History
Primordial Life and the Age of the Gods
Firmament Star’s first living being was the Lord of the Gods. Other primordial beings appeared before the Heavenly Dao existed and possessed immense innate power. Calling themselves gods, they ruled the planet. The later emergence of the Heavenly Dao established order; beings born afterward were weaker initially but retained considerable potential for growth, especially humans 762.
During the Immemorial Antiquity Age of the Gods, humans offered faith in exchange for divine assistance. By studying nature and divine powers, they eventually developed cultivation and became less dependent on the gods 640.
Early humanity was organized into tribes. Among the ten great tribes, the Star-Slayer Tribe was initially the strongest, while the Flame Martial Tribe ranked last. The latter’s development accelerated through cultivation instruction, alchemy, and Artifact Refining 775.
Cultivation Inheritance and the War Against the Gods
According to Myriad Laws Dao Lord, an Immortal visited when cultivation was still young and left an immortal art. After generations failed to comprehend it, a powerful human cultivator divided it into nine Emperor Techniques recorded on scrolls. The original stone wall bearing the art was subsequently lost 754.
Conflict arose when the Deities sought to enslave humanity. The War Against the Gods ended with their defeat and sealing in the Endless Void, though their eventual release remained a threat to Firmament Star 658.
Blood Tribe Invasion and the Dharma-Ending Age
The Blood Tribe arrived twelve Epochs before the Star-Transforming Great Emperor’s explanation of the conflict, intending to enslave Firmament Star. Its Emperors prevented the invaders from reaching the planet, but the war inflicted enormous casualties and damaged the Heavenly Dao 658.
As the Heavenly Dao deteriorated, fewer Emperors appeared. It eventually entered dormancy to recover, leaving Firmament Star in a Dharma-Ending Age. No new Emperor appeared for more than a hundred thousand years, while the surviving defenders continued fighting beyond the planet 652 658 794.
Great Age of Strife and the Demon Realm Crisis
The Great Age of Strife brought renewed competition over Emperor inheritances. Qian Emperor Palace appeared, and previously concealed Unknowable Places entered the wider world. Several—including Guixu, the Xuanhuang Divine Palace, the Death Sacred Hall, Mountain-Sea Tower, and Piaomiao Heaven—announced a campaign against the Mystic Heaven Sect 390 404.
A separate catastrophe began when the Yellow Springs Grand Formation broke. Demonic qi spread across Firmament Star, killing cultivators, driving commoners berserk, and freeing sealed Demonic Beasts. The weakened Heavenly Dao prevented off-world Emperors from descending safely to intervene 487 488.
Chu Kuangren gathered hundreds of millions of swords and spiritual power from the planet’s swordsmen. With the Sealing Sword Formation, he destroyed the Demon Emperor avatars and sealed the Demon Realm Passage 494.
Heavenly Dao Revival and the Return of Emperors
After recovering through more than an Epoch of self-evolution, the Heavenly Dao formed nine Emperor Positions. Chu Kuangren, Lan Yu, and Murong Xuan became Emperors, giving the Mystic Heaven Sect three Emperor-level cultivators at once 652 658.
Returning Emperors claimed responsibility for guiding new Emperors and guarding sealed Deities. Chu Kuangren exposed their additional interest in the treasures expected to emerge as the planet recovered. They subsequently divided Firmament Star into three hundred Dao Provinces, each assigned an Emperor overseer 658 660.
The renewed spiritual environment also coincided with the release of Deities. Xuanhuang Dao Lord later admitted helping break their seals and proposed cooperating with them to seize other civilizations’ resources. Luo Shui rejected the proposal 678 800.
Founding of the Firmament Empire
After the Deity threat was resolved, Chu Kuangren and the Dao Lords reorganized the planet’s internal affairs and the soldiers and civilians of the Eighty-One Fortresses. Elder Ruyan took responsibility for implementing the development plans 819 821.
Within half a year, practically every significant Human Race faction accepted the new empire’s jurisdiction. Resistant Emperor-led traditions were subdued by the Dao Lords. The nation took the name Firmament, adopted Kaiyuan as its era name, and established Mystic Heaven City as its capital 821 829.
The empire’s founding was challenged by the Blood God’s attempt to turn Firmament Star into an enslaved colony. After the empire was established, Chu Kuangren entrusted its administration to Gu Linglong and Elder Ruyan and left a Heavenly Dao Lord Battle Puppet behind before departing to explore the universe 831 832.
Conflict with Extraterrestrial Powers
Firmament Star’s defenders began taking the initiative against incoming enemies, intercepting a Blood Tribe fleet before it reached the planet. Purple Star later ordered the destruction of Firmament Star as retaliation against Chu Kuangren; its Yellow Dharma Protector encountered the battle puppet and the planet’s Heavenly Dao instead 822 869 870.
The Heavenly Dao Sect subsequently targeted the planet for its unusually powerful Heavenly Dao. Immortal Qingsong intended to conquer it so the Kun Lineage’s Daoist Seed could absorb that power. Gu Linglong, the Dao Lords, and the Five Elements Divine Shadow Army defended the world while Chu Kuangren’s allies traveled from the Azure Emperor Star System to reinforce it 1047 1048.
Qingsong’s retreat was followed by attacks involving Iron Blade Immortal and then the Kun Heavenly Daoist Seed. The Daoist Seed identified the planet’s exceptional growth potential and demanded submission 1049 1050 1052.
Interstellar Expansion
Following Chu Kuangren’s return, Firmament Star recruited Dust Heaven Void Immortal, Shenyue Dao Lord, and other influential cultivators to support a system-wide takeover. A three-day strategic meeting established invasion routes and policies for administering submitted civilizations 1055 1057.
Under Gu Linglong and Elder Ruyan, the empire brought nearly the entire Purple-Gold Star System under its control within three years. Gold Star submitted as well, and Firmament Star became the system’s undisputed overlord. Its dominance prompted widespread use of the name Firmament Star System 1057.
By Chu Kuangren’s later return, native new-generation Immortals had appeared and imperial territory encompassed dozens of neighboring star systems. Rapid expansion nevertheless left concealed opposition, including a plot to assassinate Gu Linglong under the guise of presenting tribute 1118 1120.
Later Imperial Unrest
Within a few decades, the empire became a major universal power governing hundreds to roughly a thousand star systems. News of Chu Kuangren’s supposed death caused unrest, while the Five Elements Divine Shadow Army’s prolonged slumber weakened its deterrent power 1786 1787.
The Heavenly Dao Sect and allied traitors attempted to force the empire’s submission, attacking its Imperial Capital. Gu Linglong rejected their demands and confronted Tai Yunzi. Chu Kuangren’s subsequent Life-Giving Creation restored the capital’s damaged vitality and strengthened the entire planet 1788 1796.
Government and Civilization
- Imperial administration: Gu Linglong handles affairs of state, supported by Elder Ruyan and established institutions for governing multiple civilizations. Matters involving civilizations with Immortals still require her personal review 832 1118.
- Demon Race relations: Following the empire’s establishment, Chu Kuangren arranges diplomatic relations with the Demon Race rather than treating all planetary inhabitants as a single political bloc 832.
- Pact of the Emperors: Emperors are prohibited from casually interfering in the affairs of lower-ranked cultivators, protecting the development of potential reinforcements for the Extraterrestrial Battlefield 660.
- Cultivation resources: The restored Heavenly Dao increases spiritual qi, treasure production, and the ease of cultivation. Later strengthening produces successive generations of young Great Emperors, Dao Lords, and eventually native Immortals 680 1055 1118.
- Knowledge acquisition: Purple Star Civilization’s Library Pavilion is relocated to Firmament Star for the empire to study 916.
Defenses and Military
| Defense / Force | Function and Limitations |
|---|---|
| Hate Separation Heaven Formation | Golden planetary barrier that protects Firmament Star against the Blood Tribe for twelve Epochs. It also limits collateral damage from nearby Dao Lord battles 737 757. |
| Formation anchors | Originally include Dao Lords who turn themselves into formation cores. Chu Kuangren later orders their replacement with Main God Godheads, freeing the cultivators but introducing a finite energy supply 737 818. |
| Eighty-One Fortresses | Off-world defensive network supporting the war against the Blood Tribe. During the Blood Abyss offensive, its garrisons rely on fortress formations because blood mist suppresses Emperors and is lethal to lower-ranked cultivators 701 756. |
| Dao Lords | Twenty-four known Dao Lords initially serve on the Extraterrestrial Battlefield, representing the civilization’s highest combat power at that stage. Both humans and members of the Demon Race are included 733. |
| Heavenly Dao Lord Battle Puppet | Left by Chu Kuangren as an imperial safeguard. It uses his likeness, the Human King Seal, the Invincible Law, and Firmament Star’s Heavenly Dao against the Yellow Dharma Protector 832 870. |
| Five Elements Divine Shadow Army | Defends the planet during the Heavenly Dao Sect crisis. In the later imperial era, its thousand-plus Golden Immortals are described as a principal basis of imperial expansion, though the army eventually enters prolonged slumber 1047 1786. |
| Human King Seal | Fortune Treasure whose strength rises with the Firmament Human Race’s fortune. It participates in planetary defense but is overpowered by the Kun Heavenly Daoist Seed 1049 1052. |
| Imperial warships | Developed by Red Sun Dao Lord and Formation Dao Lord. An early prototype destroys an uninhabited planet with one cannon shot, exceeding minor Dao Lord peak power but consuming one-fifth of its reserves 821. |
Heavenly Dao
Nature
- Firmament Star’s Heavenly Dao maintains the planet’s orderly operation and embodies the collective consciousness of the world and its countless living beings 784.
- It manifests as a Little Golden Man, capable of interacting with Chu Kuangren and independently refining Heavenly Dao Power 1796.
- Its condition directly affects the planet’s ability to accommodate powerful cultivators; before its restoration, an Emperor’s forced descent could have ended the recovering great era 488 656.
Connection to Chu Kuangren
- Star Lord authority: Chu Kuangren can summon Firmament Star’s Heavenly Dao in defense of the planet 870.
- Union with the Dao: Drawing on its power allows him to suppress an opponent’s Dao, as demonstrated against the White King 751.
- Growth through absorption: Heavenly Daos acquired by Chu Kuangren strengthen both his own access to Heavenly Dao Power and the cultivation environment of his homeworld 898 1049.
- Civilizational benefit: Its advancement benefits the planet’s inhabitants collectively rather than strengthening only its Star Lord 898 1796.
