As the convoy moved forward.
More and more snow-laden trees appeared on either side.
The outlines of a few mountains gradually came into view.
It was no longer an endless plain.
"Who knows how much longer we'll have to stay in this world of ice and snow? I'm starting to miss my urban apocalypse aesthetic..."
Li Jie looked at the blanket of white before him and couldn't help complaining.
The snow obscured much of their view.
The danger had multiplied as well.
Li Jie glanced at the alarm clock. It was already noon.
"Let's take a break, everyone."
Li Jie took out a megaphone and called to the survivors.
Lu Hanxue wasn't fond of talking, and Hawkeye only liked playing with his eagle.
As the only chatterbox, Li Jie had become the one who gave orders in the group.
At his words, the survivors began clearing the snow from the ground.
Of course, Lu Hanxue could have cleared it very quickly with her ability.
But many of the survivors didn't want to be parasites in the group.
They always volunteered for tasks like this.
The survivors only wanted to work hard to make their presence felt in the convoy and reduce their chances of being abandoned.
Lu Hanxue wasn't in very good shape right now, so she didn't push herself.
The advantage of numbers quickly became apparent.
In the clearing they had made.
People searched the surrounding area for wood they could burn and began lighting fires to cook.
Just then, a sturdily built woman stepped out of the small truck.
She wore a black robe, its hood covering her face.
She came up to Li Jie's vehicle and said quietly, "Li Jie, the food in the truck will only feed a hundred people for three days. How much longer until we reach the town?"
A scar ran down the woman's face from top to bottom, looking particularly fearsome.
Li Jie was already used to it. "Sister Liu Ning, at our current speed, we should get there in two days."
"That's good."
Liu Ning sighed in relief, then turned to direct the survivors as they boiled water and cooked.
Calling it cooking was a stretch. They were only making a little thin porridge.
The last time the convoy had been scattered.
Nearly all the survivors had lost their supplies.
If Hawkeye hadn't been there to keep warning them of the movements of the uncanny entities.
The survivors would probably have suffered quite a few losses as well.
Unfortunately, the Guide had died in that crisis.
Fortunately, Hawkeye had led them to Lu Hanxue. Otherwise, they wouldn't have known how to continue on their journey.
None of the survivors complained about the thin porridge.
In such cold weather, having something to warm their stomachs was already a blessing.
Everything among the survivors seemed orderly.
Lin Yi sat on the roof of the off-road vehicle with a half-smoked cigarette in his hand.
His eyes were fixed on the distance.
There were several contribution point readings there that had almost shrunk to tiny black dots.
That meant Elder Qi's convoy was very far from his current location.
After a day of recovery, he was in much better shape.
"Want some?" Li Jie climbed onto the roof with a bowl of hot porridge.
Then he furtively took a piece of chocolate from inside his clothes. "Hehe, I secretly stashed this away. Want a bit?"
Lin Yi glanced at Li Jie and accepted the hot porridge, but not the chocolate.
The Blood Ring on his hand flashed.
A handful of chocolates appeared directly in his hand.
Li Jie: ...
"Badass!"
Li Jie silently gave him a thumbs-up. "That Anomaly of yours is practically a divine artifact for the apocalypse!"
He sat down beside Lin Yi and gazed into the distance, his expression gradually turning reminiscent. "I know how it feels to lose a friend. Once..."
"I'm not interested."
Holding the hot porridge, Lin Yi leaped off the vehicle and casually found an empty corner to eat by himself.
Li Jie: ...
Fine, that was like talking to a brick wall.
He spotted Wu Ke passing by and chuckled. "Wu Ke, I once had the most sincere love..."
Wu Ke's face darkened. He was just about to run when Li Jie dragged him into the modified off-road vehicle.
"Ah." Wu Ke sighed deeply. "Why couldn't I have Sequence Transcendence..."
"Awooo..."
"Awooo..."
Without warning, waves of wolf howls rang out from a nearby hilltop.
The survivors who had been eating all turned toward the howling in unison.
But they soon realized something was wrong.
The howls were coming from every direction!
"Stay alert! Stay alert!"
Li Jie quickly scrambled out of the modified off-road vehicle.
Hawkeye came to Li Jie's side.
"What's going on?"
Li Jie asked quietly.
"A wolf pack." Hawkeye looked grave. "Not an ordinary wolf pack."
"Over a hundred wolves, each a full three meters tall. There's also a Wolf King among them, at least five meters tall!"
"This is trouble."
Li Jie looked at the terrified survivors around him and thought, We'll probably lose quite a few survivors this time.
"Leave the Wolf King to me."
Lin Yi had appeared beside them at some point.
Then, before Li Jie could speak.
Lin Yi had already disappeared into the white snow.
"Awooo!!!"
The wolf pack began charging madly down the mountain.
The charge of over a hundred giant wolves made the ground tremble.
Like a haughty lord, the Wolf King stood atop the hill, looking down upon his subjects!
Hidden in the Otherworld, Lin Yi brushed past wolves whose eyes glowed green.
Even he needed a little time to cover the distance to the hilltop.
"Awooo!!!"
The Wolf King was still howling, completely unaware of the approaching danger.
"Sequence, Copper Wall, Iron Rampart!"
Li Jie's body began to swell.
Walls of ice rose around the survivors, protecting them within.
Longsword in hand, Lu Hanxue stood proudly on the vehicle's roof, surveying the approaching wolf pack.
"Awooo!!!"
The Wolf King's howls continued.
The wolf pack finally reached them and began slamming into the ice walls without the slightest hesitation.
Bang, bang, bang.
Every impact seemed to strike the survivors' hearts, making them tremble uncontrollably.
"Storm!"
Lu Hanxue pointed her sword at the sky.
In an instant, a storm swept through.
Fierce winds whipped up a blizzard, burying the wolf pack.
The snarling giant wolves were instantly frozen into ice sculptures.
"Are they just ordinary wolves?"
Li Jie punched a wolf away, somewhat puzzled.
How had these wolves, which had no abilities and were merely larger, survived in the apocalypse?
The uncanny entities attacked regardless of whether you were human or animal.
But in the next moment, Li Jie understood.
The giant wolves that had been frozen in ice.
Space rippled.
Their figures vanished in an instant.
When they reappeared, they were already inside the ice walls.
"Holy shit, isn't that Lin Yi's ability?!"
Li Jie was instantly stunned!
A cold glint flickered in Lu Hanxue's eyes.
"Ah! Wolves! The wolves are here!"
"Help!"
Seeing the wolf pack appear without warning, the survivors instantly screamed in panic.
A cold glint flashed in Lu Hanxue's eyes.
"Storm!"
The storm swept through again.
Wherever it passed, wolves and survivors alike were frozen in ice.
"The young lady really is clever. Now they can't bite the survivors!"
Li Jie couldn't help clicking his tongue.
The survivors wouldn't die from being frozen for a little while.
Once the Wolf King died, the pack would naturally scatter!
Meanwhile, Lin Yi had also drawn close to the Wolf King.
Lin Yi emerged from Otherworldly Walking.
The Blade of Greed in his hand flashed with bloody light.
But just as it was about to pierce the Wolf King's skull.
The Wolf King vanished...
