A Soul Ring contains the source energy required for a Martial Soul's evolution. Absorbing one is ordinarily necessary for a Soul Master to cross a Soul Power bottleneck, while the absorbed energy can also produce a soul skill. 210 211
Most Soul Rings are left behind when a Soul Beast is killed. It is stated that only the person responsible for killing the beast can absorb its ring, making soul-ring hunts both vital and contested. 30
