Personality

Li Jie is sociable, teasing, and persistently talkative—behavior he explicitly identifies as the price of his supernatural ability. He jokes about Lin Yi rescuing Bai Xiaoyu and Lu Hanxue’s refusal to wear skirts, although the latter earns him a strike from an ice crystal 33 35.

Despite his chatter, he is observant and practical. He doubts Lin Yi’s claim to be ordinary because his light clothing should be inadequate for the cold, and he bases his theories about Ice and Snow City on three days of observation rather than claiming certainty 32.

He remains protective even when frightened: he shields the injured Lu Hanxue from Blood Ghost and later asks Lin Yi to help shoulder her combat duties. When Lin Yi awakens grieving Da Sha, Li Jie makes an effort to restrain his chatter and give him space 35 40 41.

History

Trapped in Ice and Snow City

Li Jie and Lu Hanxue were separated from their convoy and spent three days trapped in Ice and Snow City before meeting Lin Yi, Clown, and Da Sha. They sheltered the newcomers in a shop, where Li Jie explained his observations about the enormous head overlooking the city and displayed his concealment clock 32.

When the city’s nightly illusions exposed their position, the group brought forward its attack. Li Jie transformed, carried the still-unconscious Da Sha, and urged Lu Hanxue to attack the huge head while he and Lin Yi fought toward Bai Xiaoyu’s singing 33.

Blood Ghost Battle and Escape

After Lu Hanxue was badly injured, Li Jie shielded her while Lin Yi stayed to fight. Blood Ghost’s second form engulfed all three in a Sea of Blood, where Li Jie struggled against repeatedly reforming vengeful ghosts. He briefly despaired after seeing Lin Yi apparently killed 35 36.

Blood Ghost eventually abandoned Li Jie and Lu Hanxue to pursue Lin Yi. Lu Hanxue created an ice sled to retreat, and the pair later reached the unconscious Lin Yi after Da Sha’s final battle. Li Jie placed him on another sled, removing him before the Skinning Ghost could attack 37 40.

Journey with the Convoy

After Lin Yi awoke, Li Jie returned a golden monkey hair found near him, restoring some of his hope following Da Sha’s disappearance. He also privately explained that Lu Hanxue’s injuries had not healed and secured Lin Yi’s agreement to help protect the convoy 40 41.

During the giant-wolf attack, Li Jie defended the survivors while Lin Yi confronted the Wolf King. Once the pack was subdued, he enthusiastically took a wolf mount himself and helped put the new transport arrangement into use 42 43.

Li Jie later accepted a jin of giant-snake meat from Lin Yi, unaware that Lin Yi was using his reaction as an additional safety test. He suffered no apparent ill effects and subsequently asked for more. During the later tide of horrors, he again activated Copper Wall, Iron Rampart to defend the convoy 45 47 50.

Relationships

• Lu Hanxue — Companion and strongest fighter in his group. He calls her “young lady,” respects her strength, and protects her when she is injured 32 35 41.
• Lin Yi — Fellow survivor and combat ally. Their exchanges mix teasing with practical cooperation; Li Jie helps rescue him and returns the golden monkey hair found nearby 33 40 41.
• Da Sha — Carries him through the city’s attackers while he remains trapped in an illusion 33.
