Background / History
Tang Hao lived in Holy Spirit Village as a taciturn, frequently drunken blacksmith. Before his sons awakened their Martial Souls, Tang San and Tang Chuan were forced to find food, fetch water, chop firewood, and cook for him. Tang Hao reacted violently to perceived mistakes, including slapping Tang Chuan over salty food and throwing him outside after he burned porridge. 19
After Tang San awakened Innate Full Soul Power and Twin Martial Souls, Tang Hao began treating him warmly and taught him forging. He continued to dismiss Tang Chuan's Level One Blue Silver Grass, initially insisting that Tang Chuan remain in the village as an ordinary blacksmith rather than attend a Soul Master Academy. 19 21
Tang Hao is the father of Tang San and Tang Chuan, and Ah Yin's former partner. Ah Yin was a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Soul Beast whose self-sacrifice saved their family after Martial Soul Hall targeted her. Her death became Tang Hao's central grievance against Martial Soul Hall. 7 140
Though he withdrew from his former status and called himself “an ordinary blacksmith,” Tang Hao remained watchful over Tang San. He entrusted Tang San to Yu Xiaogang, gave Master a six-patterned Pope's Edict, and later took violent measures against those who had discovered Tang San's connection to him. 21 65 82
Appearance
Tang Hao is a tall, heavily built man whose weathered, rugged appearance contrasts with the oppressive presence of a veteran Titled Douluo. 7 21 65
- Usually wears a tattered gray or black robe. 7 65
- Has an unkempt beard and deep, cold eyes. 65
- His face is described as rugged, resolute, and marked by exhaustion. 21
- Carries the massive Clear Sky Hammer. 131
Personality
Tang Hao is intensely protective of Tang San and repeatedly intervenes when he believes his younger son is threatened. He follows Tang San in secret, destroys threats tied to Martial Soul Hall's investigation, saves him in battle, and prioritizes his escape even after Tang San's actions horrify him. 65 200 227 270
His paternal care is deeply unequal. Tang Chuan remembers Tang Hao as neglectful and abusive before the boys' awakenings, then openly preferential toward Tang San once Tang San's Twin Martial Souls were revealed. Tang Hao views Tang San as the child who can fulfill his revenge against Martial Soul Hall, a grievance Tang Chuan confronts him with directly. 19 185
Tang Hao is proud, forceful, and quick to answer perceived threats with overwhelming violence. He nevertheless shows remorse: he is ashamed to face Ah Yin, acknowledges that he and the Clear Sky Sect wronged the Four Single-Attribute Families, and later returns to the Clear Sky Sect to help restore it. 7 136 295 301
