What had she called him?
Train Conductor?
The instant he heard that title, Ye Qiyan wondered whether he had entered a city founded by some Train Conductor.
But clearly, this was not one.
A steam train sped past on the track on his other side.
There was no trace of any special ability on it. It was just an ordinary train.
That was unusual.
At least for Ye Qiyan, the last time he had seen a purely ordinary train had been before he came to the Wasteland.
"Hey, didn't you hear me? Hurry back."
Seeing that he remained where he was, the blonde girl actually took out a scepter taller than a person. Light shone beneath her feet, and she leaped over to him on diamond-shaped patterns of light.
"Y-you need to go back. If someone reports you to the Church of Discipline, you'll be arrested and put in prison."
Ye Qiyan looked the girl up and down. Perhaps a hint of interest had entered his gaze, for she could not help lowering her head, hiding her cheeks beneath her wide hat brim.
It was not hard for Ye Qiyan to glean some information about this world from her few remarks.
Here, the title of Train Conductor did not carry the special significance it did in the Wasteland and other Platform Worlds. It really just meant someone who drove a train.
Then there was the Church of Discipline. Judging by its name, it sounded very much like a religious church with an armed force.
And the power this blonde girl had just displayed seemed anything but simple.
"Is there something strange about me?"
The blonde girl spoke softly.
"Also, please hurry back. It really wouldn't be good if you got arrested."
Ye Qiyan stopped looking her over.
