Chapters 1–25 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 1The Uchiha Qiqi Brought Home

Yelan learned that Qiqi had brought an unusually agile, amnesiac boy named Uchiha Yucheng to Bubu Pharmacy and decided to investigate him. Yucheng recalled his past as a Uchiha shinobi who died in the Second Shinobi World War before waking in the world of Genshin Impact, where he was rescued by Qiqi and treated by Baizhu.

  • Yelan ordered Chu Yi to watch Northland Bank and investigated reports about the amnesiac Uchiha Yucheng, whose agility had raised suspicions that he might be an Inazuman agent.
  • Chu Yi told Yelan that Qiqi had found Yucheng gravely injured and that he now worked as a temporary herb gatherer at Bubu Pharmacy.
  • Yelan decided to see what Yucheng was capable of and asked Chu Yi to find out where Qiqi had found him.
  • Yucheng remembered that he had been an ordinary Uchiha shinobi who died during the Second Shinobi World War before waking in an unfamiliar room.
  • Qiqi told Yucheng she had carried him back from Chaiqiao Valley, and Baizhu examined him and said his injuries might have caused his memory loss.
  • After Baizhu left, Yucheng relaxed in his bed and decided that the world of Genshin Impact seemed pretty good.

Ch. 2Gathering herbs to repay a debt

After recovering at Bubu Pharmacy, Yucheng assessed the abilities he had brought from the world of Naruto and recognized that his chakra could let him wield elemental power without a Vision. Unable to pay his medical bill, he agreed to work as an herb gatherer, and Baizhu approved after seeing Yucheng’s physical skills, assigning Qiqi to guide him.

  • Yucheng recovered after half a month at Bubu Pharmacy and confirmed that he had retained his ninja abilities, including a two-tomoe Sharingan and the ability to use the Great Fireball Technique.
  • Yucheng decided to conceal his ability to use ninjutsu until he could obtain a fake Vision, fearing that Snezhnaya might try to seize his chakra technique.
  • Baizhu required Yucheng to work off the hundred thousand Mora he owed for his treatment.
  • Yucheng chose to repay the debt by gathering herbs for Bubu Pharmacy and accompanying Qiqi, who knew the medicinal plants.
  • Baizhu initially objected to Yucheng climbing mountains so soon after recovering, but agreed after Yucheng demonstrated his jumping and landing skills, and assigned Qiqi to guide him.

Ch. 3Qiqi

Yucheng and Qiqi traveled from Liyue Harbor toward Jueyun Karst to gather herbs for his system quest, and he learned more about Qiqi through her notebook. He found that she had listed him as a friend she must not forget, leaving him determined to help her if he gained the ability.

  • Yucheng received a quest to deliver 100 Qingxin flowers and 40 Violetgrass plants to Bubu Pharmacy within ten days to repay his medical debt.
  • Yucheng and Qiqi set out at first light for Jueyun Karst, where the rare herbs grew in abundance despite the dangerous terrain.
  • Yucheng struggled with the long journey and relied on Qiqi to guide him through Liyue without a minimap or teleportation.
  • Qiqi lent Yucheng her handbook, which contained instructions, personal Edicts, and notes about people important to her.
  • Yucheng found his own entry in Qiqi's notebook, describing him as a friend she must not forget, and resolved to help her in the future.

Ch. 4A trip to Jueyun Karst

Yucheng and Qiqi gathered herbs across Jueyun Karst, using their Wind Gliders to travel between peaks. After reaching Qingyun Peak and finding that its Statue of the Seven gave Yucheng no Geo power, they ate dinner at sunset and glided down to find a campsite.

  • Qiqi climbed Jueyun Karst to gather herbs, and Yucheng followed using chakra to walk up the cliff face.
  • Yucheng and Qiqi picked Violetgrass and Qingxin, then used Wind Gliders to travel between peaks while watching for dangerous drafts.
  • They gathered more than forty Qingxin flowers and over twenty Violetgrass flowers during the afternoon.
  • Yucheng recognized the Statue of the Seven on Qingyun Peak, touched it, and found that he gained no Geo power.
  • Yucheng and Qiqi ate dinner beside the statue while admiring the sunset, then glided down to the mountain's foot to find a campsite.

Ch. 5Soft Exercise

Yucheng and Qiqi camped at the foot of the mountains in Huaguang Stone Forest and discussed how to gather elemental power to walk on cliffs. Qiqi taught Yucheng her Soft Exercise, and they settled down to sleep before continuing their journey.

  • Yucheng chose to spend four days gathering herbs after accounting for the journey to and from Jueyun Karst.
  • Qiqi tried using her Cryo power to stick to the ground, slipped, and fell into Yucheng's arms.
  • Yucheng explained how to use elemental power to walk on cliffs, and Qiqi wrote down his advice.
  • Qiqi agreed to teach Yucheng Soft Exercise after he asked to learn it.
  • Qiqi led Yucheng through half an hour of Soft Exercise, and Yucheng fell asleep at the campsite.

Ch. 6Ganyu's Sneaky Snack

Yucheng and Qiqi gathered herbs in Huaguang Stone Forest, then met Ganyu at their campsite on Mt. Aocang. Ganyu revealed she had eaten the Qingxin flowers they had stored, leaving Yucheng devastated.

  • Qiqi cleared the monsters from Huaguang Stone Forest’s suspension bridges while Yucheng collected their drops.
  • Yucheng and Qiqi gathered Violetgrass and Qingxin, then headed toward Mt. Aocang after Qiqi refused to visit Hulao Mountain.
  • Yucheng and Qiqi found Ganyu asleep at their campsite, where Qiqi excitedly called her the Cocogoat and clung to her.
  • Yucheng introduced himself to Ganyu, who explained she had come to visit her master, Cloud Retainer, and find a gift for her new junior sister.
  • Ganyu admitted she had found an ice cellar containing Qingxin, and Yucheng discovered that the stored flowers were gone.
  • Ganyu realized she had accidentally eaten the Qingxin that Yucheng and Qiqi had gathered, and she blushed as Yucheng mourned their loss.

Ch. 7Ganyu, thoroughly talked around

Yucheng apologized to Ganyu for the Qingxin herbs and learned that she had worked for Liyue for thousands of years without pay or meaningful rest. He persuaded her that her contract with Rex Lapis did not require overwork, leaving Ganyu hopeful about balancing her job with a private life.

  • Ganyu apologized for using the Qingxin herbs, but Yucheng said they could gather more and asked whether she had Mora to offer as compensation.
  • Ganyu explained that she did not use Mora and followed her Qilin Clan way of life, prompting Yucheng to realize she had worked for Liyue for over three thousand years without pay or proper rest.
  • Yucheng asked why Ganyu had stayed in Liyue Harbor and argued that her difficulty fitting in came partly from working constantly and missing social invitations.
  • Ganyu recalled that colleagues and friends had stopped inviting her places, then asked Yucheng what she should do.
  • Yucheng suggested that Ganyu set work hours, take days off, visit the adeptal mountains and her master, and receive pay without violating her contract with Rex Lapis.
  • Ganyu considered Yucheng's advice, relaxed, and smiled as she imagined the life he described.

Ch. 8A salary of 72 billion Mora

Yucheng and Qiqi gathered Ganyu’s gifts and headed home, while Ganyu returned to Liyue and demanded overdue wages and regular working hours. Ningguang arranged for Ganyu’s enormous back pay to be paid in installments and ordered an investigation into what had prompted the change.

  • Yucheng and Qiqi packed the valuable herbs Ganyu had collected and left the campsite for home.
  • Ganyu asked the Liyue Ministry of Civil Affairs to pay her wages for over three thousand years and requested a nine-to-five, five-day workweek.
  • Ningguang learned Ganyu’s back pay amounted to 72 billion Mora and told Baixiao to arrange installment payments and assign people to share Ganyu’s workload.
  • Ningguang ordered Yelan to investigate Jueyun Karst and find out what Ganyu had experienced there.
  • The ministry agreed to pay Ganyu’s wages, including interest, in monthly installments over five years, and news of her new fortune began spreading through Liyue Harbor.

Ch. 9Wangshu Inn

Yucheng and Qiqi stopped at Wangshu Inn on their way back from gathering herbs, where he sold some of their surplus and treated Qiqi to coconut milk. Carrying almond tofu, Yucheng led her toward the inn’s top floor, drawing the attention of Verr Goldet, who recognized Qiqi but did not know him.

  • Qiqi effortlessly defeated two groups of Treasure Hoarders who tried to steal their herb baskets, and Yucheng searched the fallen bandits for Mora.
  • Yucheng took Qiqi to Wangshu Inn to rest and eat, since their herb-gathering trip had left them extra time.
  • Merchants at the inn offered to buy the fresh herbs, and Yucheng sold some to merchants traveling to Mondstadt while reserving the rest for Bubu Pharmacy.
  • Yucheng ordered Qiqi cold dishes and plenty of chilled coconut milk, then bought almond tofu and led her toward the top floor.
  • Verr Goldet recognized Qiqi and watched Yucheng take her upstairs, suspecting that the almond tofu and his destination were significant.

Ch. 10The Yaksha Generals

At Wangshu Inn, Uchiha Yucheng confronted Xiao with knowledge of the yaksha generals and revealed that Bosacius was dead. Xiao demanded to know where Bosacius had died, but Yucheng withheld the location because Xiao’s karmic debt made the journey too dangerous.

  • Yucheng brought Qiqi to the deserted top floor of Wangshu Inn and waited until Xiao appeared.
  • Yucheng named the five yaksha generals and described how karmic debt had claimed four of them, prompting Xiao to ask about their deaths.
  • Yucheng told Xiao that Bosacius was dead but refused to reveal where he died yet.
  • Xiao seized Yucheng by the collar, and Qiqi drew her sword before Yucheng calmed her and Xiao released him.
  • Yucheng explained that revealing Bosacius’s location could lead the weakened Xiao to his death and noted that Morax might also be withholding it for that reason.

Ch. 11Even a Gnosis Could Be Traded

Yucheng told Xiao how Bosacius died and urged him to seek the Anemo Archon in Mondstadt to suppress his karmic debt. Xiao remained wary but learned that fine adeptal wine might persuade the Anemo Archon to help, while Yucheng’s knowledge left him questioning who Yucheng really was.

  • Yucheng recited Bosacius’s final words, convincing Xiao that he had firsthand knowledge of Bosacius’s death.
  • Xiao briefly disappeared to grieve, then returned and asked Yucheng when he would reveal Bosacius’s location.
  • Yucheng said Xiao’s karmic debt had to be suppressed first and suggested seeking the Anemo Archon, whose flute had once calmed Xiao’s pain.
  • Yucheng argued that Rex Lapis would allow Xiao to leave Liyue for treatment, but Xiao doubted the Anemo Archon would help or be easy to find.
  • Yucheng told Xiao to look for the heaviest-drinking person at Mondstadt’s taverns and said the Anemo Archon might help in exchange for fine, thousand-year-old adeptal wine.
  • Xiao questioned how Yucheng knew so much, and Yucheng identified himself as a temporary herb gatherer at Bubu Pharmacy and Qiqi’s junior.

Ch. 12Shenhe Was Forced to Leave the Mountain

Yucheng told Xiao to wait for dependable companions before entering a dangerous place, then left Wangshu Inn with Qiqi. Ningguang ordered an investigation into Yucheng, while Cloud Retainer left her abode and Shenhe decided to descend Mt. Aocang and travel farther afield.

  • Yucheng told Xiao to fulfill his first condition and wait for the right time and trustworthy companions before facing the dangerous place.
  • Yucheng and Qiqi left Wangshu Inn, and Xiao ate the cold almond tofu they had left behind.
  • Verr Goldet sent Ningguang a report about the unidentified young man who had spent nearly an hour with Xiao.
  • Ningguang ordered Baixiao to have Yanshang Teahouse investigate the young man.
  • Cloud Retainer left her abode to visit an old friend, and Shenhe, unable to find food on Mt. Aocang, decided to leave the mountain and travel farther away.

Ch. 13Wanmin Restaurant

After repaying his debt to Bubu Pharmacy, Yucheng became its exclusive herb gatherer and received a new mission to acquire property in Liyue within six months. While considering how to secure a valuable home, he explored the city and headed to Wanmin Restaurant for a meal.

  • Yucheng and Qiqi returned to Liyue Harbor with a large haul of herbs, and Baizhu learned that Ganyu had helped them.
  • Yucheng repaid his medical debt with 100 Qingxin flowers and 40 Violetgrass plants, then sold the remaining herbs to Baizhu for 120,000 Mora.
  • Baizhu hired Yucheng as Bubu Pharmacy’s exclusive herb gatherer, providing him with a regular fee and accommodation.
  • After completing his debt-repayment mission, Yucheng received a new mission to acquire independent property in Liyue within six months, with rewards based on its value.
  • Yucheng used an Advanced Skill Mastery Book to upgrade his Sharingan to Three-Tomoe, then considered how to earn enough Mora for the property mission.
  • Yucheng explored Liyue Harbor and went to Wanmin Restaurant, where he saw a red-haired girl cooking beside a bear-like creature breathing fire into the stove.

Ch. 14Xiangling, always on the go

Uchiha Yucheng met Xiangling at Wanmin Restaurant, where they talked about food and explored Liyue together. After hearing about [Chilled Meat] on Dragonspine, Xiangling rushed off toward Mondstadt, while a blonde girl fished Paimon out of the sea.

  • Uchiha Yucheng ordered Xiangling's signature dishes at Wanmin Restaurant and introduced himself as a traveler from Inazuma.
  • Xiangling invited Yucheng to explore Liyue with her, and they set out for Mt. Tianheng while Guoba followed.
  • Yucheng told Xiangling about Inazuma's ingredients and the Sakoku Decree, then described [Chilled Meat] on Dragonspine.
  • Xiangling hurried toward Mondstadt to find [Chilled Meat], leaving Yucheng behind as Guoba rushed after her.
  • A blonde girl fished a white, flying piece of Emergency Food out of the sea.

Ch. 15A chance at a windfall

Yucheng defeated a group of Hilichurls near Mt. Tianheng and remembered an abandoned adeptal abode containing a fortune in treasures. As he wondered how he could retrieve its enormous Mingxia Floating Life Stone, a burst of elemental light appeared in a nearby abandoned village.

  • Yucheng ambushed and killed the Hilichurls with his Fire Release techniques, then extinguished the flames and climbed to Mt. Tianheng’s summit.
  • Yucheng recalled the legend of [Skybracer Adeptus] and Mt. Tianheng’s heightening during the Archon War.
  • Yucheng remembered that the abandoned abode of [Sea of Clouds, Sea of Moonlight Adeptus] contained a valuable Mingxia Floating Life Stone and other treasures.
  • Yucheng considered the dangers of the abode and how he could move the enormous stone, then noticed elemental light erupting from an abandoned village at the mountain’s foot.

Ch. 16A chance encounter with Shenhe

Uchiha Yucheng encountered Shenhe after she drove off a group of Treasure Hoarders at her abandoned home. Though Shenhe remained cautious, she accepted his food, and the two began to build trust.

  • Yucheng glided from Mt. Tianheng to an abandoned village and saw Shenhe defeat six Treasure Hoarders.
  • Shenhe pointed her spear at Yucheng, but eased her hostility after he said he was Ganyu's friend and had heard about her from Ganyu.
  • Shenhe explained that Cloud Retainer had sent her to experience the mortal world and that she had returned to her former home, now a Treasure Hoarder camp.
  • Yucheng told Shenhe he had flown over after spotting Cryo light from Mt. Tianheng, and her suspicion of him lessened.
  • After Shenhe's stomach growled, Yucheng offered her three cornmeal buns; she made him taste them first, then ate them and thanked him.

Ch. 17Fate is decreed by heaven, fortune is written by human hands

Yucheng challenged Shenhe’s belief that her fate as a solitary star and calamitous bane defined her, and urged her to learn to face and control her emotions. He offered to create an illusion in which she could practice without the red cords, leaving Shenhe fearful but hopeful.

  • Shenhe told Yucheng how her father abandoned her, how she later found her village gone, and how Moon Carver read her an inauspicious fate.
  • Yucheng told Shenhe a story about Nezha overcoming the destiny he was born with and argued that people could shape their own fortunes.
  • Yucheng explained that Shenhe’s red cords could not erase her emotions and that she needed to acknowledge and gradually control her baleful energy.
  • Shenhe feared that removing the red cords would make her lose control, but Yucheng clarified that he meant to guide her through gradual practice.
  • Yucheng offered to construct an illusion where Shenhe could experience having the cords removed and practice keeping her mind clear, and Shenhe showed both fear and anticipation.

Ch. 18Shenhe out of control

Yucheng showed Shenhe a Sharingan illusion of her childhood trauma, which triggered her baleful energy and sent her into a violent rampage. After fighting her for over half an hour and watching her demolish the abandoned village, Yucheng saw Shenhe regain control and catch him as he collapsed.

  • Yucheng activated his Sharingan and drew Shenhe into an illusion of the cave where her father had abandoned her as a child.
  • Shenhe's rage overwhelmed her, and Yucheng dispelled the illusion as her baleful energy began spilling out.
  • Shenhe attacked Yucheng, who dodged her strikes and used the Substitution Technique and clones to survive.
  • Yucheng fought Shenhe for over half an hour until her baleful energy ran low and she regained her senses amid the ruined village.
  • Shenhe caught the exhausted Yucheng as he began to collapse, and they apologized to each other for what had happened.

Ch. 19Adepti couldn't cook

Yucheng brought the hungry Shenhe to Wanmin Restaurant before taking care of his minor injuries, where they ate in Master Mao’s back room. As Shenhe questioned whether mortal food could hinder cultivation, Yucheng revealed that her adepti elders secretly enjoyed fine food and were poor cooks, leaving her stunned.

  • Shenhe supported Yucheng to Wanmin Restaurant after her stomach growled, and Master Mao recognized Yucheng from Xiangling’s visit earlier that day.
  • Yucheng falsely claimed Xiangling had left him on Mt. Tianheng, and Master Mao apologized and offered to cover his medical costs and meal.
  • Yucheng asked Master Mao to serve specialties and extra vegetarian dishes for Shenhe, and Master Mao seated them in his back room.
  • Shenhe sampled little food and explained that she feared fine flavors would distract her from cultivation.
  • Yucheng told Shenhe that her adepti elders ate plainly because they were animals who could not cook, and that Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver secretly sought out particular dishes in Liyue.

Ch. 20The Divine Damsel of Devastation?

Yucheng asked Shenhe to help retrieve a Mingxia Floating Life Stone from the abandoned abode of the Sea of Clouds, Sea of Moonlight Adeptus, and she agreed. On their way to find her an inn, they stopped to hear Liu Su tell the legend of The Divine Damsel of Devastation, which left Shenhe listening to a story about a girl whose fate resembled her own.

  • Yucheng asked Shenhe to help him retrieve a Mingxia Floating Life Stone from the Sea of Clouds, Sea of Moonlight Adeptus's abandoned abode near Mt. Tianheng, and she agreed.
  • Yucheng paid for their meal despite Master Mao's offer to treat them, then took Shenhe to look for an inn instead of letting her sleep outdoors.
  • Yucheng and Shenhe stopped at Heyu Teahouse when Liu Su began telling The Divine Damsel of Devastation.
  • Liu Su told how a little girl slew a monster threatening her village, was taken in by the adepti, and could never return to the mortal world.
  • Liu Su announced that Yun of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe was rehearsing a new opera based on The Divine Damsel of Devastation.

Ch. 21Retrieving the Treasure

After Shenhe recognized herself in Liu Su’s retelling, Yucheng helped her settle in Liyue and treated his injuries at Bubu Pharmacy. The next morning, they retrieved an enormous Mingxia Floating Life Stone and brought it to A-Xu and his young master at the southern city gate.

  • Shenhe listened as Liu Su told her tragic story as a heroic comedy, while Zhongli praised the performance and asked to hear Yun’s new opera.
  • Yucheng booked Shenhe a room at an inn, then visited the Feiyun Commerce Guild and returned to Bubu Pharmacy, where Baizhu treated his wounds and Qiqi prepared medicine.
  • Yucheng and Shenhe traveled to Mt. Tianheng and found the Sea of Clouds, Sea of Moonlight Adeptus’s abode after Shenhe dispelled its concealment.
  • Shenhe carried the enormous Mingxia Floating Life Stone from the abode to Liyue’s southern city gate.
  • A-Xu and his young master recognized the stone as a Mingxia Floating Life Stone and realized they had found something extraordinary.

Ch. 22A safekeeping contract

Yucheng entrusted the enormous Mingxia Floating Life Stone to the Feiyun Commerce Guild after Xingqiu estimated it could fetch over two hundred million Mora but explained that finding a buyer would be difficult. Yucheng and Xingqiu signed a flexible safekeeping contract, leaving the stone in the guild’s care while they sought a buyer.

  • Yucheng arrived at Liyue’s southern city gate with Shenhe, who carried the Mingxia Floating Life Stone, and met A-Xu and Xingqiu.
  • Yucheng introduced Shenhe to Xingqiu and explained that he had found the stone in the abandoned abode of the Sea of Clouds, Sea of Moonlight Adeptus.
  • Xingqiu estimated that the Feiyun Commerce Guild could auction the stone for over two hundred million Mora, but warned that its size and the Jade Chamber could make buyers wary.
  • Yucheng agreed to leave the stone in the guild’s safekeeping and let the guild seek a buyer, with fees deducted from the sale proceeds.
  • Yucheng and Xingqiu signed a flexible safekeeping contract.

Ch. 23Smuggle it over, even at the cost of social death

After Shenhe stored the enormous Mingxia Floating Life Stone, Xingqiu invited Yucheng and Shenhe to Xinyue Kiosk, where Yucheng told him that his novel was popular in Inazuma. Eager to send more of his work to Yae Publishing House despite the Sakoku Decree, Xingqiu rushed off to seek a way to smuggle it across, while Yucheng privately anticipated his embarrassment.

  • Shenhe carried the Mingxia Floating Life Stone to a Feiyun Commerce Guild warehouse, and Xingqiu stayed with Yucheng after A-Xu returned to work.
  • Xingqiu invited Yucheng and Shenhe to Xinyue Kiosk, hoping to learn more about Shenhe, but she ignored his attempts to draw her into conversation.
  • Yucheng told Xingqiu that Record of Sinking Autumn's Sword had become a hit in Inazuma, revealing that Xingqiu's pen name, Zhenyu, was well regarded there.
  • Xingqiu decided to contact Captain Beidou and smuggle more of his novel into Inazuma despite the Sakoku Decree.
  • Xingqiu left the restaurant determined to act, and Yucheng explained to Shenhe that he was heading toward possible social death.

Ch. 24The truth behind the fate of calamity

Yucheng discovered that Shenhe’s baleful energy came from Archon Residue, not a fate of loneliness and calamity, and explained how it had shaped her life. Shenhe trusted his promise to take her to someone who could remove the contamination.

  • Yucheng used Genjutsu to expose Shenhe to ordinary conflicts, but she killed or injured 157 people in the illusions after losing control.
  • Yucheng asked Shenhe about her childhood, and she recalled that her uncontrollable baleful energy began after Cloud Retainer rescued her from the cave.
  • Yucheng concluded that Shenhe had been contaminated by Archon Residue while resisting the god’s resentment in the cave, which led Moon Carver to mistake her condition for a disastrous fate.
  • Yucheng told Shenhe that the contamination, rather than her being cursed, had caused her baleful energy and assured her that her parents’ deaths were not her fault.
  • Shenhe asked who could cure Archon Residue, and Yucheng promised to take her to someone who could help; she said she trusted him.

Ch. 25Hello, Rex Lapis!

Hu Tao worried over Zhongli's absence and Wangsheng Funeral Parlor's declining business, then brought him back when Yucheng and Shenhe came looking for him. Zhongli met the pair, and Yucheng greeted him as Rex Lapis.

  • Hu Tao fretted over Zhongli's unpaid bills and the funeral parlor's shrinking business.
  • Yucheng and Shenhe entered Wangsheng Funeral Parlor looking for Zhongli, but Hu Tao tried to sell them funeral services first.
  • Hu Tao went to find Zhongli after learning the visitors had a request for him.
  • Hu Tao returned with Zhongli, who recognized Shenhe as a girl from Cloud Retainer's household.
  • Yucheng greeted Zhongli with, "Hello, Rex Lapis!"
