Background & History

The Sharingan is an inherited Uchiha bloodline power. It is activated only by those with Uchiha genes: strong emotional shock generates a special energy in the brain, which travels through the optic nerves and opens the eyes. Its growth is driven by Yin Release Chakra, primarily formed from mental energy. As the clan's Six Paths bloodline diluted over generations, increasingly powerful emotional stimuli became necessary for awakening and evolution. 61 174 279

Within the Uchiha Clan, awakening the Sharingan is treated as proof of exceptional value. Newly awakened users receive clan support, and early awakening is believed to provide more time and emotional volatility for future evolution. 8 19

The Uchiha Stone Tablet records the Sharingan's stages and can only be deciphered through its Pupil Power. Even Mangekyō users can read only part of the tablet, which first indicates the existence of a higher stage beyond the Mangekyō. 184
