Background / History

Fu Hua was one of the eight strongest Flame Moth warriors of the Previous Era and participated in the final battle against the Herrscher of the End. She and Kevin survived, returned to Earth through cryosleep, and entered the Current Era. Entrusted by Mei with preserving civilization's knowledge and culture, Fu Hua settled in Shenzhou under the name Chiyuan, traveling with Cang Xuan and Danzhu while safeguarding the Xuanyuan Sword project. 2528

In the unfamiliar world of the Great Tang, Fu Hua initially feels isolated. She summons the Book of Cang Xuan Armed Doll—later called Cang Xiaoxuan—because the familiar companion eases her loneliness. 2409 2420

She receives a mission to establish a Taoist temple, recruit nine disciples with at least Class A aptitude, and preserve her teachings for ten thousand years. Completing it will reward her with 100,000 Crystal and a permanent discount on New World Tickets. Though reluctant to take personal disciples because of her past, she accepts the task. 2411

Appearance

Fu Hua is an exceptionally beautiful, gray-haired woman whose detached bearing causes mortals to compare her to a heavenly immortal. She is 165 cm tall, a normal height in Shenzhou but unusually tall in the Eastern Seas. 2425 2494 2688

  • Usually wears female Daoist attire and carries a paper umbrella that doubles as a sword. 2420 2551
  • Her ordinary demeanor is described as heroic and spirited even in women's clothing. 2489
  • Can convincingly disguise herself as a refined young man in white robes, with altered voice and concealed feminine features. 2458 2459
  • Her masculine presentation is striking enough to attract admirers regardless of gender. 2458 2471 2723

Personality

Fu Hua is calm, self-contained, and frequently indifferent to social expectations. She avoids becoming involved in ordinary mortal disputes unless she identifies a threat, injustice, or responsibility requiring her intervention. She is also notably uninterested in wealth and declined Steward Lu's reward after saving him. 2410 2435

Despite her aloof exterior, Fu Hua values companionship and quietly accommodates those close to her. She indulges Cang Xiaoxuan's requests, shares food with her companions, and gives vulnerable disciples protection and opportunities to improve. 2420 2526 2543

As a master, she values loyalty, filial piety, gratitude, and perseverance over simple talent or saintly morality. She is willing to give flawed people a chance to reform, but remains pragmatic about the danger of betrayal. 2441 2446 2448

Fu Hua can also be uncompromising when protecting those she has chosen. She uses a Divine Key to compel Fujiwara no Fuhito to annul Mei Hong's engagement, placing Mei Hong's freedom above conventional methods. 2797
