Background / History

The Gate of the Great God was created after Hashirama Senju defeated Uchiha Madara and subdued the Nine-Tails. Hashirama formed it with the Wood Style Secret Technique in cooperation with Mito's sealing technique, drawing inspiration from his own Goreishomon technique. It was left behind so later generations could suppress the Nine-Tails should it ever go berserk. 270

The gates stand throughout the secret passage leading to the Scroll of Seals. Mito designed the seal, while Hashirama applied it using Sage Chakra; the First and Second Hokage also established the passage's defensive activation mechanism. 270

Appearance

The Gate of the Great God manifests as massive red torii gates positioned at intervals along a wide, deep underground passage. Their size and presence exert a palpable pressure on those beneath them. 270

The installed gates can maintain themselves without continuous intervention.
