| Hunter, Ninth Art: Wolf Fang | 4 31 | Awakened five years before the school incident, entering the Ninth Art directly without passing through the Tenth Art, Entering the Wild. Grants enhanced physical abilities and senses, power accumulation through stillness, and access to nature-related rituals. |
- Hunter arts become stronger as their numbers decrease. Han He’s direct awakening at the Ninth Art surprises Liu Yiyi and attracts the team’s interest 7 31.
- Han He believes he can advance further. Liu Yiyi teaches him that advancement requires insight connected to his inheritance and personal focus; he later tentatively identifies that focus as preparation 31 32.
Background
Han He grew up in the mountains in a family that had hunted for generations. His grandfather taught him hunting from childhood, beginning with gathering medicinal herbs and fruit before progressing to catching animals. When left alone for days, Han He passed the time counting leaves and playing with the family dog. Counting later became part of his patient approach to stalking prey 4 6.
His grandfather called him a born hunter and taught him to wait for an opportunity: act if success was possible, and run if it was not. Although his grandfather was not an Heir, Han He accompanied him in fighting Evil Sin. His grandfather also had limited contact with government personnel, leaving Han He with practical experience but little understanding of the wider supernatural community 4 6 19.
By the school incident, Han He has no surviving family. He later recalls his grandfather telling him not to hate himself over a choice the older man had made for him. The memory causes intense distress, and Han He privately questions whether he was right; the circumstances are not explained 19 24.
Appearance
- Build: Tall, heavily muscled, and over 180 centimeters in height, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. Liu Yiyi calls him one of the sturdiest Hunters she has met 1 24 33 40.
- Face and eyes: Handsome, usually expressionless, with dark eyes and a stare compared to that of a wild animal 1 3.
- Combat changes: His eyes become pale gray and beastlike during his confrontation with Zhang Ya. Afterward, shadow and light blur his outline and make his presence difficult for Shi Yu to sense 13 14.
- Clothing: Outside school, he wears practical outdoor clothing, including a black jacket, cargo pants, and fingerless gloves 24.
Personality
Han He is exceptionally quiet, composed, and intimidating to his classmates. Before the school crisis, even Shi Yu—his deskmate for less than a month—knows little about him. His silence also has a practical purpose: remaining still and steady allows him to accumulate power 1 3 7.
Preparation governs his habits. He gathers information, stockpiles ritual supplies, and waits for favorable openings rather than acting recklessly. He admits that he cannot feel at ease without enough materials nearby, and uses his limited need for sleep to gather more at night 32 46.
Despite his cold appearance, he is considerate in concrete ways: bringing Shi Yu food, making protective Talismans, helping with household tasks, and offering encouragement when Shi Yu is afraid. He treats protecting a future teammate as both kindness and sensible mutual protection 24.
His composure does not make him indifferent. Huang Daye’s death leaves him furious and ashamed of his inability to save others. He restrains himself while the stronger Evil Sin is nearby, but afterward condemns his own helplessness 13. In ordinary conversation, his careful observations can also lead to mistaken conclusions, as when he misreads Shi Yu’s worries about their living arrangement as disappointment over a missed meal 34.
Abilities & Skills
Hunter Inheritance: Wolf Fang
The Hunter inheritance draws on nature and the wild while tempering its user’s will 32.
- Enhanced physique and senses: Improves strength, physical fitness, and all five senses. Han He demonstrates exceptional speed, balance, bodily control, and quiet movement 6 7 13.
- Power accumulation: Builds strength while silent and steady, allowing him to prepare an attack without conspicuous movement 7 48.
- Efficient rest: Requires little sleep and can store substantial stamina during brief periods of rest 46.
- Origin limitation: Overusing his power once left him unable to get up for two days, dependent on his grandfather to feed him 10.
Minor Ritual: Veins of Green Blood
Veins of Green Blood reactivates ritual materials, enabling them to function individually and linking their protection to the ritual’s initiator 7.
- Uses a dagger, arranged twigs, bird feathers, animal teeth, and reddish-brown and clear liquids 7.
- Han He regularly renews his materials through the ritual to keep their power active 24.
- His prepared materials provide concealment, protection, and dispelling, with strong effectiveness against powers of the same tier 24.
- Supplies are expendable: merely hiding from the stronger school Evil Sin consumes most of his activated protective and concealment materials 13.
Talismans and Nature-Based Effects
Han He makes Talismans and performs rituals involving the wild, nature, and spirits, including effects capable of opposing Evil Sin without physical form 3 7 24.
- Danger indication: The Talisman given to Hu Zihao alerts Han He and indicates a direction when Hu Zihao is attacked 6.
- Perception defense: Breaking a prepared twig reveals a wall concealed by the Evil Sin’s interference. Another twig helps him escape a perception attack in Room 225 6 13.
- Force enhancement: A ritual using twigs, a Beast Fang, a Bird Feather, and liquid helps him force open the sealed washroom door, though Shi Yu’s intervention is still necessary 6.
- Combat protection: A prepared Talisman, reinforced by Shi Yu’s Thought, lets him penetrate He Siying’s wind barrier. The Talisman is destroyed during the exchange 48.
- Recovery support: Uses crushed green shoots, their juice, and spoken words to ease Shi Yu’s exhaustion after stamina testing 50.
Tracking and Supernatural Detection
- Recognizes blood by smell and uses scent to assess Evil Sin contamination around people and locations 4 13.
- Distinguishes traces of different supernatural powers by scent, including Shi Yu’s power and the Smelting and Tailor inheritances 41.
- Notices environmental warning signs, including the disappearance of ordinary wind and tree sounds before He Siying’s test 47.
- Limit: Shen Bai clarifies that the newcomers’ early detection of the school Evil Sins involved the aura of molting ascension, rather than direct detection of the creatures themselves 29.
Combat and Fieldcraft
- Hunting: Experienced in gathering herbs, navigating mountains, stalking prey, and waiting for openings 6 44.
- Close combat: Evades Zhang Ya’s ambush, breaks his elbow, and kills him with an old-fashioned dagger 13.
- Emotional discipline: Recognizes that Zhang Ya can stir emotions rather than directly control actions. He feigns submission before striking 13.
- Concealment: Can make his outline indistinct and diminish his presence through prepared materials 14 48.
- Ability testing: Identifies Shi Yu’s vulnerability to surprise attacks and tests both Telekinesis and Thought through controlled exercises 40 41.
Cooking
- Prepares meals that Shi Yu considers markedly better than his own cooking, including Spicy Cabbage and Sauce-Fried Zucchini 40.
- Rejects supermarket meat because it is no longer fresh, choosing vegetables instead 35.

Their initially reserved acquaintance develops into a close domestic partnership involving meals, training, and shared responsibilities 1 4 21 24 40 44.
- Hu Zihao — Classmate and later teammate. Han He warns him that an Evil Sin has targeted him, provides a charm, and repeatedly helps protect him during the school incident 3 6 16 28.
- Grandfather — Guardian and hunting teacher. His lessons shape Han He’s patience and survival instincts; memories of his final instructions remain painful 4 6 24.
- Huang Daye / Huang Qingyang — School caretaker whose attempt to save the students deeply affects Han He. Han He discovers his death and later helps Shi Yu bury the rings he left behind 13 18 44.
- Liu Yiyi — Snow Cedar captain and recruiter. She recognizes the significance of his unusual awakening and teaches him about advancement and personal focus 19 31 32.
- Shen Bai — Snow Cedar deputy captain. Helps induct Han He into the organization and regards him as decisive, steady, and unusually promising 28 32 42.
- Huo Qiuliang — Teammate whose Thin Moon abilities clash instinctively with the Hunter inheritance, making both uncomfortable around each other 25 42.
- He Siying — Senior teammate who decisively defeats Han He, Shi Yu, and Hu Zihao in a training encounter, despite praising their performance 48.
Story Role / Major Arcs
School Evil Sin Incident
Han He is the first person to tell Shi Yu that his perceptions make him special rather than crazy. After confirming that Hu Zihao has been targeted, he introduces both classmates to Heirs, Evil Sin, and the Hunter inheritance. His knowledge provides their first practical framework for surviving the school’s increasingly distorted environment 1 3 4.
During the washroom attack, Han He responds to Hu Zihao’s Talisman, counters concealed terrain, and prepares a ritual to force the sealed door. Shi Yu’s luck breaks the latch, allowing the rescue 6.
Investigating the police arrival leads Han He to discover Huang Daye’s murder. He survives the nearby Evil Sin through concealment and realizes that the school contains two Evil Sins. He then confronts and kills Principal Zhang Ya in Room 225 13. When outside help arrives, Han He and Shi Yu keep Hu Zihao alive while Liu Yiyi destroys the Netherworld threat 16.
Joining Snow Cedar
Han He accepts Liu Yiyi’s recruitment offer after explaining that he has no family left. He subsequently signs a contract and joins [Stars] Unit No. 597, “Snow Cedar,” alongside Shi Yu and Hu Zihao 19 28.
His direct awakening at Wolf Fang becomes a subject of interest during the team’s introductions. Having never experienced an ordinary advancement, he seeks guidance and begins considering preparation as his focus 31 32.
Living with Shi Yu and Beginning Training
After the school incident, Han He moves into Shi Yu’s apartment, bringing food and ritual supplies. He helps subdue the impostor nurse attacking Hu Zihao, later studies the gaps in her cover story, and begins testing Shi Yu’s practical combat limitations 21 24 25 40.
He accompanies Shi Yu into the mountains to bury Huang Daye’s rings 44. Once their paperwork is complete, he participates in the newcomers’ test against He Siying and subsequent physical training, using his nature-based abilities to help Shi Yu recover from exhaustion 46 48 50.
