Dark clouds over the city, Sentinel prototypes descend
A gust of wind rushed in through the huge gap in the French windows, overturning the wine glasses on the table. Scarlet wine dripped down the wood grain and splashed onto the expensive carpet.
Lynn loosened his tie; the cold night wind, carrying the distinctive smell of gunpowder and car exhaust of Manhattan, forcefully pierced his nostrils. He swallowed the last mouthful of Romanée-Conti, the slightly sour and astringent taste quickly spreading across his tongue.
He leaned back in his chair, his deep black eyes fixed on the pale blue Holographic Projection in mid-air.
That was the Highest Access Privileges S.H.I.E.L.D.. terminal left behind by Natasha before she left. At this moment, the screen was displaying live footage of the sky above the Stark Shares Building.
The thick cumulus clouds were forcibly torn apart by three violent forces.
Boom--!
The deafening roar of engines echoed across several blocks, even causing the floor beneath Lynn's feet to tremble slightly. Three steel Beast, each ten meters tall, spewing eerie blue Plasma Exhaust, shattered the New York night with an unbridled ferocity.
The masterpiece of Trask Industries: the Sentinels Prototype.
The full-body Special Alloy armor gleamed with a cold, deathly matte light under the navigation lights. They had no human features, only inverted triangular mechanical eyes, which were flashing Scarlet light as they locked onto their targets. Their massive bodies hovered in mid-air, and the terrifying air pressure generated by their Antigravity Engine transformed into a small hurricane.
Seventh Avenue below is in complete chaos.
Screams, the sounds of car crashes, and piercing sirens mingled together. The glass curtain walls lining the street couldn't withstand the pressure of the high-frequency sound waves and shattered on a large scale. Tons of broken glass rained down on the ground like hail, severing fire hydrants and sending high-pressure water jets soaring into the sky, turning the entire neighborhood into a scene of apocalypse.
Lynn looked at the civilians scurrying away in panic on the screen, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
"That old dog Stryker, he tore off his last shred of dignity just to force me to take action." Lynn tapped his fingertips lightly on the table, tap, tap, tap. The rhythm was so steady it was unsettling.
Natasha's cold voice, tinged with static, came through the miniature Communicator next to her ear.
"Sir, I've hacked into Stryker's private military frequency band." Natasha's breathing was slightly labored from the intense exertion, but her tone carried an barely suppressed fervor. "He's currently hiding in a nuclear bunker 300 meters below the Pentagon, keeping a close eye on your properties via military satellites. His heart is pounding; he's afraid, but he'd rather see you furious."
"Is that so?" Lynn chuckled softly, his eyes devoid of any warmth.
"Should I cut off his visual signal?" Natasha's crisp click as she cocked her pistol came through the radio waves. "Or, I can just switch the bunker's ventilation system to gas release. I guarantee he won't even be able to scream."
"Keep his eyes." Lynn stopped tapping the table.
"Let him see." Lynn's voice was as cold as a Scalpel, precisely dissecting the enemy's psychological Defense Line. "Let him watch helplessly as his ultimate trump card, built with the utmost resources, turns into a pile of scrap metal. I want him to go to Hell with the most extreme despair."
"Understood." Natasha's voice immediately softened, carrying a hint of sickly flattery. "I'll serve you the core code of these three pieces of junk as an appetizer tonight. But sir... that crazy woman Wanda might blow up the whole building, so I've already locked down the building's physical load-bearing structure."
"Just focus on your own business and don't provoke her." Lynn abruptly ended the communication.
He picked up the other unbroken wine glass and turned his gaze back to the screen.
Fury, that one-eyed bastard, and Stryker, that fool, thought they could force Lynn to reveal his trump card by using three war machines equipped with Mutants- restraining programs?
It's utterly ridiculous.
Lynn, having fused the Super-Soldier Serum with Top-tier Spider-Sense, had already reached an unbelievable level of physical strength. But now, he didn't need to lift a finger. He preferred the feeling of being high above, manipulating everything at will.
His Spider-Sense traced four extremely clear paths in his mind. They were four terrifying killing intents, enough to wipe Manhattan off the map, locking onto the three Sentry from four directions.
Wanda's Chaos Particles have already converged into an invisible Scarlet storm above the clouds; Susan's Invisible Force Field has compressed the air to its limit, even light is deflected around her; Gwen Stacy, like a massless shadow, is rapidly climbing along the exterior wall of the building; and Natasha has long since transformed into the Grim Reaper in the Data Stream.
These three arrogant mechanical Beast were completely unaware that they had stepped into a maddening death trap. They were still faithfully carrying out Stryker's orders to destroy them.
On the screen, three Sentry simultaneously raised their massive mechanical arms.
Click click click--
The thick alloy armor on his chest slid open to the sides, revealing a High-Frequency Energy-Concentrating Cannon array inside that emitted a blinding red light.
Buzz--!
The shrill scream of high-energy particles being compressed so violently pierced the microphone, piercing the eardrums painfully. The blinding red light illuminated the logo atop the Stark Shares Building in a ghastly white light. In just a few more seconds, this beam of energy, enough to vaporize an Helicarrier, would completely level Lynn's multi-billion dollar property.
Lynn not only didn't stop her, but instead adjusted her posture to be more comfortable with great interest.
He knew perfectly well that the four women, caught in a frenzied struggle for the "bedroom ticket," would never allow these three pieces of junk to fire a single shot. Whoever let a single brick fall from the building would be completely out of the game tonight.
"Three," Lynn counted down softly.
The red light on the Sentry's chest shone brightest, its energy peak exceeding the critical point.
"Two."
Around the muzzle of the Energy-Concentrating Cannon, the air was violently distorted due to the extreme heat, and the asphalt road below even began to melt.
"One."
Just as the beam of destructive light was about to be unleashed.
The night sky above the Stark Tower suddenly shrank dramatically inward!
Without any warning, without the slightest leakage of energy, that previously empty space was as if it had been gripped tightly by an invisible giant hand, forcibly twisting into countless eerie, dark blue folds.
The hunt has begun.
