Rewriting the Investiture of the Gods in the Primordial World

A thousand years drifted quietly by. The Grand Pure Sage's third sermon came to an end, and under the leadership of Jiang Haofeng and the other three, three hundred thousand humans bowed to the Grand Pure Sage.

"Good!"

The Grand Pure Sage smiled and nodded.

Then, with a sweep of the Grand Unity Fly Whisk in his hand, an incomparably vast force descended. The fifteen hundred Innate Humans led by Jiang Haofeng, along with nearly a hundred thousand Acquired Humans, vanished from the ranks of those listening to the Dao and were drawn aside.

Jiang Haofeng looked at the clansmen around him, and his expression shifted as a possibility surfaced in his heart.

Those who had been taken away were all members of the Human Hidden Lineage, while those left behind were all from the Human Manifest Lineage.

Looking at the remaining fifteen hundred Innate Humans and two hundred thousand humans, the Grand Pure Sage said, "Having heard my Dao, you shall henceforth be my nominal disciples and members of Humanity Teaching."

"In the future, you must spread all that you have learned throughout humanity and take the enlightenment of humanity as your duty!"

Suiren glanced at the members of the Human Hidden Lineage who had been taken away and could not help but understand something. He immediately bowed. "This disciple greets Master!"

Of course, even if they had thoughts in their hearts, with a Saint before them, who would dare show them?

After all, that was a Saint!

A supreme Saint, one who endured through ten thousand calamities without perishing.

Before the sermons, humanity's impression of Saints had remained limited to Jiang Haofeng's words. But after experiencing three sermons and personally witnessing a Saint's power, they finally understood what a Saint truly was!

Saints had already transcended immortals and reached another level entirely. Before such beings, humanity had no power to resist at all.

"Good!"

The Grand Pure Sage nodded once more.

Then the Grand Pure Sage's gaze fell upon Jiang Haofeng and the other humans of the Human Hidden Lineage—or, more precisely, upon Jiang Haofeng.

"When I established my teaching and attained the Dao, I once said that, moved by humanity's lack of cultivation methods, I established Humanity Teaching to enlighten humanity. Yet the humanity I spoke of was the Human Manifest Lineage. The Human Hidden Lineage possesses the inheritance of martial arts and lies outside the scope of my enlightenment."

"Therefore, members of the Human Hidden Lineage may not enter Humanity Teaching!"

As his words fell, unrest immediately broke out among the humans behind Jiang Haofeng. The Saint would not accept them as disciples?

For a moment, the humans were thrown into panic, looking helplessly at Jiang Haofeng at the very front.

Everyone had witnessed the Saint's might with their own eyes. Entering a Saint's Great Sect naturally brought countless benefits. The gains from just these three sermons had already been immense—if there were hundreds more sermons in the future, how powerful would their cultivation become?

Compared to the panic of the other humans, Jiang Haofeng instead let out a sigh of relief, joy rising in his heart.

His arrangement had succeeded perfectly.

Sure enough, with the Human Hidden Lineage and martial arts in existence, Humanity Teaching would not monopolize humanity's merit from spreading the Dao and become bound to Humanity's Destiny.

Establishing Humanity Teaching and enlightening humanity truly was a tremendous blessing for humanity. It was only natural for it to gather Humanity's Destiny. The Grand Pure Sage had spread the Dao among humanity, pulling them from the mire and granting them the chance to grow strong. For humanity, this merit was no less than that of Empress Nuwa, Humanity's Holy Mother, who had created humanity.

It was not impossible for humanity to take the Supreme Pure Sage as its leader, nor would it matter if all of Humanity's Destiny were given to the Grand Pure Sage. But the problem was that the Grand Pure Sage did not involve himself in worldly affairs!

The Supreme was non-intervention!

The Supreme was without emotion!

From beginning to end, the Grand Pure Sage had only done what he ought to do for humanity. The Grand Pure Sage had attained sainthood by establishing Humanity Teaching to enlighten humanity, so among humanity, enlightenment was the only thing he did.

Looking over the history of the Primordial World, the Grand Pure Sage had done only three things for humanity. First, he established Humanity Teaching and transmitted the Grand Pure Great Dao. Once he had finished transmitting the Dao, he retreated into the chaos for secluded cultivation and no longer concerned himself with the affairs of the Primordial World.

Second, he followed the Heavenly Dao Will and had the Three Ancestors, Three Sovereigns, and Five Emperors enter Fire Cloud Cave to suppress Humanity's Destiny.

Third, after humanity suffered the calamity of the witches and demons and the chaos of the Investiture of the Gods, when the Grand Pure inheritance had all but vanished, he established the Daoist Sect.

These three matters were all duties belonging to the Grand Pure Sage himself. Enlightening humanity was what the Grand Pure Sage had declared when he established his teaching and attained the Dao. Ordering the Three Ancestors, Three Sovereigns, and Five Emperors into Fire Cloud Cave was the fulfillment of his duty as a Heavenly Dao Saint.

Beyond that, the Grand Pure Sage had never involved himself in human affairs. Whether it was the Witch-Demon Calamity, when the witch and demon races slaughtered humanity on a massive scale, or when the Son of Heaven replaced the Human King during the Investiture of the Gods, causing humanity to lose Humanity's Co-Lord and its destiny to be divided among the Great Sects, the Grand Pure Sage had never appeared.

Of course, Jiang Haofeng had no intention of blaming the Grand Pure Sage. Establishing a teaching and transmitting the Dao was already a heaven-shaking grace. One must never resent the Grand Pure Sage for not helping humanity, repaying kindness with resentment—that was the conduct of a petty man!

Help was a matter of goodwill; refusing to help was a matter of duty.

Humanity's own affairs ought to be borne by humanity itself. They could not place their hopes on others, then resent them when those others did not step in to help.

Empress Nuwa and the Grand Pure Sage were both humanity's great benefactors. Even if neither had aided humanity afterward, one had created humanity and the other had enlightened humanity—was that not enough grace?

It was enough!

More than enough!

Humanity had lost the Human King and become territory where all the major powers harvested faith. They could blame no one but humanity itself for not growing strong enough to contend with the other powers. It had nothing to do with the two Saints.

Besides, Empress Nuwa and the Grand Pure Sage had never been the sort to involve themselves in affairs. Empress Nuwa dwelled high in Wa Huang Heaven. Let alone humanity, through generation after generation of change in the Primordial World, when had Sage Nuwa ever taken the initiative to participate?

Among the Six Saints of the Heavenly Dao, Sage Nuwa was the Saint most like a true Saint. She had truly remained outside calamities and untouched by karmic ties.

She was also the only one among the Six Saints who, after attaining sainthood, had never walked the Primordial World.

Sage Nuwa did not even have a Daoist temple of her own in the Primordial World. She had always resided in Wa Huang Palace—after the Investiture of the Gods, and before it as well!

As for the Grand Pure Sage, he had always upheld the Dao of nonaction. Even when his own blood brothers came to blows, he did not appear until the very last moment. If he treated even his own brothers thus, how much less would he concern himself with the human race? The human race had not been exterminated, and the Humanity Teaching had not been affected—why would the Grand Pure Sage intervene?

That was straying too far. Back to the matter at hand: since the Grand Pure Sage did not concern himself with such affairs, the fate of the human race could not be placed in his hands. The fate of the human race had to be held in the hands of humanity itself.

Since that was so, the Humanity Teaching could not represent the human race. The Humanity Teaching could be a part of the human race, but the human race could not become an appendage of the Humanity Teaching!

And so, for the human race to have one branch that did not enter the Humanity Teaching was an immense blessing!

Seeing Jiang Haofeng's calm expression, the Grand Pure Sage nodded slightly. Not bad!

"Haofeng, I watched you expound the martial Dao and thereby comprehend the method of attaining the Dao. You established the Humanity Teaching and attained the Dao, thus owing you a great karmic debt!"

"I shall expound the Dao to your Hidden Lineage three times and permit your Hidden Lineage to cultivate my methods and inherit my teachings, thereby repaying this karma."

"Thus, those of your Hidden Lineage have no master-disciple fate with me!"

Jiang Haofeng's eyes immediately lit up. This would completely sever the karma between the Hidden Lineage and the Sage!

Good, excellent!

"I respectfully obey the Sage's Edict!" Jiang Haofeng immediately bowed with great respect.

In his words, he had replaced the word "teacher" with "Sage."

"Good!"

The Grand Pure Sage nodded in satisfaction.

Then the Grand Pure Sage's gaze fell upon Xuandu, and he secretly nodded. Among the entire human race, the two with the greatest talent were Xuandu and Haofeng.

After two teachings, it seemed that every human's cultivation had improved considerably and that their cultivation speed was extraordinarily swift. But that was merely by relying on their own innate foundations. Once those innate foundations were exhausted, they would stop at the late Golden Immortal stage. The only ones who had truly broken through were Haofeng and Xuandu.

Of the two, Haofeng was the leader of the Human Hidden Lineage and was unsuitable to take as a disciple. Xuandu, on the other hand, was innately aligned with the Grand Pure Dao and was fine material to inherit the Grand Pure Dao.

"Xuandu, are you willing to acknowledge me as your master?"

Xuandu froze. Had it not been said that those of the Hidden Lineage would not enter the Humanity Teaching? Why did he now want to accept him as a disciple? He was immediately at a loss, unsure what to do, and could not help looking toward Haofeng before him.

"Why are you still standing there? Quickly pay respects to your Master! For a Sage to accept a disciple is an enormous blessing!"

As Haofeng's words fell, Xuandu came to his senses. He immediately knelt before the Grand Pure Sage and said respectfully, "This disciple, Xuandu, pays respects to Master!"

"Good!"

A trace of a smile appeared on the Grand Pure Sage's face as he nodded in satisfaction.

With a raised hand, Xuandu was immediately lifted to his feet and brought to sit beneath the Grand Pure Sage.

"From this day forth, you are my personal disciple, the first disciple of the Humanity Teaching."

Having accepted a disciple, the Grand Pure Sage turned to Jiang Haofeng again. "Xuandu was originally a member of the Hidden Lineage. By rights, he does not belong to my Humanity Teaching. However, Xuandu is innately aligned with my Grand Pure Dao and is the most suitable person to inherit my orthodoxy."

"I shall use the Qiankun Diagram to settle the karma between Xuandu and you. What say you?"

Jiang Haofeng was stunned. The Qiankun Diagram—the Ultimate Innate Spirit Treasure, the Qiankun Diagram. Was the Grand Pure Sage truly this lavish with his gifts?

This was the Qiankun Diagram! An Ultimate Innate Spirit Treasure that, during the Investiture of the Gods, had directly captured Yun Xiao, a peak Quasi-Saint. It was one of the foremost treasures in the world for trapping enemies, a supreme treasure as famous as Sage Nuwa's Map of Mountains and Rivers.

He was just giving it to him? Just because he had taught Xuandu for ten years, he could receive an Ultimate Innate Spirit Treasure? This gift was a little too scorching to hold.

"What, you are unwilling?"

"Reporting to the Sage, an Ultimate Innate Spirit Treasure is simply far too precious. I am ashamed to accept it."

The Grand Pure Sage smiled. "It is precious to you, but ordinary to me. Other than Innate Supreme Treasures, the rest of these treasures are of little use to me."

"How can a mere Qiankun Diagram compare to my personal disciple?"

With a wave of the Grand Pure Sage's hand, a white scroll descended before Jiang Haofeng. "The karma between Xuandu and the Human Hidden Lineage has now been settled. From this day forth, Xuandu is the first personal disciple of the Humanity Teaching and shall cultivate with me at Shouyang Mountain."
