Background and History

Previous Life and Shrek Academy

Tang San retains the memories and secret arts of his previous life in the Bashu Tang Sect. He had been an Outer Sect disciple who manufactured mechanical hidden weapons from ordinary iron, and later recalls using concealment methods to steal the sect’s secret arts. In his second life, he regards these memories, Mysterious Heaven Skill, and his hidden-weapon knowledge as the foundation of his future supremacy 53 143 140.

At Shrek Academy, Tang San initially responds to the Sky Screen with indignation and confidence. He condemns the treatment of Ning Rongrong, envies Qian Renxue’s opportunities, and believes that superior materials would allow his hidden weapons to threaten even gods. Although he recognizes that the Great Thousand World’s energy may fundamentally surpass Soul Power, his reverence for Yu Xiaogang initially leads him to suppress those doubts 9 15 22.

The Sky Screen and His Family

Ah Yin’s appearance on the Sky Screen causes Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass to manifest involuntarily, accompanied by joy and bloodline resonance. At the time, he does not know that the Blue Silver Emperor is his mother and attributes the feeling to their shared origin 23.

Tang Hao later reunites with him at Shrek Academy and identifies his second Martial Soul as the Clear Sky Hammer. He also reveals their connection to the Clear Sky Sect and names Tang Chen as Tang San’s great-grandfather. Their hopes that Tang Chen will restore the sect collapse when he becomes a demonic creature in the Ancient Heavenly Palace. Tang San nevertheless remains analytical enough to question the inconsistencies surrounding the battlefield and its supposed seal 47 49 50.

Ambition and Repeated Disillusionment

Witnessing Su Changqing’s abilities gradually changes Tang San’s goal from proving the superiority of Tang Sect arts to obtaining higher-world cultivation methods. He becomes willing to accept discipleship or even menial service to learn Su Changqing’s power. At other moments, however, he returns to believing that his intelligence, hidden weapons, and manipulation can overcome the difference between worlds 54 56 60 110.

At the Clear Sky Sect, he invokes his direct bloodline and Twin Martial Souls to demand access to ancestral medicines and Hundred Thousand Year Soul Bones. He argues that strengthening his body before selection will help him convert Soul Power and eventually bring higher cultivation methods back to the sect. Subsequent broadcasts repeatedly undermine this confidence, including Tai Tan’s humiliation and the revelation of farming tools resembling superior Clear Sky Hammers 114 121 128 129.

Arrival and Enslavement

The Sky Screen forcibly selects Tang San at the Clear Sky Sect’s ancestral grounds. Despite his fear, he convinces himself that concealment and stolen cultivation manuals will let him survive and eventually avenge his humiliation 140.

In the Great Thousand World, his attempted hidden-weapon ambush fails catastrophically. A servant dismisses his attacks with a casual slap, breaking his defenses and severely injuring him. Li Family guards subsequently seal his remaining Soul Power and enslave him in a Black Iron Spirit Stone Mine 142 143.

Tang San initially plans to escape by rebuilding mechanical weapons from discarded ore. After witnessing an overseer massacre more than a hundred slaves, he instead begs for mercy and blames the revolt on others. He later accepts a dog chain and barks while promising loyalty, but secretly continues studying Spiritual Energy circulation with Purple Demon Eye 143 144.

Failed Attempts to Gain Patronage

Tang San enters the Great Desolation Divine Realm’s talent assessment expecting his Innate Full Soul Power and Twin Martial Souls to earn him exceptional treatment. The Spirit-Testing Pillar instead identifies congenital meridian sclerosis and a parasitic waste body. He is expelled and left in a ditch outside Tianluo City 144 145.

After more than half a year of wandering, he reaches a city associated with the Endless Fire Domain. His claims of mastery over poison and hidden weapons bring further humiliation: Elder Liu explains why his mortal poisons cannot threaten Spiritual Energy cultivators, while an apprentice’s cheap defensive robe defeats his weapons 146 147.

Oscar, now prosperous, fails to recognize the emaciated Tang San and gives him leftover restorative broth. After recovering, Tang San tries to present Xiao Xiao with adapted hidden-weapon blueprints, hoping to bypass ordinary assessments and enter the Endless Fire Domain’s inner circle. He also reunites with the destitute Yu Xiaogang 147 148.

Betrayal and Demonization

Tang San lies to Yu Xiaogang that the Great Desolation Divine Lord and Flame Emperor competed to recruit him, and that his beggar’s life is voluntary spiritual tempering. Yu Xiaogang believes him, briefly restoring Tang San’s wounded sense of superiority 149.

When the pair face punishment at the Zhao Family residence, Tang San stabs his teacher and claims that Yu Xiaogang poisoned and coerced him. Yu Xiaogang dies, but the betrayal does not save Tang San: the guards throw him and his teacher’s corpse into a snake pit 150.

There, a Blood Demon General offers him the Spirit-Devouring Blood Demon Art. Tang San accepts the required soul sacrifice and blood oath in exchange for power and revenge. His Martial Souls become demonic, and he drains the pit’s snakes before returning to massacre the Zhao household 150 151.

Possession and Death

Tang San combines demonic cultivation with Tang Sect ambush methods, killing and consuming members of the Mad Lion Sect’s pursuit force. After reaching First Grade Sovereign, he discovers that his power no longer obeys him 151 152.

The Blood Demon General reveals that the cultivation art was designed to raise “blood livestock.” Tang San’s Twin Martial Souls served as a crucible that filtered the stolen power until the demon had enough nourishment to revive. Unable to detonate his Martial Souls or injure the invader with Purple Demon Eye, Tang San loses the struggle. His soul is completely erased, leaving no chance of reincarnation 152 153.

Posthumous Use of His Appearance

The possessing fiend continues to appear under Tang San’s name, but the narrative explicitly distinguishes it from the dead original. Its surviving true spirit remains imprinted with Tang San’s appearance, causing even newly formed flesh to reproduce his face 168 170.

After serving the Heavenly Evil God and slaughtering nine Lower Planes, the fiend returns to Douluo Continent. Defeated by Xiao Lin and Lin Jing, it attempts to destroy the continent using blood pills hidden within the plane’s essence. Su Changqing intervenes and erases both its body and the Heavenly Demon Emperor’s remnant soul 171 181 183 184.

Appearance

  • Before demonization: Black hair and an ordinary face; wears blue robes and carries Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges at his waist 34 53 145.
  • During his destitution: Becomes extremely thin, with tangled hair, a grime-covered face, and tattered clothing. Oscar does not recognize him in this condition 147.
  • After the demonic pact: Develops sharp black nails, scarlet slit pupils, uneven fangs, and blue-black scales. His reconstructed right leg becomes thick and twisted 150.
  • Distinguishing manifestation: Dark-red, blood-draining vines emerge from his back after his Blue Silver Emperor is demonized 150.

Personality

Tang San’s confidence rests heavily on having lived two lives, possessing Twin Martial Souls, and inheriting Tang Sect knowledge. He repeatedly interprets other people’s success as luck or undeserved patronage, particularly when comparing himself with Qian Renxue, Sword Douluo, and Oscar. Even after severe defeats, he reconstructs a belief that a new technique, assessment, or powerful connection will establish his superiority 15 39 144 145.

He can remain observant under emotional pressure, as shown by his investigation of Tang Chen’s corruption, and initially expresses fierce protectiveness toward Xiao Wu. His later conduct becomes increasingly self-serving: he fantasizes about manipulating powerful women, lies to preserve his status before Yu Xiaogang, betrays fellow slaves, and ultimately murders his teacher to seek mercy. After embracing demonic cultivation, he treats human lives as nourishment without guilt 29 49 50 110 143 149 150 151.

Abilities and Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses the Blue Silver Emperor and Clear Sky Hammer, whose contrasting powers he presents as proof of exceptional inheritance 114 144.

  • Blue Silver Grass / Blue Silver Emperor: Responds instinctively to Ah Yin through bloodline resonance 23.
  • Clear Sky Hammer: Identified by Tang Hao as the Douluo Continent’s foremost tool Martial Soul 47.
  • Demonic evolution: The Blue Silver Emperor becomes a flesh-draining Demon Vine; the hammer becomes the Blood-Drinking Demon Hammer, capable of consuming blood energy 150 151.
  • Limit: Both Martial Souls eventually fall under the Blood Demon General’s control, preventing Tang San from detonating them during possession 152.

Mysterious Heaven Skill

His principal internal-energy cultivation method becomes the basis for his attempts to adapt to the Great Thousand World 53 144.

  • Guides his first conversion of residual Soul Power into Spiritual Energy 144.
  • Requires painful experimentation with spirit-stone fragments and observed circulation routes 144.
  • Does not overcome his assessed meridian condition or initially bring him into the Spirit Movement Realm 144 145.

Tang Sect Hidden Weapons and Poisons

Tang San designs, manufactures, conceals, and deploys mechanical weapons using knowledge from his previous life 34 143.

  • Dragon Whisker Needles can force even Zhao Wuji, a Soul Saint, to scramble during academy sparring 143.
  • Uses Soul Power to suppress the sounds of mechanisms engaging during an ambush 142.
  • Ordinary weapons fail against higher-world protective Spiritual Energy and even an apprentice’s inexpensive defensive robe 144 147.
  • Mortal poisons lack the destructive laws necessary to threaten the tempered bodies of Spiritual Energy cultivators 147.
  • After demonization, incorporates corrosive Demonic Energy into bone needles and Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needle traps, allowing them to pierce a Heaven Fusion Realm elder’s shield 151 152.

Purple Demon Eye

An ocular technique used for focused observation and combat perception 142 144.

  • Secretly studies a steward’s meridian circulation to learn Spiritual Energy cultivation 144.
  • After demonization, perceives a late Spirit Movement Realm opponent’s sword attack as extremely slow 151.
  • Fails to damage the Blood Demon General during the struggle for his soul 152.

Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track

A movement technique that leaves an afterimage when Tang San rushes through the guards to address Xiao Xiao 148.

Spirit-Devouring Blood Demon Art

A demonic method obtained through his pact with the Blood Demon General 150.

  • Drains essence blood, vitality, and cultivation through his transformed Martial Souls 150 151.
  • Enables rapid advancement through mass killing rather than conventional cultivation 151 152.
  • Conceals a fatal purpose: the accumulated power nourishes the Blood Demon General’s revival, leaving Tang San as its disposable vessel 152.

Equipment and Items

  • Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — Storage Soul Tool containing mechanical hidden weapons and poisons gathered from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 34 60.
  • Mechanical hidden weapons — Includes the Godly Zhuge Crossbow, Flying God Claw, Silent Sleeve Arrow, and Back-Mounted Flower Crossbow 60 142.
  • Dragon Whisker Needles — Fine dark-gold needles designed to penetrate protective energy and curl inside a target’s flesh and meridians 142.
  • Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus — A prized hidden weapon that he cites among his principal advantages before entering the Great Thousand World 110 121.
  • Eight Spider Lances — Venomous external soul bone deployed as his strongest defensive trump card against the servant’s retaliatory slap; it fails to save him from severe injury 142 143.
  • Adapted blueprints — Great Thousand World versions of Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus and Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles, offered to Xiao Xiao as supposedly revolutionary weapons 148.

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father. Conceals their sect origins to protect him, then reveals the Clear Sky Hammer’s identity and their connection to Tang Chen 47.
  • Ah Yin — Mother and Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor. Tang San initially senses their bond without understanding it; later recognizes her as his mother when she is endangered on the broadcast 23 115.
  • Tang Chen — Great-grandfather. His selection briefly inspires hopes of a Clear Sky Sect revival before his corruption and death 47 49 53.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Teacher whom Tang San initially reveres almost unquestioningly. Tang San later deceives, murders, and falsely accuses him in an unsuccessful attempt to escape punishment 22 100 149 150.
  • Xiao Wu — Close companion whom he embraces and promises to protect even against Heavenly Sovereigns 29.
  • Oscar — Fellow Shrek Seven Devil. Tang San increasingly resents his success; Oscar unknowingly gives the destitute Tang San restorative leftovers 96 145 147 148.
  • Ning Fengzhi — Former major financial backer and supporter. His submission to Mu Chen further damages Tang San’s confidence 126.
  • Tai Tan — Loyal elder and servant whom Tang San hopes will secure powerful backing in the Great Desolation Divine Realm 128.
  • Su Changqing — Desired master and source of coveted higher-world techniques. Tang San’s admiration later becomes resentment; Su Changqing ultimately destroys the fiend using his appearance 54 56 60 145 184.
  • Blood Demon General — Offers the pact that demonizes him, secretly uses him to accumulate nourishment, and ultimately erases his soul to seize his body 150 152 153.
