Background / History

The Fuma Clan is a long-known shinobi clan originally from the Land of Rice. Before the founding of the Sound Village, the country had no ninja village, preventing the clan from establishing itself as a centralized village-affiliated force. Its members consequently became scattered across battlefields and lacked internal regulation and cohesion. 2 3

The clan was historically recognized for large ninja tools; the renowned Fuma Shuriken originated with them. Their inherited legacy also includes mechanical ninja-tool designs, tool-linked jutsu formulas, and several clan techniques. 3 58

A relatively peaceful Land of Rice contributed to the clan's decline. Many members left in search of development, while those remaining became bandits operating from a small mountain settlement. Decline in the Land of Rice

By the time Yue sought them out, the remaining Fuma Clan had dwindled to roughly thirty people in a secluded mountain stronghold. Though still nominally a ninja clan, they relied on robbery and murder and were closer to bandits than village shinobi. 56

The clan remained divided between attachment to its ancestral homeland and its long-standing desire to recover its former prestige. 56 57

Yue's challenge and succession

Yue proposed relocating the clan to Kusagakure, arguing that only participation in a ninja village could return them to the ninja world's stage. When challenged over his authority, he invoked the clan rule that the strongest and most qualified person should lead its restoration. 56

He defeated two Fuma Jonin with ease. Fuma Ike then acknowledged Yue's superiority and formally named him the Fuma Clan's youngest leader. 57

Reorganization and Grass Village plan

As Patriarch, Yue imposed strict rules and pursued absolute control over the previously undisciplined clan. He disclosed his intention to help seize control of Grass Village, providing the clan with a concrete path toward influence rather than empty promises of restoration. 58

The clan's plan depended on cooperation with Ryuga: the Fuma Clan would provide personnel support during Grass Village's political transition, while Ryuga would facilitate their entry into the village. 58 59

Land of Wind training expedition

Yue gathered more than twenty able-bodied members and led them to the Land of Wind to develop through Underground Bounty Exchange missions. Meanwhile, noncombat members remained in the Land of Rice to collect intelligence and preserve the clan's local connections. 59

The group lost members infiltrating the Land of Wind and throughout months of assassination work. By the campaign's end, only twelve of the original force remained, but their combat ability, resolve, and discipline had markedly improved. 61 64

Integration into Grass Village

With Ryuga's Father's assistance, ten Fuma members were discreetly brought into Grass Village, assigned housing and low-profile jobs under fabricated identities. Grass Flower's elders knew their background and viewed them as potential private soldiers, while Grass Seed remained unaware. 66

Yue trained the members in village ninjutsu and used Grass Village's resources to accelerate their development. The clan also participated in the power-usurpation plan that dismantled the existing elder-based order, though Ryuga publicly received credit for the operation. 66 69

Rise of Grass Village

During the Third Shinobi World War, the Fuma Clan's improved strength and Yue's support increased Ryuga's standing within the Grass Flower faction. 68
