Background / History

Golden Crocodile Douluo is a veteran of Spirit Hall whose age and seniority place him a generation above Qian Daoliu. Despite this, he addresses Qian Daoliu as “Elder brother” and serves under him as the Second Worship. By the time he is assigned to protect Lu Xuan, he has not left Spirit Hall for fifty years 41.

He witnessed Chen Jianjun’s visit to Spirit Hall to challenge Qian Daoliu’s swordsmanship. Although Chen Jianjun lost decisively, Golden Crocodile remembered Qian Daoliu praising him as “the very pinnacle of sword Soul Masters.” He later considers Chen Xin’s resolve and swordsmanship comparable to Chen Jianjun’s 50.

Personality

Golden Crocodile is unwaveringly loyal to Spirit Hall. He accepts responsibility for Lu Xuan’s safety once Qian Daoliu explains that the young swordsman’s uncertainty could undermine his strength in a crisis 41.

His approach to nurturing talent combines practical assessment with a willingness to take calculated risks. After examining Lu Xuan, he supports attempting a thousand-year first Soul Ring, but explicitly warns that the repeated tearing and healing of the meridians would cause extraordinary pain 5.

He is combative and proud without being unable to recognize another fighter’s strength. He admires Tang Hao’s desperate attack while refusing to retreat before a level 93 opponent. Toward Lu Xuan, he is openly affectionate and encouraging, showing both concern for his injuries and pride in his achievements 46 50.

His judgment also extends to factional politics. He refuses to accompany Lu Xuan openly to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect because the arrival of Spirit Hall’s Second Worship could make a swordsmanship challenge look like an attack by Spirit Hall 47.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Supporting Lu Xuan’s Early Development

Qian Daoliu summons Golden Crocodile to assess the six-year-old Lu Xuan’s physique. His findings support Lu Xuan’s request for a thousand-year first Soul Ring, helping persuade Qian Daoliu to permit the attempt. He then escorts Lu Xuan to rest and later arranges meals to support his physical development 5 7.

Secret Guardian on the Sword-Heart Journey

When Lu Xuan leaves to seek his sword heart, Golden Crocodile follows secretly at Qian Daoliu’s request. At the Wind Sword Sect, he witnesses Life-Severing Slash and judges Lu Xuan capable of rivaling Titled Douluos below rank 95 41 42.

He reveals himself in Nuoding City to intercept Tang Hao’s attack. After Tang Hao dies, Golden Crocodile retrieves his Soul Bones and agrees to guard Lu Xuan while he obtains Xiao Wu’s Soul Ring. He also locates the hidden waterfall cave and opens the box containing the Blue Silver Emperor’s hundred-thousand-year right leg bone 45 46.

Chen Xin’s Challenge and the Divine Sword

Golden Crocodile lets Lu Xuan approach the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect alone but continues watching in secret. After the duel, he catches the injured Lu Xuan and escorts him to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to recuperate 47 50.

When the actual Asura God Sword descends, he initially treats it as a threat and prepares to defend Lu Xuan with his full strength. He stands down after learning that it is a divine weapon delivering a God-bestowed Soul Ring 51.

Hunting the Forest Overlords

Golden Crocodile accompanies Lu Xuan to the Lake of Life and holds off the Titan Giant Ape while Lu Xuan fights the Sky Azure Bull Python. His intervention prevents the ape from rescuing its sworn brother and protects Lu Xuan’s opportunity to absorb the python’s Soul Ring 52 53.

Afterward, he recalls the location of another hundred-thousand-year fire-attribute Soul Beast. Finding its volcanic lair empty, he returns to Spirit City with Lu Xuan and suggests consulting Qian Daoliu or using Spirit Hall’s resources to search the ocean 54.

Title Ceremony and Papal Succession

At Lu Xuan’s investiture, Golden Crocodile leads the other five Enshrined in manifesting their Martial Souls behind Qian Daoliu, helping reveal Spirit Hall’s previously concealed military strength 56.

Following Bibi Dong’s death, Qian Daoliu names him as the administrator who will support the new Pope, Qian Renxue, whenever her Angel God Trial or travels take her away from Spirit City 60.
