Appearance
- Build: Tall and slender 247.
- Clothing: Wears a vest during the Sunagakure campaign; Tsunade lifts the bloodstained garment to treat her lower-back wound 99.
- Visible chakra effects: Her Scorch Release can produce enough heat to distort the air around her 160.
Personality
Pakura initially places absolute faith in Sunagakure. She rejects Yūto's recruitment attempts, dismisses his warning about political betrayal, and immediately volunteers for another dangerous mission after returning from captivity. Learning that her own leaders have sold her to Kirigakure devastates her and breaks that loyalty 91 96 98.
She is protective of her students and reluctant to harm former comrades. During her fight with Yūto, she redirects attacks rather than strike Maki or another Sunagakure ninja. Even after defecting, she admits that she does not want to fight ordinary Sunagakure troops 87 89 108. Her anger toward the leadership persists, however, and she later attacks an exam delegation explicitly to exact revenge 247 248.
With Yūto, Pakura becomes openly affectionate, jealous, and assertive. Her pursuit also crosses boundaries: she drugs him and later admits making advances while he was asleep, prompting Mikoto to forbid a repetition 114 117 162. Despite her competitiveness toward Ringo, she accepts sharing a relationship with Tsunade and Tsukimi 161 170 172. Outside her close circle, she maintains a cool manner and dislikes unnecessary social pleasantries 206.
Abilities & Skills
Scorch Release
Pakura possesses the Scorch Release kekkei genkai, a major reason she is counted among Sunagakure's strongest ninja and sought by Yūto for the Uchiha Clan 86 91.
- Scorch Release: Extremely Steaming Murder: Creates an orange-red fireball. One redirected attack vaporizes sand and leaves a charred crater three meters across 89.
- Severe burning damage: A fireball chars Baki's right arm and half his shoulder when he attempts to escape 105.
- Attack control: Can forcibly redirect a launched fireball to avoid allies. Yūto exploits this restraint by placing Maki and a controlled Sunagakure ninja in her line of fire 89.
- Chakra recognition: Detects chakra resembling Scorch Release before discovering Hinata fighting with incandescent orbs in Rōran 210.
Taijutsu and Combat Reactions
- Continues exchanging rapid blows with Yūto after his opening kick cracks the bones in her forearms; surrounding ninja cannot clearly follow their movements 89.
- Is described as slightly stronger than Baki, although he can keep her occupied while Rasa fights Yūto 104.
- Cannot decisively overpower an entire Sunagakure delegation led by Baki without difficulty. Her later success against that group also depends on its fear of retaliation from Yūto 248.
Command and Intelligence
- Frontline leadership: Takes command of Sunagakure's forces and plans to lure Konoha troops out of Outpost Seven for a decisive battle 86 87.
- Battlefield coordination: Orders Wind Release users to tear an opening through Yūto's advancing flames 89.
- Sunagakure intelligence: Knows Bunpuku's condition, his concealed location, the temple's guard rotations, and the purpose of its tailed-beast-sealing teapot 99 100 101.
- Exam supervision: Explains the Heaven and Earth Scroll trial, oversees distribution, and prevents Chino from taking two scrolls 250.
History
Sunagakure Commander and Capture
After Sunagakure suffers losses against Uchiha ninja, Pakura volunteers to replace its frontline commander. With Tsunade nearing an antidote to Sunagakure's poison, she orders an attack on Outpost Seven and prepares an ambush. Her disciple Maki volunteers for the decoy squad, which captures Yūto without recognizing him 86 87.
Yūto turns the encounter against Pakura by using Maki as a shield, burning through the Sunagakure ranks, and closing into taijutsu range. He injures Pakura's arms and repeatedly exploits her unwillingness to hit allies. After subduing Maki with Sharingan genjutsu, he uses her safety to stop Pakura's resistance and has both captives' chakra sealed at the Konoha outpost 89.
During captivity, Pakura angrily refuses Yūto's proposal that she join the Uchiha. She remains confident in Sunagakure even when he warns her through a story about a loyal knight sold out by his king 91 93 96.
Betrayal and Defection
Baki proposes trading Pakura to Kirigakure for a ceasefire, citing the many Kirigakure ninja she has killed. Rasa and the elders approve the plan as part of a wider scheme to feign surrender to Konoha before launching another attack 94.
After Pakura returns to Sunagakure, Rasa sends her toward the Kirigakure front while keeping Maki behind. Baki then engineers an apparent opportunity for an infiltration mission, prompting Pakura to volunteer. A Sunagakure spy escorts her into a secluded valley, where a Kirigakure ninja stabs her in the lower back and reveals the bargain 96 98.
The revelation leaves Pakura unwilling to resist her attacker. Yūto intervenes before she is killed, drives the attacker away, and takes her to a cave. Overwhelmed by the betrayal and his rescue, she accepts his invitation to join the Uchiha Clan 98.
The One-Tail Operation
Back at Konoha's camp, Tsunade heals Pakura's wound. Yūto personally vouches for her when Hiashi hesitates to admit a former enemy to a strategy meeting. Pakura then reveals that Bunpuku is nearing death and proposes taking the One-Tail during Sunagakure's transfer preparations 99.
She accompanies Yūto to Bunpuku's temple, providing intelligence on its security and identifying the teapot intended to hold Shukaku. When Bunpuku detects them, Pakura acknowledges that she has left Sunagakure and reluctantly prepares to fight 100 101.
During their subsequent confrontation with Rasa and Baki, Pakura denounces both men for selling her out. Baki keeps her occupied while Rasa attacks Yūto, but she later severely burns Baki as he attempts to flee. She returns to Konoha with Yūto after he becomes Shukaku's jinchūriki 104 105 106.
Although she assists against Sunagakure's leadership, Pakura declines to fight another squad of her former comrades. Yūto accepts her decision and leaves her in camp 108.
Life in Konoha
Yūto makes the withdrawal of Pakura's missing-nin warrant a condition of peace with Sunagakure. She and Maki accompany him back to Konoha, where he seeks her registration and introduces her to Fugaku as a prospective bride for the clan 112 113.
Pakura instead tells Mikoto that she wants to marry Yūto and moves into his home with Maki. She drugs both of their tea cups so Maki cannot interrupt her plans. After she later raises the possibility of pregnancy, Tsunade confirms that she is not pregnant, and Mikoto warns her not to cross that boundary again 114 117.
Her relationship with Yūto eventually becomes explicit: she kisses him, admits that she loves him, and asks to join his relationship with Tsunade. Tsunade accepts the arrangement. Pakura later introduces herself to Tsukimi as Yūto's girlfriend, and the three women ultimately accommodate one another 161 162 169 170 172.
Rōran Expedition
Pakura accompanies Yūto and Kazahana Sōsetsu to Rōran as a guard. There, the party discovers that the city's apparent crowds are wooden puppets and becomes involved in Sara's struggle against Anrokuzan 206 207.
She advises Sara to formally commission a rescue mission for her imprisoned people. While following Sara, Pakura detects Scorch Release-like chakra and encounters Hinata protecting civilians. Hinata addresses Pakura as her teacher 210.
After the installation of a water device, Pakura urges Sara to build canals. When Yūto leaves to arrange food supplies, he asks her to look after Sōsetsu. Three years after the prevention of the Nine-Tails incident, she is again staying in Rōran, this time on vacation 215 216 241.
Revenge and the Chūnin Exams
Pakura intercepts Baki's delegation on its way to Konoha's Chūnin Exams. Faced with accusations of treason, she publicly reveals that Rasa and the village leadership sold her to Kirigakure. She makes clear that she has come for revenge rather than to prove her innocence 247.
The delegation reaches Konoha injured and humiliated. Its members had held back because Pakura was Yūto's publicly acknowledged girlfriend and they feared provoking him. Yūto learns what happened and does not rebuke her 248.
Pakura subsequently serves as head examiner for the Forest of Death round, with Tsukimi as her assistant. She stops Chino from taking an extra scroll and refuses a replacement draw to a team whose case is empty 250.
