Rebirth and Childhood

Lu Xuan died at eighteen in his previous life when a Dayun truck struck him on a building’s sixth floor. Reborn as an infant, he recognized Douluo Continent through his parents’ conversations about martial souls and soul rings 1 6.

His father possessed an ordinary iron sword martial soul with level 3 innate soul power, while his mother possessed a soft sword with level 2 innate soul power. When Lu Xuan was two and a half, his mother reached level 20. Both parents left to obtain her next ring and never returned. Sword Dao Village’s residents collectively fed and clothed him until his awakening 1.

Recruitment into Spirit Hall

During Su Mingyuan’s awakening ceremony, Lu Xuan’s system offered nine beginner rewards and allowed him to choose four. His selections produced two god-level martial souls whose red and emerald-gold pillars of light attracted the attention of continental powers and deities 1 3.

Lu Xuan readily joined Spirit Hall, regarding its resources and Yue Guan’s knowledge of immortal herbs as the best means to accelerate his growth. When Qian Daoliu and Bibi Dong both sought him as a disciple, he chose Qian Daoliu for his greater control over Spirit Hall’s resources 2 4.

Training and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well

Qian Daoliu taught him soul-power circulation and the Angel Sword Technique, while Golden Crocodile Douluo assessed his physique. Rather than accept a conventional first ring, Lu Xuan insisted on attempting a thousand-year ring to exploit his exceptional recovery and physical strength 5 11.

Using his knowledge of the setting, Lu Xuan described the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well as a recurring dream. Yue Guan identified it, prompting Spirit Hall to dispatch an expedition. Beneath the spring, the Water and Fire Dragon Kings’ remnant souls offered him a million-year torso bone, asking him to look after the Soul Beast Clan if he someday attained supreme power 12 14 15.

The Two Gods’ Trials

The Goddess of Life and Asura God jointly selected Lu Xuan for their Nine Trials. Asura’s five-year deadline to cross Hell Road took priority over Life’s ten-year deadline to climb the Life God Tree 23.

In Slaughter City, his cannon-based combat earned him the name Mechanical Pioneer. His reputation eventually made opponents reluctant to enter arena matches against him. After traversing Hell Road, he devoted himself to the Life God Tree, using its pressure to cultivate before completing the climb 27 29 30 32.

Asura’s Second Trial forced him through successive lives of slaughter. Early attempts erased his identity and emotions, while later failures produced law-bound bodily cracks that his Life Energy could not heal. He eventually completed the required ordeal after two years. He subsequently crossed the Sea of Life, completing Life’s Second Trial 37 38 39.

Search for His Sword Heart

Seeking the meaning behind wielding a sword, Lu Xuan consulted Qian Daoliu and traveled to meet other swordsmen. His journey included the Wind Sword Sect, a return to Sword Dao Village, and a challenge to Sword Douluo Chen Xin 41 42 43 48.

At home, he restored his parents’ gravestone and received the village chief’s reassurance that he could always return. He then went to Nuoding City to eliminate Tang San as a future threat. He killed Tang San and Yu Xiaogang; Golden Crocodile Douluo intercepted Tang Hao’s retaliatory attack 43 45.

Lu Xuan’s encounter with Chen Xin completed Asura’s Third Trial. After their sword clash, he thanked Chen Xin for his guidance but affirmed that he already had his own goal and path 49.

Arbitration Elder

After Lu Xuan returned as a Super Douluo, Qian Daoliu arranged a grand title ceremony to announce his disciple to the continent. Lu Xuan was subsequently appointed Spirit Hall’s Arbitration Elder 54 58.

He asked Qian Daoliu to disclose the truth about Qian Renxue’s parents, exposing Qian Xunji’s assault of Bibi Dong and Bibi Dong’s later killing of him. Lu Xuan then declared Bibi Dong an Evil Soul Master, removed her as Pope, and executed her. His final attack destroyed her body, soul, Death Spider Emperor martial soul, and half the Papal Palace 58 59.

Appearance

Lu Xuan develops from a porcelain-doll-like child into a tall, sharp-featured youth whose cold bearing reflects his slaughter trials 7 27 42.

Personality

Lu Xuan combines a humorous inner monologue with practical ambition. He evaluates factions by their resources, uses his knowledge of the original story to secure opportunities, and deliberately seeks advantages that let him overpower opponents above his level 2 4 20.

He is competitive and dislikes being patronized. After Qian Renxue defeated him in three wooden-sword moves, he trained until he could reverse the result in an unrestricted spar. His determination also drives him to endure dangerous ring absorptions and persist through divine trials despite genuine fear 5 11 18 31 38.

His ruthlessness toward perceived threats contrasts with his attachment to home. He deliberately targets Tang San and executes Bibi Dong, yet becomes visibly emotional around the village chief and his parents’ grave. The slaughter trials leave him outwardly cold without erasing those attachments 43 45 58 59.

His right-hand martial soul is a dark-red sword bearing dark-gold patterns and an aura of slaughter and judgment 2 4.
