Ch. 3All things in the universe, turn to ashes, Ryūjin Jakka!!!

After three years of training on a deserted island, Era Xiu met Sengoku and decided to join the Navy. Sengoku recognized Xiu’s katana as the source of his power and challenged him to a test while the warship was being repaired.

  • Era Xiu explained to Sengoku how he had lived and trained alone on the island for three years, while concealing that he could not remember how he arrived.
  • Xiu learned that Roger would turn himself in that year and decided the Navy was a safer choice than sailing as a pirate.
  • Sengoku used Observation Haki to assess Xiu and noticed his unusual physical condition and katana, Ryūjin Jakka.
  • Sengoku invited Xiu to join the Navy, and Xiu accepted without hesitation.
  • Sengoku challenged Xiu to a fight so he could judge his strength and correct any flaws in his training.

  • Sengoku told Xiu that his strength merited a higher position, but his lack of military merits made promotion difficult.

Ch. 6Imu's... "Appreciation"?

Sengoku decided to make Xiu a commodore, despite Xiu’s protests, and promised to seek the Five Elders’ approval. After several days aboard the warship, Xiu arrived with Sengoku and Doberman at Mary Geoise, where he prepared to face the World Government’s highest authorities.

  • Sengoku told Xiu he would begin his Navy career as a commodore, and Xiu protested that he was unqualified.
  • Sengoku dismissed Xiu’s objections and said he would handle getting the Five Elders’ approval.

Ch. 7That Gentle Smile

The Five Elders brought Era Xiu to meet Imu in Pangaea Castle, where she studied him with unusual tenderness and seemed struck by how much he resembled someone she remembered. Imu let Xiu pursue his plans with the Marines, and he left without realizing how warmly she smiled after him.

  • The Five Elders escorted Era Xiu through Pangaea Castle and introduced him to Imu.
  • Imu studied Xiu’s red eyes and wondered whether he could be the person she remembered.

  • Sengoku, Zephyr, Akainu, and Xiu went to the Training Ground, where Xiu noticed the cadets Hina and Smoker.
  • Sengoku announced the spar as a fight between Vice Admiral Akainu and Ella... Xiu, and Xiu drew Ryūjin Jakka.

  • Xiu revealed that he knew about Rouge’s unborn child, then reassured her that he had only come to visit and would not arrest her.
  • Xiu suggested naming the child Ace and told Rouge he would bring him back if he made wrong choices in the future.
  • Rouge thanked Xiu and said the future was impossible to predict, and Xiu left her home.
