozen alliances standing at the very top. If Rhodes's organization still had only two Midgods, it probably would not even rank among them now.
Although becoming a deity removed the limits on one's lifespan, in this time shortly after the world's creation, every day was a new beginning.
Leaving aside the four Divine Realms, Hell alone was boundless. In such a vast place, it was impossible for one person to claim every opportunity. Others would also encounter opportunities and rise.
Perhaps the organization Rhodes had established was not strong now, but with his current personal strength, he alone was an entire force.
Not to mention that he now had Pash, who was no weakling, with him.
In a world where great power resided within the individual, only one's own strength was true strength.
"We're finally reaching the Amethyst Mountains. I believe that once my soul reaches the limit of a Midgod, my strength will improve again."
Rhodes pondered.
Before the member of the Amethyst Alliance arrived, Rhodes opened the system, which he had not checked in a long time.
Host: Rhodes (Wind-Thunder Divine Roc) Realm: Midgod (Lightning Element Midgod, Wind Element Midgod) Innate divine ability: Heaven and Earth Extreme Speed, (???) Willpower: 50% Profound Mysteries of the Laws of Lightning: Lightning Element, Profound Mystery of Judgment, Lightning Speed Profound Mystery (three profound mysteries completely fused) Wind law profound mysteries: Speed Profound Mystery, profundity of sound waves, sound profound mystery (the fast and slow profound mysteries have fused into the Speed Profound Mystery) Overall strength: Six-Star Demon (the strength of a Highgod who has fused three profound mysteries) (innate divine abilities excluded)
Learning over the years that these alliances were all so powerful had not worried Rhodes in the slightest, precisely because he had completely fused three profound mysteries of the Lightning Law over these past few decades.
Less than two thousand years after the world's creation, he already possessed the strength of a Six-Star Demon. Perhaps he was much slower than the protagonist, Linley, but one had to consider how much training and fighting Linley had gone through since childhood. And Rhodes? He had gone through none of that crap. He had been Saint-level from birth and a deity upon reaching adulthood. Cultivating on his own had further accelerated his attainment of divinity. There had been no great accumulation of experience waiting to bear fruit; he could only marvel at how heaven-defying the Thunder Crystal was.
Rhodes looked at Pash as he flew over, a smile appearing on his face. Pash, by contrast, looked utterly helpless. "Laugh if you want. Don't hurt yourself holding it in!"
"Haha, my good brother, it's fine. I'll stop after laughing a little longer."
Over these years, Pash had come to understand some of Rhodes's mischievous tastes. There was no malice in it; he laughed only because they were close. Otherwise, even if someone else died from sheer bad luck, Rhodes would not spare them another glance.
Ignoring Rhodes, who was still laughing, Pash continued, "Did you discover something else?"
Rhodes's smile slowly faded as well. "Yes. Let's wait a little. It's someone we're looking for. The thing I mentioned that strengthens the soul is in their hands."
Pash also spread out his soul perception. Before long, he finally sensed a humanoid Midgod entering his range of perception with three purple monsters.
"The Amethyst Alliance? After traveling all these years, we're finally getting there," Pash murmured to himself, a divine gleam beginning to appear in his eyes. After all, the Zijing Couple were renowned throughout Hell, and such a reputation could not be undeserved.
At that thought, he involuntarily tightened his grip on his battle saber, watching the one person and four beasts draw closer.
"Who goes there? Have you seen two Midgods passing through here with a group of Lowgods?" the young Midgod asked Rhodes and Pash.
Why had he first asked whether they had seen the people he was looking for instead of attacking outright? Because Bollet had met Kadia and his brother. A person's soul aura could not be changed, so he could naturally recognize at a glance whether they were the ones he sought.
"They're dead. What, have you come to avenge them?" Rhodes looked at the newcomer with interest, a faint smile on his lips. Pash tightened his grip on his battle saber even further. They had not even met the Zijing Couple yet, and they had already made an enemy. This was certainly interesting.
Rhodes and Pash each casually took out the divine artifacts belonging to Kadia and his brother and displayed them, then their auras began to fluctuate.
Hearing this, Bollet considered what he had observed. The surrounding natural elements had fluctuated violently just now, so there should have been a battle, and the two had indeed produced the brothers' divine artifacts. Now isn't the time to think about this. At that thought, Bollet hurriedly said, "I'm Bollet, an elder of the Amethyst Alliance. I was ordered to hunt down Kadia and his brother. I'm not with them."
As he hurriedly explained, Bollet felt that if he spoke even a moment later, the young man opposite him with long, blood-red hair might charge at him.
Immediately after finishing that statement, he asked, "Have you two come to join our Amethyst Alliance? I'm Bollet, an elder of the Amethyst Alliance and chief of the Earth Giant Clan. May I ask your names?"
Just now, when the two men's divine power had fluctuated, Bollet had sensed that neither was weaker than him. That was why he had also asked whether they had come to join the Amethyst Alliance. If these two joined, the alliance would grow even stronger.
The impatient Pash glanced at Rhodes. Rhodes understood what he meant: should they speak plainly or be roundabout? Rhodes spread his hands, looking utterly casual. His Six-Star Demon strength was what gave him the confidence to act so casually.
"We're here to look for soul amethyst and, while we're at it, have a fight with the Zijing Couple-a sparring match. You can show us the way while you're at it!" After speaking, Pash quietly looked at Bollet, who had called himself the third elder of the Amethyst Alliance.
Hearing this, Bollet weighed things inwardly. If he held one of them off, could the Amethyst Monsters quickly finish the other? Thinking of his strongest innate divine ability for physical defense, he figured he should be able to keep one of them firmly occupied!
"Impossible. As an elder of the alliance, how could I bring people with ulterior intentions like you into the alliance?"
Watching the young man speak so unyieldingly, Rhodes was just about to express his admiration and then strike to send him to his death, only to nearly choke on the man's next words.
"Unless you can defeat me, I won't show you the way even if I die!" Bollet declared with absolute resolve.
"Next time, say everything in one go. Is everyone in your Earth Giant Clan like you?" Rhodes looked at Bollet curiously, feeling that this so-called alliance elder was somewhat unreliable.
"Defeat me first, then we'll talk. If you can't even beat me, don't go looking for our leaders," Bollet told Rhodes and the others.
In truth, although Rhodes wanted to use amethyst to strengthen his soul, he did not want relations with the Zijing Couple to become too strained.
The Four Divine Beasts were friends with the Zijing Couple. They had even stood up for Zijing and opposed a Sovereign of a certain element. Rhodes suspected that it might have been the first Fate Sovereign, because the original story had explicitly stated that among the Sovereigns of the four Edicts, only the Fate Sovereign had been replaced. Orloff was the second Fate Sovereign.
Who knew when that friendship had begun? If things went too far and they invited those four fellows over to unleash a combined innate divine ability, wouldn't he be done for?
With that thought, Rhodes prepared to act himself and defeat this man as quickly as possible, then meet the Zijing Couple and see whether a friendly exchange could get him some amethyst for free.
"Pash, I'll handle this one. Keep an eye on those three Amethyst Monsters."
"All right!"
