Douluo Continent, Nuoding City.
"Phew, after a month of traveling, I finally made it to Nuoding City."
At the city gates, a child with a slightly roguish look, holding a stick with beef jerky tied to it, looked at Nuoding City before him and let out a heavy sigh of relief.
The little boy's name was Yun Tian. A large truck had sent him to Douluo Continent six years ago. He had only awakened his Martial Soul a month earlier, and his Martial Soul was...
"Sang Biao, thanks for all the hard work. You've been walking for a month. Here, eat."
As Yun Tian spoke, the big black-and-white dog beneath him, with two ears standing tall and a hint of wisdom in his eyes, barked twice.
Then he bit into the beef jerky Yun Tian held up to his mouth.
Yun Tian patted the big dog's head and fastened a leash to him. Only then did he feel safe enough to get off his back.
Yes, this big dog was Yun Tian's Martial Soul, a body-detached Martial Soul exactly like Yu Xiaogang's. He was also the Siberian Husky Yun Tian had raised in his previous life, the one particularly fond of wrecking the house and wolfing down shit.
Commonly known as Erha.
His Erha was something else. When other Soul Masters summoned their Martial Souls, they slowly consumed Soul Power. Though that consumption was negligible, it was still consumption.
His Erha, however, consumed no Soul Power at all. In theory, he could remain outside forever.
Just then, several beautiful women walked past them. Sang Biao, who had been enjoying his beef jerky, immediately raised his head and began following in the direction those women had gone.
Noticing something was amiss, Yun Tian sharply pulled back on the leash.
"Sang Biao, behave. Last time you scared that pretty lady, I had to pay ten Copper Soul Coins in compensation. If you scare someone again, I won't have any money left to pay them."
It was strange, really. Wrecking the house and eating shit were one thing, but Yun Tian's Erha actually liked big breasts and long legs, too.
He really was the complete opposite of his owner's noble soul!
"Ah, I wonder what kind of Soul Skill you'll get after absorbing a Soul Ring, Sang Biao. Please don't let it be anything like Yu Xiaogang's."
As a veteran Douluo fan, Yun Tian could not have been more familiar with Douluo Continent.
Sometimes, Yun Tian found it absurd, too. His Martial Soul was Erha—oh, right, there was also a rusty, battered spear that did not count as a Martial Soul, but was, in layman's terms, a companion weapon—and somehow, he had innate full Soul Power.
With a setup like that, having any Soul Power at all would have been the luckiest of lucky breaks. Yet not only did he have it, he had innate full Soul Power.
"Ah, forget it, forget it. I'll go to Nuoding Academy first and see whether any Soul Masters have awakened a dog-type Martial Soul. If there are any, I can use the way they absorbed their Soul Rings as a reference."
With any other Martial Soul, Yun Tian would never have thought choosing a suitable Soul Beast was such a difficult decision. But with this Erha alone,
he genuinely had no idea where to start.
The moment that thought ended, Yun Tian swung himself back onto Sang Biao.
After entering the city, Yun Tian kept a death grip on Sang Biao with both hands. He had no choice. There were simply too many beautiful sights in the city, and people on Douluo Continent developed early. Some were also very uninhibited.
Some even left his noble-souled owner struggling to control himself.
After traveling for quite a while, Yun Tian finally arrived at Nuoding Academy's gates on Sang Biao's back.
Whoa, isn't this that famous scene?
That was what Yun Tian thought as he watched the scene at Nuoding Academy's gates.
Before him, an old man and a little boy were being given a hard time by the gatekeeper, while one of the little boy's hands had already slipped quietly into his sleeve.
Gangzi should be making his entrance soon.
Yun Tian looked this way and that. He was very interested in this formidable fellow who had managed to insult himself twice in a single sentence.
Of course, he only intended to watch for amusement. Everyone had an electronic pet, after all. As for getting him to regard Yu Xiaogang seriously, that was impossible.
Sure enough, as Yun Tian scanned his surroundings, a signature Flat-top suddenly entered his view.
There was a man whose whole body radiated an "aura of kingly dominance,"
with a full beard, wearing black academic robes washed pale, his hands clasped behind his back,
a middle-aged man with an enigmatic smile on his face, walking toward Nuoding Academy's gates.
Just then, the nose of Sang Biao beneath Yun Tian suddenly twitched. Immediately afterward, a whimper escaped his mouth.
Yun Tian stroked Sang Biao, then looked at Yu Xiaogang.
As everyone knew, a dog's nose was far more sensitive than a human's.
And Yu Xiaogang's Martial Soul, Luo Sanpao, was a pig that could do nothing but fart. Every time Yu Xiaogang used a Soul Skill, some of that smell inevitably clung to him.
In common parlance, he had been marinated right through.
So it was hardly strange that Sang Biao whimpered after catching the smell on Yu Xiaogang.
Next, Yun Tian immersed himself in watching Gangzi show off in front of Tang San.
In short, by the end, Tang San had been thoroughly taken in. He had all but given himself to Yu Xiaogang.
Yun Tian had no intention of antagonizing the master-disciple pair of Yu Xiaogang and Tang San. At least, he could not do so now.
Though Gangzi was useless, he was still a Soul Grandmaster. Yun Tian had no cheat, and his Martial Soul was an Erha whose capabilities were unknown. Provoking a Soul Grandmaster at a time like this would simply be an unwise choice.
Besides, he knew Tang San's character better than Tang San's own father did: dark, selfish, and twisted in his values.
If he really provoked them, Tang San might well fire a silent sleeve dart at him one day.
And lurking in the shadows was Tang Hao, that rat from a dark sewer. He would not care whether Yun Tian was a child.
Yun Tian approached the gatekeeper and handed over his certificate. The gatekeeper had already been taught a lesson by Yu Xiaogang, and Yu Xiaogang had not gone far yet, so he did not deliberately make things difficult for Yun Tian.
After entering the academy, Yun Tian continued riding Sang Biao toward the new student registration office.
Along the way, several female students saw the unusual big dog that was Sang Biao, plucked up their courage, and came over to give him a good petting.
There were no Erha on Douluo Continent, so in these female students' eyes, Sang Biao was a top-quality pet: big, with soft, sleek fur, the kind anyone would want to pet.
This proved a windfall for Yun Tian. He had been worrying about money, but after discovering Sang Biao's ability to attract people,
he simply set up a stall: three Copper Soul Coins for one minute of petting, or one Silver Soul Coin to climb on and ride him around once.
Sang Biao had absolutely no objection to this.
Sang Biao: Woof, woof, woof! Woof, woof, woof, woof! Woof, woof, woof, woooof!
Only after earning enough Soul Coins did Yun Tian ride Sang Biao to the new student registration office.
As luck would have it, he ran straight into Tang San coming out.
The instant Tang San saw Sang Biao, he felt all the blood in his body reverse its flow. His body stiffened, and cold sweat poured off him.
As everyone knew, dogs could generally pinpoint the person most afraid of them in a crowd of humans.
And so, Sang Biao's eyes locked directly onto Tang San. The next moment, Sang Biao raised his tail high, and a trace of almost human mockery actually showed in those wisdom-filled eyes.
The next moment, Sang Biao suddenly opened his mouth and ran toward Tang San, barking loudly.
"Woof, woof, woof!"
"Sang Biao, what are you doing?!"
Seeing the direction Sang Biao was charging in, Yun Tian immediately grew tense.
He had been planning to steer clear of Tang San in these early days, but Sang Biao had gone and charged straight at him as though he intended to bite him to death.
At the sight before him, Tang San's mind instantly went blank. Almost through muscle memory, he activated Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track.
In an instant, those little short legs seemed to turn into wind-and-fire wheels as Tang San ran.
