Background / History

Childhood and Tobirama’s Discipleship

Yuying possesses knowledge of Naruto’s original story, including Might Duy’s future and Tobirama’s expected death. After seeing only two faces on Hokage Rock, he recognizes that he has arrived before the First Shinobi World War and resolves to train rather than become a casualty 2 8 13.

He lives separately from his grandfather by age five and trains in a forest clearing with rocks and wooden posts. There, he befriends Might Duy and develops flight through experimentation with his internal energy. He also approves Yiteng Yue’s relationship with Granny Aoi and joins their celebratory dinner 2 4.

His successful Destructo Disc experiment attracts the Hokage’s attention but leaves him hospitalized from exhaustion. Tobirama subsequently accepts him as a disciple and teaches him chakra cultivation and ninjutsu. Yuying describes ki to Tobirama as an energy system he developed himself 6 7.

Academy Fame and Early Missions

Yuying enters Academy Class One alongside Duy and immediately distinguishes himself by throwing a kunai through a tree and embedding a wooden kunai in stone. His public fight with Hatake Sakumo ends with both boys unconscious, while a later spar with Tobirama leaves Yuying hospitalized after he embarrasses his teacher 5 11 15 16.

His talent draws attention from Konoha’s clans and foreign intelligence networks. Uchiha Hanyue and Hyuga Yeyang are encouraged to befriend him, while foreign spies attempt to abduct him. Yuying eventually kills two attackers with Energy Waves, though the encounter again leaves him badly injured 17 18 19 20.

Tobirama later reveals that Anbu have spent years intercepting assassination attempts against him. Yuying begins taking outside missions with Duy and Sakumo, but his early encounters with stronger enemies expose the gap between physical power and battlefield experience 26 28.

War and the Spread of Ki

After mastering Instant Transmission, Yuying becomes a major transport asset for Konoha. He moves reconnaissance reinforcements, supplies, and large groups of ninja between fronts; during negotiations, he even transports the Eight-Tails to Kumogakure 35 38 40 42.

He shares ki cultivation with his companions and senior fellow disciples. Their training later develops into the Konoha Elite Training Base, which he promotes through an Academy demonstration attended by more than three hundred students and their teachers 24 46 50.

When spies attack his students’ families, Yuying retaliates against Sunagakure, fighting its leaders and Bunpuku before confronting Shukaku. In a later conflict, he rescues Hyuga Yeyang, kills the Raikage, and survives Kinkaku and Ginkaku’s suicidal explosions through a Senzu Bean 56 57 64.

Team 15’s Training Journey

Tobirama asks Yuying to lead a squad rather than devote all his abilities to the elite training camp. Yuying specifically requests ordinary candidates with poor grades or difficulty refining chakra, and receives Yumengliang, Hana, and Qingliu as Team 15 92 104.

He secures permission for a long-term training mission outside Konoha. Their journey includes chakra-control exercises, specialized movement techniques, and instruction in several villages. In Kumogakure, he also teaches Killer B, Lei Luo, and Ruroi, whose attachment to him makes his own students jealous 107 108 109 125 126 128.

During the journey, he survives a combined assault by the Four-Tails, Ōnoki, and the Tsuchikage, despite losing an arm and suffering severe wounds. He later confronts Black Zetsu, takes a blue bead from him, and returns to Konoha with his students after more than two years away 117 134.

Korin Tower and the Ōtsutsuki Crisis

Yuying places Kami’s Lookout in space, conceals it with a formation, and prepares Dragon Balls there. He then constructs an eighty-kilometer Korin Tower in the Land of Hot Water, claiming the surrounding area while promising to protect the country if it remains outside wars 145.

Urashiki Ōtsutsuki arrives above the tower and sends Yuying into another space. Yuying later rescues Jiraiya and two jinchūriki with Sasuke’s help, warns ki practitioners to flee rather than fight Urashiki, and rescues Tobirama during the ensuing attacks 155 161.

Korin Tower subsequently attracts ninja from multiple nations. After Mito Uzumaki’s funeral, Yuying arranges for seven children to train under Korin and requires them to climb the tower using physical strength alone 171.

The Endless Abyss

After Urashiki’s death, Yuying leaves to investigate a mysterious feeling, entrusting recruitment and training to his friends and ordering the Secret Realm kept closed. His search leads to the Endless Abyss, where his perception is blocked and an unseen force drains his strength 179.

Repeated descents require costly system assistance. On one attempt, he transforms amid golden flames and crashes unconscious into a transparent barrier. He eventually opens a passage by repeatedly attacking one point with a Kamehameha while a shadow clone feeds him Senzu Beans, then enters the space beyond and sets a spatial node for his return 180 181.

Appearance

His bravado repeatedly exceeds his judgment: before deployment, his friends defeat him in under five minutes, leaving him too embarrassed to appear outside for three days 4 13 23 31.

He is deeply attached to his family and companions. Duy’s apparent death provokes tears and an explosive ki surge, while his grandfather’s concern prompts him to conceal an upcoming battlefield deployment. He also reassures the lonely Qingliu that he will no longer be alone 28 31 107.

As a teacher, Yuying is generous with knowledge but willing to use brutal methods. He shares ki with Hiruzen and Danzō rather than punish their covert observation, deliberately encourages competition among students, and subjects close companions to grievous injuries during training 24 48 128.

His protectiveness can become ruthless retaliation. He attacks Sunagakure over assaults on his students’ families, but still acknowledges dangerous opponents: after fighting the Four-Tails, he reports that Roshi’s complete transformation could become a serious match for him 56 118.
