History

Transmigration and Nuoding Academy

Tang San is a transmigrator living in the same era as Lin En. Lin En discovers his existence before their academy enrollment but conceals his own transmigrator identity out of fear of Tang Hao 1.

At Nuoding Academy’s entrance, Yu Xiaogang recognizes the significance of Tang San possessing Blue Silver Grass alongside innate full soul power. Tang San, whose knowledge of the world is still limited, welcomes his explanations and subsequently kneels to accept him as his teacher 2 3.

Tang Hao permits the apprenticeship for a different reason: he hopes Yu Xiaogang’s connection to Bibi Dong will provide access to the method of safely cultivating twin martial souls. He secretly follows Tang San’s first soul hunt and intervenes when he distrusts Yu Xiaogang’s choice of potential prey 7.

Defeat by Lin En

After obtaining his first ring, Tang San is drawn into a dormitory dispute when Xiao Wu asks him to teach Lin En a lesson. He recognizes her attempt to use him against Lin En and initially declines, but eventually agrees to a friendly spar 8.

Sageross repeatedly cuts through Blue Silver Entanglement. Tang San briefly evades its attacks with Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, then uses Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon to reduce the force of a charge. The remaining impact sends him flying and ends the match 8 9.

Lin En argues that poison is ineffective if the fragile grass cannot reach its target, recommending Lone Bamboo to improve toughness. Tang San momentarily questions his teacher, but Yu Xiaogang restores his confidence and promises a Lone Bamboo second ring. The defeat remains a motivation throughout the following three years 9 10.

Although Tang San privately wishes to follow a power-attack path, he accepts Yu Xiaogang’s control-system plan. He consoles himself that his concealed hammer, rather than Blue Silver Grass, is his truly important martial soul 10.

Shrek and the Titan Giant Ape

After graduating from Nuoding Academy, Tang San joins Shrek. His reunion with Lin En in the Star Dou Great Forest is cold, and Sageross’s increased strength makes him question Yu Xiaogang’s claim that Lin En could not develop properly without his instruction 12 48 49.

When the Titan Giant Ape carries Xiao Wu away, Tang San attacks with hidden weapons but is struck into a tree. After recovering enough to move, he pursues it with Blue Silver Pole Vault. Unable to catch up, he stops to obtain a thousand-year Lone Bamboo ring, hoping its movement skill will close the distance 51 53.

He ultimately loses the trail. His distress sparks an argument with Dai Mubai, who offers to find him another girl if Xiao Wu has died. Tang San declares Xiao Wu his little sister and most important family member, refusing Dai Mubai’s apology 57.

Xiao Wu returns safely but steps away from his attempted embrace. Tang San is embarrassed, yet accepts that discomfort as insignificant beside her survival. He then supports searching for the missing Ning Rongrong 57 58.

Shrek’s Reckoning and Escape

During another confrontation, Tang San accepts Lin En’s challenge, only for Lin En to withdraw it and dismiss him as too weak. Tang San responds by vowing to defeat him fairly in their next encounter 59.

When Sword and Bone Douluo arrive to seek redress for Ning Rongrong, she identifies Tang San as one of the people who joined in ostracizing her. Sword Douluo therefore refuses Tang Hao’s request to take him away unhindered 65.

The confrontation exposes Xiao Wu as a hundred-thousand-year transformed soul beast. Tang Hao openly reveals that he had reserved her soul ring and soul bone for Tang San. Xiao Wu consequently rejects Tang San’s attempts to comfort her and accuses him of deception; he insists that he does not understand her accusation 65.

Tang Hao escapes with Tang San after losing an arm to Sword Douluo. Tang San reaches toward Xiao Wu as his father carries him away, leaving her behind 65.

Personality

Tang San is receptive to instruction and deeply loyal to Yu Xiaogang. Even when defeat raises doubts about his teacher’s advice, reassurance quickly restores his trust. He repeatedly credits Yu Xiaogang for his successful ring acquisitions and improved abilities 3 7 9 11.

He is competitive and remembers setbacks. His first defeat by Lin En motivates years of training, while his confidence increasingly rests on the concealed hammer martial soul. Following Tang Hao’s warning, he keeps that martial soul hidden until he has sufficient strength 10.

His composure is highly dependent on Xiao Wu’s safety. He can recognize manipulation and propose practical action when calm, but threats to her provoke reckless pursuit, murderous vows, and hostility toward companions who speak carelessly about her 8 51 53 57 58.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and a hammer martial soul, making him the third recorded twin-martial-soul possessor according to Yu Xiaogang 2 10.

  • Blue Silver Grass: Receives all three soul rings documented in his progression 7 11 53.
  • Hammer martial soul: Kept secret on Tang Hao’s orders; Tang San regards it as his greater source of future strength 10.
  • Cultivation concern: Tang Hao seeks Bibi Dong’s successful twin-martial-soul cultivation method through Yu Xiaogang 7.

Blue Silver Entanglement

His first soul skill releases numerous strands of Blue Silver Grass that spread outward and coil around a target 7 8.

  • The Mandala Snake ring adds a poisonous scent and paralyzing toxin 7 8.
  • Its restraint is ineffective against Sageross, whose blades sever the grass before it can secure him 8 9.
  • The second ring later improves the grass’s toughness and adds green, bamboo-like surface patterns 11.

Blue Silver Pole Vault

His second soul skill transforms Blue Silver Grass into bamboo poles that bend and propel him through the air 11 53.

  • Its initial demonstration carries him more than ten meters 11.
  • Repeated vaulting is faster than running on the ground 53.
  • It remains too slow to catch the fleeing Titan Giant Ape 53.

Lone Bamboo Pole Vault

His third soul skill produces an enormous Lone Bamboo that launches him into the distance like a slingshot 53.

  • Activates with dazzling purple light 53.
  • Acquired specifically to improve his pursuit of the Titan Giant Ape 53.
  • Obtaining it also causes eight large, tapering bamboo shoots to grow from his back; their function is not established in the supplied account 53.

Mysterious Heaven Skill

Tang San uses Mysterious Heaven Skill as his cultivation art 8 12.

  • He intends to consolidate it after returning from his first soul hunt 8.
  • Lin En credits it with helping him approach rank thirty despite substantial time spent on forging and hidden weapons 12.

Tang Sect Techniques

Tang San supplements his martial soul with movement, force-redirection, and hidden-weapon techniques 9 51.

  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: Creates elusive, phantom-like movement. Initially confuses Sageross, but fails to evade its adjusted charge 9.
  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon: Redirects most of the force of Sageross’s charge, though the remaining impact still injures him 9.
  • Mysterious Jade Hand: Provides hand protection; striking a tree without it leaves his hand bloodied 57.
  • Hidden weapons: Can launch weapons in rapid succession, but they fail to penetrate the Titan Giant Ape’s defenses 51.

Forging and Craftsmanship

Tang San spends considerable time making hidden weapons and forging iron for money during his Nuoding Academy years 12.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Throwing dagger — Used to kill the gravely wounded Mandala Snake by piercing its mouth 7.
  • Tang Sect hidden weapons — Crafted during his academy years and deployed against the Titan Giant Ape 12 51.

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father and secret protector. Directs him to conceal his hammer, arranges his first ring opportunity, and ultimately carries him away from Shrek’s confrontation with Sword and Bone Douluo 7 10 65.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Teacher. Tang San trusts his cultivation plans, while Yu Xiaogang privately sees his talent as a means to vindicate his theories and gain recognition 2 3 10 11.
  • Xiao Wu — Former Nuoding dormmate whom he calls his little sister and most important family member. Their bond fractures when Tang Hao’s intentions toward her are exposed 8 57 65.
  • Lin En — Neighboring-village acquaintance, former dormmate, and rival. Their early spar ends in Tang San’s defeat; later encounters deepen their hostility 3 9 10 49 59.
  • Dai Mubai — Shrek teammate. Tang San initially objects to Lin En attacking Shrek over Dai Mubai’s remarks, but later threatens Dai Mubai for joking about replacing Xiao Wu 49 57.
  • Ning Rongrong — Shrek teammate who accuses him of joining the others in ostracizing her. Her testimony prevents Tang Hao from negotiating his uncontested release 65.
  • Zhao Wuji — Shrek teacher accompanying the forest expedition. Separates Tang San and Dai Mubai during their argument over Xiao Wu 48 57.
