Background / History

Academy Years and Rise to Office

Fenfeng belonged to the same generation as Yun Ming but studied at the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineering Academy. His youthful cultivation advanced rapidly, and his victories over Shrek culminated in defeating all seven members of the Shrek Seven Devils—including Yun Ming, Zang Xin, and Cao Dezhi—in consecutive bouts 2.

During his studies, he cultivated his Soul Master abilities, researched Soul Guidance Technology, refined Battle Armor, and mastered the Coiling Dragon Staff. He encountered Leng Yaozhu through competition and rescued Qian Chenyue when she was isolated and rejected by others 36.

After graduation, he became master of the Spirit Pagoda in Mingdu and established the Fen Faction. Leng Yaozhu, Leng Yulai, Qian Chenyue, and other followers promoted its hawkish politics and hostility toward the nations of the original Douluo Continent 2.

He won election as Federation Council Chair with 81 of 108 votes. His campaign promised internal consolidation, preparations against the Abyss Plane, and territorial expansion, including conquering Dou Ling within six months and Star Dou within two years. His father and brothers subsequently pledged their support 1 3.

Consolidation of the Federation

Fenfeng’s first priority was eliminating divided authority within the Federation. He cultivated military support through Western Legion commander Dong Zi’an, whose advancement to the Limit rank had benefited from the Qiangu Family’s assistance 3 4.

He defeated and killed Chen Xinjie, then accused him of treason and secured the legion commanders’ agreement to abolish the Sea God Family. Regional legion deployments and private troops passed to central military command, while major clans lost the right to maintain large independent forces 6 7.

The destruction of the Sea God Family was followed by action against associated families and political dissenters. Fenfeng ordered executions and interrogations, while the Spirit Pagoda occupied abandoned coastal defenses. His public declarations presented the purge as a lawful campaign against rebellion 10 12.

Long Yeyue’s attempt to confront him ended in her confinement inside a sealed cage. When Yun Ming demanded her release, Fenfeng defended the detention as legal, threatened Shrek with war, and raised his proposed tax on the academy from sixty to seventy percent after Yun Ming tried to negotiate 12 13.

Reforms and the Benevolent Father Cult

After the Calm the Waves Plan, Fenfeng combined government reform, welfare spending, education, and Spirit Pagoda expansion to entrench his rule 15.

Area Measures
Government and education Restructured local institutions and placed the Education Bureau under Qiangu Family control. Introduced eight years of compulsory education, political instruction, revised history textbooks, and promotion of his governing principles 15.
Taxation and welfare Heavily taxed medium and large powers. Revenue supported both the Qiangu Family’s private coffers and public subsidies, social security, and welfare benefits 14 15.
Soul Master recruitment Provided free Martial Soul Awakening. Spirit Pagoda recruits received their first Soul Spirit free and subsequent Soul Spirits at half price; nonmembers faced doubled prices and restrictions on rare Soul Spirits 15.
Security Incorporated Spirit Pagoda security into the federal Soul Police. The Guard Squad nominally served federal functions, while the Guard Army answered only to the Qiangu Family 15.
Commerce Expanded the Spirit Pagoda Group into transportation, communications, appliances, clothing, and other necessities 15.
Public ideology Promoted his own political thought while reducing Tang San’s influence. Supporters circulated books, broadcasts, and praise of his leadership 12 15.

Fifty years later, citizens revered him as the Benevolent Father, treating his personal name as something not to be spoken directly. Statues appeared throughout the Federation, including a colossal monument in Federal Parliament Square. This public image obscured the destruction of noble families beneath his rise 16.

Star Luo Conquest and the Tang Sect

Fenfeng secretly partnered with the Demon Empress to unleash the Blood River Array on the Star Luo Continent, also called Star Dou in the supplied passages. He then exploited the resulting catastrophe as an opportunity for federal conquest, publicly presenting himself as the refugees’ rescuer 17 19 21 22.

During the same campaign, he refused Yun Ming’s demand to withdraw the order against the Tang Sect. Federation mecha formations subsequently destroyed Tang Sect branches, archives, and hidden-weapon workshops across the continent 20.

The alliance with the Demon Empress ended in battle. Fenfeng did not stop her from sacrificing the Imperial City, then awakened Break Through to Divinity, shattered her divine origin and Demon Core, and killed her. He secured his own godhood despite the plane’s rejection 23 24.

When local guerrillas resisted federal occupation, he ordered a naval blockade, the deployment of two fixed-charge Soul Cannons, and the Ghost Emperor and Holy Spirit Cult remnants to kill the native population. Surviving inhabitants were later confined in concentration camps while federal mining operations stripped the land of resources 24 27.

Soul Beast Hunt and Near-Death Experiences

Fenfeng next planned to capture the entire Soul Beast Clan. His elite force ambushed Xiong Jun, broke his claws, and wounded him before Di Tian and the other Ferocious Beasts intervened 27 29.

He initially countered Gu Yuena and Di Tian with the Unyielding Staff Technique, gravely injuring Di Tian when the dragon intercepted a strike meant for Gu Yuena. The balance changed when the Dragon God’s Heart supplied Gu Yuena with God King Origin. Her attacks overwhelmed Fenfeng’s techniques, shattered his body and Godhood Foundation, and left him near death 31 32.

Still recovering, he persuaded Yun Ming to help investigate a child supposedly carrying the Sea God’s inheritance. Their attack on Tang Wulin in Aolai City provoked Old Tang’s intervention, and both were gravely wounded by divine strikes 35.

Fenfeng’s damaged Divine Soul drifted into the Chaos Sea, where he reconsidered his pursuit of strength. Qian Chenyue and Leng Yaozhu sustained his body and soul, providing the bonds that drew his consciousness back. After recovering, he entrusted the Federation and family affairs to Qiangu Qingfeng and entered seclusion to create his own godhood 36 37 38.

Mechanical Ascension and the Abyss Campaign

Fenfeng rejected reliance on inherited divine lineages and forged a mechanical Divine Embryo from Soul Engineering, faith, and his own will. His emergence was followed by a God-Sealing Ceremony and renewed fighting against the Abyss Plane 38 41 44.

At the Abyss Passage, he reversed abyssal energy and killed five of the nine supreme emperors: Spirit Emperor, Blaze Emperor, Devil Emperor, Scythe Emperor, and Sage Emperor. He subsequently fought the Abyssal Sage King while also facing interference from Tang Hao and Ah Yin 42 43 44.

Working with Ling Zichen, he prepared the Boundary Rift Gate and the Apotheosis Plan. He ordered the Golden Ancient Tree’s extracted core integrated into twelve Demigod Positions, intending to use the Abyss Plane’s core to enable the Spirit Pagoda’s twelve Spirit Envoys to ascend 47.

He entered the Abyss Plane and defeated its ruler after his Martial Soul reached God Level. His newly comprehended Between Life and Death domain severed the Abyssal Sage King’s connection to the plane’s power, allowing Fenfeng to destroy him 48.

False Heaven and the Later Invasion

With Douluo approaching collapse, Fenfeng refined the Star Dou Continent’s land, inhabitants, resources, and remaining planar essence into the False Heaven. The artificial canopy sealed cracks in the Plane Barrier and restored some vitality to the world 50.

Before merging with the Plane Core, he left Qian Chenyue instructions to cross the Boundary Rift Gate and annihilate all life on the Heaven Dou Continent after attaining godhood. As soul power recovered, Federation citizens credited him with saving the world, strengthening their worship 50 51.

After his awakening, abyssal portals appeared throughout Federation cities. Fenfeng broadcast that the attackers served Tang San and claimed he was confronting that “evil god” in the cosmos 58 59.

Yi Zichen later entered the Abyss Plane and saw the Abyssal Sage King remove his bone mask, revealing Fenfeng beneath it. The disciple confronted his master over his responsibility for the invasion 61.

Appearance

Fenfeng’s documented appearance emphasizes restrained authority, formal clothing, and sharp eyes rather than detailed facial features 3 16.

  • Official attire: Wears Federation Council Chair robes and, later, a black robe embroidered with subtle coiling-dragon patterns 16 46.
  • Casual clothing: Changes into a simple black jacket for an evening in Mingdu, suppressing his Quasi-God pressure until he resembles an ordinary mature man 16.
  • Combat attire: Uses antique-gold Battle Armor; during the Soul Beast hunt, wears a close-fitting black outfit with the Coiling Dragon Staff across his back 22 28.
  • Manifested aura: A golden coiling-dragon phantom appears behind him, while Annihilation Dragon Breath can gather around his fingertips 12 13.
  • Abyssal identity: Conceals his face beneath a bone mask before revealing himself to Yi Zichen 61.

Personality

Fenfeng is calculating, forceful, and adept at presenting coercion as public service. He justifies executions and purges through federal law and national security, while cultivating the image of a ruler devoted to ordinary citizens. His willingness to massacre foreign populations sharply contrasts with his benevolent domestic reputation 7 12 17 24.

His political pragmatism extends to alliances and promises. He treats cooperation with the Holy Spirit Cult as borrowing one force to strike another, and tells Xiong Jun that a promise is merely a bargaining chip used to postpone hostilities. Yet he becomes irritated by the uncritical agreement of parliamentarians after removing his opponents 17 19 29.

In combat, he favors direct confrontation and refuses to yield even when seriously injured. His near-death experience tempers his youthful arrogance with greater composure, but does not end his ambition to place Douluo under Qiangu control 23 32 38 43.

He is openly affectionate toward Qian Chenyue and Leng Yaozhu, indulging their requests for time together. His belief in his own righteousness is also genuine enough to underpin his self-created divine path, regardless of the violence behind his achievements 16 37 38.

Abilities & Skills

Coiling Dragon Staff

His Martial Soul is an ancient, dragon-patterned staff wielded through powerful sweeps, thrusts, crushing blows, and close-range combinations 23 42 48.

  • Houses the Break Evil Dragon Soul Spirit and manifests a golden dragon phantom 16 23.
  • Breaks Xiong Jun’s claws in a direct clash 29.
  • Awakens its dragon soul and reaches God Level during the final battle with the previous Abyssal Sage King 48.

Unyielding Staff Technique

Fenfeng masters every form except the ninth before his initial divine breakthrough. Its principle is to break defenses and laws through unyielding confrontation rather than retreat 2 23.

Technique Documented effect or application
Crossing the Mountain Stops and shatters Chen Xinjie’s sea dragon 6.
Rending the Firmament / Suppressing the Wilderness Breaks through Chen Xinjie’s water attacks and barriers 6.
Unyielding World Suppression Shatters the Blue Sea Annihilation Seal and ultimately kills Chen Xinjie 6 7.
Break Through to Divinity Ninth form, also rendered as Break Through to Godhood; awakened against the Demon Empress 23 24.
Battle Heaven and Earth Manifests a giant coiling-dragon phantom against the Abyssal Sage King’s palm attack, though the attack overwhelms it 48.
Dragon Battles in the Wild Used alongside Break Through to Godhood during the final abyssal battle 48.

Five Breaks

His five self-created moves extend the Unyielding Staff Technique into counters against defenses, illusions, domains, attacks, and evasion 2.

Move Stated property
Formation Break 100% defense bypass 2.
Illusion Break 100% illusion bypass 2.
Dust Break 100% domain-rule bypass 2.
Tribulation Break 100% blocking of attacks through weapon parrying 2.
Limit Break 100% hit rate regardless of time or space 2.
  • Breaks Gu Yuena’s illusion cage, disrupts her domain rules, and deflects her combined assault with Di Tian 31.
  • Limit: These stated absolute properties do not overcome the Dragon God’s Heart’s God King Origin. Its superior power overwhelms even his strongest combined techniques 32.

Douzhan Saint Method

Developed over nearly fifty years by studying abyssal invasions and combining those observations with the staff’s unyielding, evil-breaking properties 16.

  • Suppresses abyssal energy through the Break Evil Dragon and channels it back to nourish Fenfeng and strengthen his Martial Soul 16.
  • Reverses the Abyss Tide’s energy flow and absorbs Blaze Emperor’s flames 42.
  • Allows him to recover and plunder energy amid battles against stronger divine opponents 43.
  • Its original theoretical goal—a God-Level Martial Soul—is realized during his later abyssal battle 16 48.

Divine Physique and Divine Soul

He possesses a god-level body before completing his first ascent, later gaining divine origin and Divine Origin Realm spiritual power 14 24.

  • Endures the Blood River Great Array and resists demonic corrosion despite sustaining wounds 22 23.
  • Maintains God-Level cultivation against the plane’s attempts to suppress him 24 31.
  • Limits: God King Origin devastates his body, soul, and divine foundation; Old Tang’s divine intervention also leaves him near death 32 35 36.

Soul Engineering and Self-Created Godhood

Fenfeng combines Soul Guidance principles, mechanical structures, personal will, and public faith rather than relying on an inherited divine lineage 38.

  • Constructs a mechanical Divine Embryo using his Divine Soul as a furnace and his will as its flame 38.
  • Fuses the embryo with the Break Evil Dragon’s origin through Dragon Source 38.
  • Designs the concept realized by Ling Zichen as the Boundary Rift Gate 47.
  • Creates twelve Demigod Positions linked to his Apotheosis Plan 47 48.

Between Life and Death

A domain comprehended during his battle in the Abyss Plane, capable of forming a world of its own 48.

  • Envelops the battlefield in absolute darkness 48.
  • Cuts the Abyssal Sage King off from the surrounding plane’s support 48.

Planar Refinement and False Heaven

His later power can refine land, life, resources, and planar essence into an artificial structure sustaining Douluo 50.

  • Repairs cracks in the Plane Barrier and excludes external deathly energy 50.
  • Preserves the Douluo Continent at the cost of the Star Dou Continent and its inhabitants 50.
  • Enables his union with the Plane Core, where he absorbs planar reserves during slumber 50.
