Background / History

Yun Ming belonged to the same generation as Qian Gu Fenfeng and led a Shrek Seven Devils team that included Zang Xin and Cao Dezhi. Shrek sent the team to challenge the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineering Academy after several female Shrek students joined Qian Gu Fenfeng’s side. Qian Gu Fenfeng defeated all seven in consecutive bouts, establishing a rivalry that continued into Yun Ming’s tenure as Pavilion Master 2.

Yun Ming married Ya Li without knowing that Qian Gu Fenfeng had assigned her to do so. He trusted her affection and defended her against accusations of disloyalty, although she withheld physical intimacy and secretly served his rival. Yun Ming later recalled revealing the precise location of the Tang Sect’s Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to Qian Gu Fenfeng for her sake 2 14 45.

Personality

As Pavilion Master, Yun Ming is cautious about committing Shrek to open war. He initially restrains Long Yeyue and avoids intervening in federal purges because doing so would expose Shrek to a combined assault. Nevertheless, Long Yeyue’s imprisonment prompts him to threaten war and personally challenge Qian Gu Fenfeng 2 10 11 13.

His attachment to Ya Li makes him trusting and emotionally vulnerable. He dismisses accusations against her, boasts of their marriage, and is devastated when she openly prioritizes Qian Gu Fenfeng’s recovery over his own. During his final confinement, jealousy and resentment dominate his thoughts 2 20 37 45.

His opposition to the Spirit Pagoda is also strategic rather than purely humanitarian. During the Star Dou crisis, preventing the Spirit Pagoda from acquiring powerful Soul Beasts matters more to him than rescuing them. He later accepts an alliance with Qian Gu Fenfeng over the Sea God’s inheritance while privately intending to betray him 33 35.

Heavenly Spear

• Produces overlapping real and illusory spear shadows, concealing the true attack among numerous images 14.

Relationships

• Ya Li / Yali — His wife. Yun Ming believes in her devotion, but she secretly serves Qian Gu Fenfeng and supplies him with Tang Sect defense information. Her open concern for Qian Gu Fenfeng exposes the gulf between Yun Ming’s expectations and her actual loyalties 2 20 37.
• Qian Gu Fenfeng — Same-generation rival who defeats him both in youth and as Pavilion Master. Their temporary alliance against Tang Wulin ends with Qian Gu Fenfeng placing Yun Ming in the path of a divine attack 2 14 35.
• Long Yeyue — Sea God Pavilion deputy master and senior colleague. Yun Ming repeatedly tries to restrain her confrontations with the Qiangu Family, then fights to secure her release after she is imprisoned 2 10 13 14.
• Qian Chenyue — Opponent who prevents him from intervening in Star Dou Great Forest. Her damage-sharing ability forces a stalemate and leaves him with persistent injuries 33 34 35.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Shrek’s Response to Federal Consolidation

Following Qian Gu Fenfeng’s election, Yun Ming stops Long Yeyue from immediately confronting the Spirit Pagoda. He accepts Ya Li’s proposal to increase Tang Sect strategic-weapons support to other continents and defends her when an elder accuses her of having an affair with Qian Gu Fenfeng 2.

The destruction of the Sea God Family and subsequent purges leave Shrek increasingly isolated. Yun Ming allows Long Yeyue to seek an explanation, believing Qian Gu Fenfeng will not yet openly break with Shrek. As allied clans and sects are destroyed, he and the Pavilion elders refrain from intervention to avoid giving the Federation grounds for an attack 10 11.

Duel for Long Yeyue’s Release

Finding Long Yeyue injured and caged, Yun Ming demands her release and threatens war. Negotiations turn to Shrek’s taxation: Qian Gu Fenfeng demands sixty percent, then raises it to seventy percent after Yun Ming counteroffers forty percent 13.

Yun Ming challenges him to a duel, but Qian Gu Fenfeng bypasses the Air-Banishing Domain, damages his Battle Armor, and shatters the Heavenly Spear. After conceding, Yun Ming accepts even a ninety-percent tax in an appeal to preserve Shrek’s remaining dignity. He returns to the academy with Long Yeyue 14.

Failed Defense of the Tang Sect

Yun Ming confronts Qian Gu Fenfeng over the classification of the Tang Sect as a treasonous organization. He leaves without obtaining a withdrawal of the arrest order. Federal mecha forces subsequently destroy Tang Sect branches across the continent 20.

Star Dou Great Forest Intervention

Yun Ming rushes alone to prevent the Spirit Pagoda’s capture of high-ranking Soul Beasts. Qian Chenyue intercepts him, using Causal Balance Transfer to share the damage from his attacks. Their battle becomes a stalemate, and he withdraws without reaching the forest’s core after the captures are completed 33 34.

Tang Wulin Ambush and Prolonged Incapacitation

Qian Gu Fenfeng persuades Yun Ming to investigate a child said to possess the Sea God’s inheritance. They surround Tang Wulin in Aolai City, provoking Old Tang’s intervention. Qian Gu Fenfeng moves Yun Ming in front of himself, leaving Yun Ming to suffer the worse injuries from the Sea God Trident’s divine strike 35.

A golden leaf helps Yun Ming survive, but upon awakening he sees Ya Li rush to Qian Gu Fenfeng and call him “Daddy.” He faints and remains unconscious for months. During his brief return to awareness, news of the pro-Shrek faction’s destruction and Qian Gu Fenfeng’s impending godhood causes him to repeatedly cough up blood 37 39.

Final Days and Death

Yun Ming remains bedridden in the Golden Ancient Tree, unable to move despite being mentally active. Qian Gu Fenfeng visits with Ya Li, further aggravating his anguish over their relationship 45.

Yun Ming breathes his last before Eternal Heaven falls on Shrek City. The weapon subsequently breaks the Sea God Pavilion’s ancient barrier and devastates the city; he does not die resisting the explosion 45.
