Fu Wenzi studied Taoist culture at university and became a Daoist priest at Hundred Feather Palace. His talent for drawing talismans ranks among the Palace’s best. His refined appearance initially led Sect Leader Zhang Wenxiu to expect a restrained, dependable disciple, but his talkative and mischievous behavior repeatedly undermined that impression 68 249.

Before meeting Qin Yan, he spent an extended period searching remote mountains for materials containing spiritual energy or capable of countering Anomalies. He survived on wild fruit and vegetables and eventually found an arm-length piece of lightning-struck wood. His expedition also left him lost, filthy, and repeatedly pursued by wildlife 55 60 64.

Meimei’s inheritances gave him access to teachings more complete than the Dao arts preserved in his world. He pursued artifact refining under an inheritance master while retaining his ties to Hundred Feather Palace and his real-world master, Daoist Master Chenguang 65 123 250.

With his inheritance master’s approval, Fu Wenzi began teaching artifact refining to students selected by the Special Administration Bureau. His master required that those taught and accepted as disciples identify with the Flame Refining School, preserving the lineage in Dongyan. Fu Wenzi accepted this condition and called himself the school’s first leader on Blue Star 287.

Fu Wenzi is sunny, outgoing, loyal, and almost immediately friendly with strangers. He readily talks to neighbors, market sellers, and even unfamiliar cats and dogs. His kindness is practical: he carries water uphill for an elderly man with back trouble and stops to free a dog whose head is trapped in a doorway 70 122 249.

His chatter, theatrical complaints, and teasing frequently exasperate his family. He gives affectionate nicknames to people he is close to, calling Qin Yan “Kitty” or “Kitten,” and enjoys joining crowds to hear gossip. He is also thick-skinned enough to devise outrageous disguises, although watching recordings of his own behavior embarrasses him intensely 69 103 132 359 377.

He openly adores Qin Yan and competes with his brothers for opportunities to hold and care for her. Her affection quickly dispels his resentment after the family accidentally leaves him behind. Despite his silliness, he becomes serious when confronting those responsible for her suffering and rejects Shen Fu’s attempt to excuse harming innocent people through her own unhappy upbringing 84 90 92 249.
