Xiu refused Dragon’s invitation to join the Revolutionary Army and let him leave, then set sail with Hina for Loguetown ahead of Roger’s execution. Three days into the voyage, Hina spotted the Big Mom Pirates in the East Blue, leaving Xiu wondering why Charlotte Linlin’s crew was there.
Era Xiu killed Oven and his pirate crew, prompting Big Mom to order Katakuri and Daifuku to avenge him. Three days later, Xiu reached Loguetown and prepared for unrest ahead of Roger’s execution, then learned that a Big Mom Pirate Crew ship had appeared.
Era Xiu confronted Daifuku and Katakuri, who had come to avenge Oven, and agreed to fight Katakuri in a fair duel on a deserted island near Loguetown. Word of the duel spread among the island’s pirates, who gathered nearby to watch.
After returning to Loguetown, Xiu forced Morgans into his service by giving him a new power tied to a threat against his life. Morgans left under orders to keep their relationship secret, while the document he brought revealed the time of Big Mom’s Tea Party and its confirmed guests.
After Xiu forced Morgans to become his subordinate in Loguetown, Morgans flew to Mary Geoise to complain to the Five Elders and demand Xiu’s true identity. The Five Elders stopped him from insulting Xiu, and after Imu allowed them to reveal a little, they warned Morgans he might regret learning the truth.
Xiu agreed to fight Bullet on a deserted island and decided he would pursue the rank of Marine Admiral to gain some peace. At Marineford, Zephyr resigned as an Admiral, prompting Sengoku to reconsider his candidates and summon Kuzan.
Xiu fought Douglas Bullet on Crimson War Island, overwhelming him with close combat and a fully chanted Sōkatsui. Bullet survived with a devastating abdominal wound and, with only minutes left before he might die, challenged Xiu to keep fighting.
Xiu defeated Bullet and granted his wish to die, then left the deserted island. With five days until Roger’s execution, Kaido arrived at Whole Cake Island, where Big Mom discussed Xiu’s attacks on her family before Cracker announced a woman’s arrival.
Stussy attended Big Mom’s Tea Party and learned why Big Mom was angry with the Marine Xiu. Curious about the World Government’s former orders to protect him, she offered to invite him to a special Tea Party herself.
After Stussy asked Morgans to introduce her to Xiu, Morgans flew to Loguetown and mistook Xiu’s presence for a reason to pledge his loyalty. He then told Xiu that Stussy wanted to meet him, leaving Xiu puzzled about her motives.
Morgans relayed Xiu’s terms to Stussy, who set out for Loguetown to meet him. Big Mom believed Stussy was trying to persuade Xiu to attend her Tea Party, while Stussy looked forward to meeting the man the Five Elders had ordered protected.
Stussy visited Xiu with an invitation to Big Mom’s tea party and a personal question about his connection to the World Government. Xiu recognized her as a CP intelligence agent and exposed that he knew her role, leaving Stussy stunned.
Vice Admiral Xiu revealed that he knew Stussy’s identity, then overwhelmed her after she tried to kill him. Morgans persuaded Xiu to spare Stussy because she could be useful, and Xiu punished her with Byakurai.
Stussy joined Morgans in serving Xiu and told him that Big Mom was watching her. Xiu agreed to Stussy’s plan to accept Big Mom’s Tea Party invitation but delay it until after Roger’s execution in Loguetown.
Kuzan returned to Marineford and agreed to support Xiu’s appointment as Admiral, asking to serve as Xiu’s adjutant in exchange. Sengoku ordered them to depart for Impel Down that afternoon, while Kuzan wondered about a possible connection between Xiu and the Five Elders.
Sengoku, Zephyr, and Garp entered Impel Down to take Roger out of his cell. Roger emerged spirited and joking, while Garp privately carried the weight of his promise to protect Rouge and her unborn child.
Roger was taken from Impel Down aboard Sengoku’s warship, where he spoke with Garp about his final wish and hinted that he might still have a scheme. Meanwhile, Xiu cleared Loguetown’s square and ordered the Marines to build an execution platform.
Xiu learned that Kuzan had recommended him for an Admiral position because Kuzan wanted to become his adjutant and avoid extra work. After Xiu accepted Hina as his second adjutant, Sengoku said the Admiral list had already been sent to Mary Geoise, and Xiu chose the code name Residual Flame.
