Lashing Out at Dumbledore
Finally, before Bell fell asleep, Hermione finished telling the whole story.
"I see, I understand now. Thank you for your explanation, Miss Granger."
Dumbledore nodded and turned his gaze back to Bell.
"Well then, Bell, I have one last question. Do you know what this is?"
Dumbledore took out the diary that Bell had given to Professor McGonagall the night before. A large, round hole had appeared in the middle of the diary, with some burn marks around the edge of the hole.
"Voldemort's Horcrux."
Bell answered casually.
Unlike Bell's casualness, a suppressed gasp came from the side after hearing his answer. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur and Professor McGonagall stared at Bell with wide eyes, their faces filled with shock.
Even Snape, who had been standing silently to the side, could clearly see that his expression had changed.
"This is beyond my imagination; this is knowledge that a Little Wizard should not know."
Dumbledore exclaimed in amazement as well.
"Could you tell me where you learned about this?"
"I'm sorry, Professor, Trade Secret."
Could it be that Bell could tell Dumbledore that it was something he knew in his previous life before he traveled back in time?
Tom told me earlier that he and you talked for a long time last night. Can you tell me what you talked about?
"Life? Ideals? Who knows?"
Bell was getting impatient; he didn't think he had done anything that warranted questioning!
... Probably not?
Seeing the atmosphere become heavy again, even more dangerous than before, Hermione anxiously stepped forward once more.
"Professor, Bell, he..."
Bell reached out to stop Hermione from speaking; his patience had run out.
"Are you questioning me, Dumbledore... Professor?"
"I just want to know exactly what happened last night, or if you interpret that as an interrogation, that's fine too."
"Get your identity sorted out, Professor!"
Bell looked at Dumbledore with an unprecedented sharpness in his eyes.
"You are the headmaster of Hogwarts, not Auror of the Ministry of Magic! Instead of wasting your time worrying about these trivial matters, please do your job well first!"
Look at this castle! It's been such a mess these past few months! Professors have no interest in lecturing, and students have no interest in learning. It hardly resembles a school anymore!
I hope Professor McGonagall has conveyed what I said last night to you. Whatever your plans are, get on with it!
I don't want to see my girlfriend living in constant fear because of your plans! She came to Hogwarts to learn magic, not to clean up your little the Chosen One's mess!
Hermione, let's go!
After saying that, Bell didn't care about Dumbledore's reaction, grabbed Hermione's hand, and walked towards the Headmaster's Office.
"Bell..."
Hermione was terrified, even more so than when she first learned that a Basilisk was roaming Hogwarts Castle.
She was terrified that the professors would pull out their Wand and start fighting with Bell in the Headmaster's Office at any moment.
Just as he opened the door to the Headmaster's Office and was about to walk out, Dumbledore suddenly called out to Bell.
"You're right, Bell. I may have overlooked the feelings of many students, but I had no choice."
You must know about that Prophecy from over 10 years ago.
As it turns out, Voldemort is indeed still alive, and in order to defeat him completely, we sometimes have to make sacrifices.
Dumbledore's voice revealed a rare hint of weariness, but his determination remained unwavering.
"Come help me, Bell. If you're there to help Harry, he'll grow up faster and eventually defeat Voldemort."
"I don't believe in any Prophecy! My future is entirely in my own hands!"
Without any hesitation, Bell declined Dumbledore's invitation.
In his view, rather than Professor Trelawney Prophecy Voldemort's defeat, it was her Prophecy that led to Voldemort's downfall.
Even if Voldemort were to be resurrected and appear before him one day, he would only use his own hands to defeat him personally!
He never longed for a hero's redemption, and there was no the Chosen One in this world!
"Oh, right!"
Bell suddenly remembered something very important.
"Next year, my sister will be starting school, and I don't want to see any more messy things wandering around this castle!"
Please remember what I said today: Menethil is not Malfoy, and cannot be easily fooled!
Dumbledore fell silent for a moment as he watched the two men slam the door and leave.
"Outrageous! Absolutely outrageous!"
Professor McGonagall said, her face flushed with anger.
"How dare he... how could he..."
"Alright, Minerva. Bell is right, perhaps I should pay more attention to how the students feel."
Silence fell in the office once again.
Meanwhile, Snape was internally cursing and swearing.
He stood here like a pillar for so long, and this is what he got in return?!
So, what brings him here?
Oh, right! He was there to negotiate with Bell, to see if he could get some materials from the Basilisk Bell.
That's a Millennial Basilisk! Its essence could surely be used to create some wonderful Potions.
Early this morning, after learning that the Basilisk had been killed and its body taken by the Menethil Family's imp, he immediately contacted William.
The two were from the same college and were both people of status, so they would occasionally keep in touch.
Guess what William said next? He actually said that if anyone wanted to touch the Basilisk's corpse, they needed his son Bell's permission?
How dare you act like a father?! Can't you be a little more assertive?!
Despite his best efforts, Snape ultimately failed to persuade William.
Left with no other choice, when he encountered McGonagall in the corridor and learned that Dumbledore wanted to take Bell to the Headmaster's Office for questioning, he immediately ran to the Headmaster's Office to wait for him.
As a result, no matter how much he let his imagination run wild, he never imagined that Little Wizard would dare to turn against Dumbledore!
If he were to catch up with the other person now and discuss the Basilisk matter with him, would Bell mistake him for a plant sent by Dumbledore and pull out his Wand to hit him?
This is truly an undeserved disaster!
Walking down the castle corridor, and seeing that they were already quite far from the Headmaster's Office, Hermione finally mustered up the courage to tug at Bell's hand.
"Bell, wasn't it inappropriate for you to talk to Professor Dumbledore like that?"
"What's wrong with that? If it weren't for my respect for elders and love for children, I would have pulled out my Wand and given him a good whack! Of course, the main problem is that I can't beat him."
Bell said casually.
By this time, he had calmed his anger. After all, he hadn't trained the Undying Flame for so long for nothing.
