Background / History

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect

Ning Rongrong is Ning Fengzhi’s daughter and the sect’s pampered little princess. Her position brings expectations as well as privileges: the future sect master’s partner must be a Battle Soul Master belonging to neither the support nor food system. Ning Fengzhi considers Tang Mo a suitable prospective partner, while Gu Rong places greater importance on Rongrong’s own wishes 34.

Despite his interest in cultivating ties with Tang Mo, Ning Fengzhi explicitly refuses to use his daughter as a bargaining chip. He also acknowledges that Tang Mo’s gifts and instruction have left the sect indebted to him 72.

Meeting Tang Mo in Vast Sea City

Under Qian Renxue’s subtle influence, Rongrong insists on visiting Vast Sea City to see the sea. Ning Fengzhi sends Gu Rong to protect her. Once there, her curiosity about Spirit Hall’s cordoned-off reef gives Qian Renxue—disguised as Xue Qinghe—an opportunity to approach Tang Mo 30 34.

Rongrong initially dislikes the idea of an arranged introduction, but changes her mind after seeing Tang Mo. When approaching sea soul beasts force the adults to prepare for battle, she chooses to stay with him rather than the more familiar Xue Qinghe. In the sect’s carriage, she offers refreshments, introduces her Martial Soul, and asks about his abilities 34 37.

Tang Mo teaches her Object Control and basic Object Transformation, helping her reach level ten and kill the soul beast selected for her first ring. Rongrong subsequently presses Gu Rong to repay his kindness and offers the sect’s gemstones and rare metals as compensation. Tang Mo accepts because he needs those materials for artifact refining 38 39 41 46 47.

Sea Voyage and Tang Mo’s Disappearance

Rongrong enthusiastically joins the voyage from Vast Sea City. When Xiao Bai carries Tang Mo away, however, she cries and urges Gu Rong to rescue him. During his absence, she shuts herself away and sulks at her guardian, worrying him enough to discuss her condition with Yue Guan 53 66 70.

When Tang Mo returns, Rongrong charges toward him. He catches her and spins to absorb the impact before setting her down; Hu Liena then restrains her to prevent another charge 71.

The Dagger and the Sea Goods District

After half a year of seclusion, Tang Mo returns Rongrong’s dagger with the ability to release Evil Spirit Orca Slash. Her first test consumes over eighty percent of her soul power. Tang Mo gives her a Crimson Yang Pill and helps her refine it to recover 73 74.

Rongrong later interrupts Tang Mo’s spar with Chen Xin, shielding Tang Mo and accusing her “Grandpa Sword” of picking on someone smaller. After the duel ends, she leads Tang Mo to Vast Sea City’s Sea Goods District, where her treasure-sensing ability draws her toward an otherwise unremarkable stall 77 78.

Her conspicuously expensive clothes and accessories also attract thieves and raiders. Tang Mo protects her during the ensuing attacks, prevents her from looking at a corpse, and carries her while fighting their attackers 77 78 79 80.

Appearance

Rongrong has an innocent-looking face and bright, dewy eyes; strangers can mistake her appearance for an indication that she is easy to deceive 78 79.

  • Clothing: Wears a goose-yellow long skirt during her visit to the Sea Goods District 77.
  • Accessories: Carries a wrist-mounted Storage Soul Tool and wears a valuable hair ornament 77.
  • Display of wealth: Her outfit alone is worth a minor noble’s income over many years 78.

Personality

Rongrong is curious, restless, and accustomed to indulgence. She wheedles Gu Rong into taking her closer to unfamiliar activity, runs around the sect’s spacious carriage, and struggles to settle down for cultivation. Her playful habits delay her first breakthrough despite her high innate soul power 34 37 39 73.

Her “Little Demoness” reputation contrasts with the sweet, sometimes shy manner she initially adopts around Tang Mo. She enjoys praise, celebrates new abilities openly, and can turn petulant when her elders fail to give her the attention she expects. When Chen Xin asks about her dagger before asking how she has been, she pointedly refuses to acknowledge him 36 41 46 50 74.

She is also protective and eager to repay kindness. She argues that Tang Mo deserves compensation for teaching her and physically places herself between him and Chen Xin during their spar. Her distress over Tang Mo’s disappearance shows how attached she has become to him 46 66 70 77.

Abilities & Skills

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda

Her Martial Soul manifests as a brilliant seven-story pagoda and provides support through attribute enhancement 37 41.

  • Enhancement scaling: Its base enhancement is ten percent, increasing by ten percentage points for each soul ring; with her first ring, Rongrong provides a twenty-percent enhancement 42.
  • Treasure sensing: Instinctively detects nearby treasures. At the Sea Goods District, she senses something valuable at a stall but cannot identify the exact object 78.
  • Cultivation ceiling: The seven-story pagoda ordinarily permits no more than seven soul rings and limits its wielder to rank seventy-nine 41.

First Soul Skill: Attack Enhancement

Obtained from the Giant-Claw Demon Shrimp, this skill raises the power of the recipient’s next move to 120 percent of its usual strength 41 42.

  • Activation: Uses the invocation, “Seven Treasures Turn, Revealing Glazed Splendor. First: Attack” 42.
  • Timing: Best applied immediately before a teammate attacks, allowing a sudden increase in power to catch an enemy off guard 42.
  • Efficient use: At level eleven, she can enhance a Soul Master in the teens approximately ten consecutive times if each enhancement is immediately used 42.
  • Maintenance cost: Continues draining her soul power while the recipient delays attacking. Maintaining it on the much stronger Tang Mo nearly exhausts her in less than a minute 42.
  • Cancellation: Withdrawing the pagoda removes the enhancement 42.

Object Control

Tang Mo teaches Rongrong to establish a connection with a weapon by feeding soul power into it. The method is not restricted to a particular Martial Soul 38 39.

  • First demonstrated result: Makes her dagger tremble in response to her will 39.
  • Initial limitation: Cannot make it float during her first attempt; exhausting her soul power causes her to faint 39.

Object Transformation

Rongrong learns the simplest form of Object Transformation: temporarily improving a weapon’s basic properties by channeling soul power into it 41.

  • Application: Enhances her dagger sufficiently to pierce the Giant-Claw Demon Shrimp’s brain after her unaided thrust becomes stuck 41.
  • Demonstrated scope: Her lesson covers basic reinforcement, not independent mastery of the technique’s more advanced forms or artifact refining 41.

Heart Separation Control and Spiritual Aptitude

Rongrong practices Heart Separation Control and battlefield micromanagement, directing different enhancements according to her teammates’ circumstances 79.

  • Purpose: Avoids the unsustainable soul-power cost of applying every enhancement to every teammate simultaneously 79.
  • Spiritual sensitivity: Notices the unfamiliar aura surrounding Tang Mo after he kills a raider 79.
  • Talent: Tang Mo judges her natural spiritual-power aptitude to be slightly greater than Hu Liena’s, though their training develops it in different directions 79.

High-Grade Meditation

  • Practices a high-grade meditation method that provides substantial resistance to resentment within soul rings. Tang Mo judges that she could have absorbed the shrimp’s ring without his Water Mirror intervention 42.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Lou Gao-forged dagger: A blade under thirty centimeters long, decorated in gold and red with red gemstones on its hilt and sheath. Rongrong uses it for her initial Object Control training and first soul-beast kill 38 41.
    • Tang Mo’s refinement: Adds black-and-red runes and the ability to release Evil Spirit Orca Slash, originally a soul skill of his Fish Intestine Sword 73.
    • Cost and growth: Her first release consumes over eighty percent of her soul power. Tang Mo explains that the attack will strengthen as her soul power increases and she continues nourishing the dagger 73.
  • Storage Soul Tool: Worn on her wrist and used to carry possessions, including her dagger 38 41 77.
  • Crimson Yang Pills: Receives one hundred pills from Tang Mo. Taking one raises her to level thirteen; another helps her recover after testing the refined dagger 48 50 73 74.

Relationships

  • Ning Fengzhi — Father and sect master. Indulges her wishes and considers her future responsibilities, but refuses to trade her interests for political advantage 30 34 72.
  • Gu Rong / Bone Douluo — Guardian and grandfather figure, addressed as “Grandpa Gu” or “Grandpa Bone.” Protects her, selects her first soul beast, and worries about her growing attachment to Tang Mo 34 41 46 70.
  • Chen Xin / Sword Douluo — Grandfather figure, addressed as “Grandpa Sword.” Dotes on her, though she readily scolds or ignores him when displeased 38 72 74 77.
  • Tang Mo — Friend, instructor, and object of her affection, usually addressed as “Big Brother.” Teaches her self-created techniques, supports her cultivation, refines her dagger, and protects her from attackers 37 38 41 66 73 79 80.
  • Hu Liena — Traveling companion and frequent sparring partner in petty quarrels. Hu Liena teases her and pinches her cheeks; Rongrong retaliates by calling her an “old woman” 47 50 71.
  • Qian Renxue / Xue Qinghe — Familiar acquaintance in the guise of the Heaven Dou crown prince. Secretly encourages Rongrong’s seaside trip and uses her curiosity to approach Tang Mo 30 34 37.
