Background / History

Transmigration and Spirit Hall

After transmigrating to the Douluo Continent, Fang Yuan finds the divine souls of the future Qian Renxue and Bibi Dong within his Sea of Consciousness, each carrying a shattered godhood. Over six years, he mediates their disputes and helps them coexist. Neither woman initially activates his Fate System, so he seeks out Spirit Hall after realizing that their younger counterparts might qualify as fate-changing targets 1.

Following his Martial Soul awakening in Spirit City, Fang Yuan joins Spirit Hall and is brought before Qian Xunji. He binds his Fate System to the seven-year-old Bibi Dong and arranges for Qian Renxue to reveal her divine identity and future family connections. Her revelations expose Qian Xunji’s future assault on Bibi Dong and draw Qian Daoliu into the dispute 1 2 3 4.

When Spirit Hall’s elders suspect the young Bibi Dong because of her future betrayal, Fang Yuan argues against punishing her for events that have not occurred. He wins her trust, accepts Qian Daoliu as his master, and is named Spirit Hall’s Holy Son. Qian Daoliu grants him access to the organization’s resources 6 7.

Changing Spirit Hall’s Future

Fang Yuan conceals his system by presenting its functions as the Nine Trials of the God of Fate, claiming that his first trial requires changing Little Bibi Dong’s fate. Qian Renxue and Rakshasa Bibi Dong agree to assist him, hoping that his advancement will allow them to return to life 12.

After both divine souls strengthen him, Fang Yuan tests his first three Soul Skills against Qian Daoliu. His attacks receive extraordinary assessments, but Qian Daoliu easily overcomes his control effects. Sacred Judgment subsequently exposes Demon Subduing Douluo’s private regrets during their spar, prompting Fang Yuan to leave before becoming the focus of his embarrassment 20 21 22.

At the Angel Temple, Fang Yuan opposes killing Tang San’s parents as a preventive measure. He argues that Tang San could possess a different infant, costing Spirit Hall its information advantage. Instead, he proposes recruiting Ah Yin and suggests transferring Qian Yuhan’s Angel Godhood to Qian Renxue in the hope that their godhoods can fuse 23 24.

Sunset Forest Expedition

Fang Yuan directs Yue Guan to investigate whale rubber as a body-strengthening resource, then reveals the location of the immortal herbs in Sunset Forest. He reserves their distribution for allies, promising shares to Little Bibi Dong, Qian Renxue, and Yue Guan 28 29.

During the expedition, he identifies a Medusa Snake Emperor as a possible source of a head soul bone and gives the recovered bone to Gui Mei through Yue Guan. At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, he initially declines herbs for himself and asks Yue Guan to select a regimen for Little Bibi Dong 30 31.

After rewarding Yue Guan with a Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, Fang Yuan offers Qian Renxue a system-rewarded Lovesick Heartbreak Red. She then condenses three additional hundred-thousand-year rings for him, raising him to Level 65 32 33.

Appearance

Fang Yuan’s appearance changes rapidly through divine-power tempering rather than ordinary aging 15 33.

Fang Yuan is politically pragmatic. He recognizes that treating Little Bibi Dong as a future traitor could help create the very betrayal Spirit Hall fears, and instead advocates earning her loyalty. He similarly rejects forcibly capturing Ah Yin because her resistance would undermine his plans 7 24.

He is playful and calculating in personal interactions, teasing Little Bibi Dong into calling him “senior brother” and disguising his system as a divine examination. His generosity also serves practical ends: distributing soul bones and immortal herbs earns the loyalty of powerful Spirit Hall elders 11 12 29 30 32.

Despite his rapid growth, Fang Yuan recognizes dangerous mismatches. He stops testing offensive skills against Qian Daoliu when the cultivation gap makes the exercise unhelpful and risks spiritual backlash 21.
