Ch. 202The Third Hokage's curtain call, part one

Yūto destroyed Danzo’s Root Headquarters and captured Danzo alive, while the Third Hokage chose to pursue Orochimaru himself. Minato learned how Danzo had been restrained and took charge of the investigation and remaining fallout.

  • The Third Hokage asked Yūto to leave Orochimaru to him, then led ANBU toward Orochimaru’s underground hideout.
  • Yūto ordered Tekka and the Konoha Military Police Force to guard Root Headquarters while he returned to the Hokage Building with the ANBU.
  • Yūto told Minato that Root was under control and presented Danzo, who had been confined in an earthenware pot.
  • Yūto explained that he had restrained Danzo because of his crimes and the risk he posed, and Minato accepted the explanation while urging restraint in future.
  • Minato agreed that the Third Hokage should handle Orochimaru and said he would oversee the investigation of Root and the next steps concerning Danzo.

Ch. 203The Third Hokage's curtain call, part two

After Orochimaru defected, Hiruzen handed the remaining ANBU to Yūto and left office, marking the end of his era as Hokage. Minato assigned Yūto to arrange a goodwill delegation’s reception, and Yūto put Chino and Izumi in charge of welcoming Princess Koyuki while he would receive Daimyō Sōsetsu.

  • Yūto learned that Hiruzen had spared Orochimaru, who then defected from Konoha.

  • Yūto stopped Sōsetsu from calling Koyuki back and let the three girls enjoy their reunion.
  • Yūto hosted Sōsetsu at a hot spring, where Sōsetsu lamented how little of the Land of Snow he had warmed with geothermal energy.
  • Yūto told Sōsetsu that Rōran possessed a Dragon Vein several times larger than the Land of Snow’s geothermal chakra source.
  • Sōsetsu excitedly asked Yūto to escort him to Rōran, and Yūto said he would discuss the request with the Hokage the next day.

Ch. 205Intelligence on Rōran

Kazahana Sōsetsu commissioned Konoha to investigate Rōran’s Dragon Vein as a possible geothermal energy source for the Land of Snow, and insisted that Yūto escort him. Pakura agreed to join the mission, partly because she had once served in Rōran.

  • Kazahana Sōsetsu asked Minato to accept a mission investigating Rōran’s Dragon Vein for geothermal heating, and Minato approved it.
  • Kazahana Sōsetsu requested Yūto as his escort, and Minato assigned Yūto to the mission.

  • Yūto introduced Pakura as his girlfriend to Sōsetsu before the group departed for Rōran.
  • After several days of travel, the party found Rōran eerily silent and its apparent celebrating crowds revealed to be wooden puppets.
  • Yūto spotted Naruto near a low wall and led Pakura and Sōsetsu after him.
  • The group saw Queen Sara waving to the puppet citizens from a terrace.
  • Black hands reached out behind Sara and sent her falling, while Pakura and a faster golden figure moved to rescue her.

Ch. 207Sara

Naruto rescued Sara, who discovered that the celebrants in the streets were wooden puppets, and she ran toward the palace to find Anrokuzan. Yūto, Pakura, Kazahana Sōsetsu, and Naruto pursued her, but Mukade’s puppet soldiers attacked them before Yūto destroyed the puppets with a miniature Tailed Beast Bomb.

  • Naruto caught Sara as she fell, but she slapped him before realizing he had saved her and apologizing.
  • Sara saw that the apparent crowds celebrating below were wooden puppets and ran off to find Anrokuzan.
  • Yūto, Pakura, and Kazahana Sōsetsu joined Naruto and followed Sara toward the palace.
  • Mukade’s mechanical puppet soldiers ambushed the group and fired a chakra beam at Naruto.
  • Yūto used Partial Tailed Beast Transformation to fire a miniature Tailed Beast Bomb and vaporize the attacking puppets.

Ch. 208The truth

Yūto’s group continued after Sara, while Sara discovered that Anrokuzan had taken her citizens’ families and that the people still risked themselves to protect her. With her trust in Anrokuzan broken, she fled to seek help from the ninja.

  • Naruto and Kazahana Sōsetsu reacted to the crater Yūto had made, while Pakura pinched Yūto for calling someone a rogue-ninja clown before the group resumed the chase.
  • Sara ran through the palace, and surviving citizens of Rōran pulled her into a hidden storeroom.
  • A young woman begged Sara to return her husband, and another citizen told Sara that Anrokuzan had taken their families away.
  • Sara rejected the accusation and tried to return to the palace to confront Anrokuzan, but puppets appeared to capture her.
  • The citizens formed a human wall to help Sara escape, shattering her remaining trust in Anrokuzan.
  • Sara ran away from the palace to seek help from the ninja.

Ch. 209Rescue

Yūto’s group searched for Naruto’s missing teammate while Yūto explained that the Dragon Vein had sent them into the past. Hinata, revealed as Naruto’s teammate instead of Sakura, rescued fleeing citizens from puppets but was soon surrounded.

  • Sara ran toward the explosion, hoping to find the powerful ninja who could help her.
  • Naruto told Yūto that a teammate was missing, and Yūto reassured him they would find her.
  • Yūto told Naruto that the Dragon Vein had transported them into the past, shocking Naruto and stirring Kazahana Sōsetsu’s curiosity about its power.
  • Hinata used Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm to disable several puppets and direct citizens toward safety.
  • More puppets surrounded Hinata as citizens escaped, and she prepared to use the Kekkei Genkai her teacher had taught her.

Ch. 210A plea for help

  • Pakura advised Sara to formally issue a rescue mission, and Sara asked Yūto and his companions to defeat Anrokuzan and free the prisoners.
  • Yūto asked Kazahana Sōsetsu for permission to take the mission, and Sōsetsu agreed before Yūto accepted Sara’s request.
  • Pakura sensed chakra resembling Scorch Release as the group followed Sara and found Hinata defending civilians from more than a dozen puppets.
  • Yūto destroyed the puppets, Naruto checked on Hinata, and Hinata respectfully addressed Pakura as her teacher.

Ch. 211The Culprit Was Also a Grain of Sand

Yūto led the group toward the Dragon Vein after destroying another puppet army, then confronted Anrokuzan at the palace’s sealed core. He overwhelmed Anrokuzan’s self-repairing giant puppet with overwhelming flames and left him dead, reduced to ash.

  • Pakura explained to Hinata that she and Naruto had traveled back from the future, and Hinata realized Pakura was younger than the teacher she remembered.
  • Yūto destroyed a second puppet army, learned from Sara that Anrokuzan was likely at the Dragon Vein’s core, and left the others to protect the citizens and Sōsetsu.
  • Yūto broke through the sealed gate and confronted Anrokuzan, who hid inside a giant puppet powered by the Dragon Vein and able to repair itself.
  • Yūto created two Shukaku clones, and the three of them engulfed Anrokuzan’s puppet in flames.
  • Anrokuzan’s repairs fell behind as the heat intensified, and his puppet melted away while he was reduced to ash.

Ch. 212Go back, Naruto

Yūto defeated Anrokuzan and prepared to send Naruto and Hinata back to their own time using Rōran’s Dragon Vein. As they vanished, he urged Naruto to treat Hinata well, leaving Naruto bewildered and Hinata blushing.

  • Pakura led the group to the Royal Palace, where they found its main structure destroyed and Anrokuzan reduced to ash and metal slag.
  • Sōsetsu examined the Dragon Vein core while Yūto told Naruto and Hinata they could not remain in the past or risk changing history.
  • Hinata received permission to speak privately with Pakura, while Yūto asked Sōsetsu to prepare the Dragon Vein to send the two travelers home.
  • A few hours later, Sōsetsu activated the Dragon Vein, and Naruto and Hinata leaped into its pillar of light.
  • As Naruto and Hinata disappeared, Yūto shouted that Naruto should treat Hinata well, making Naruto stare in confusion and Hinata blush.

Ch. 213Even a queen had to haul bricks

After Yūto sealed the dragon vein, Sara freed Rōran’s imprisoned citizens and faced the task of rebuilding their devastated home. With her people’s support, she set aside her elaborate robes and joined them in clearing the puppet factory ruins.

  • Yūto sealed the dragon vein with five layers of inscriptions and opened a small outlet to draw chakra steadily.
  • Pakura reminded Sara to rescue the people trapped in the factory, and Sara told them Anrokuzan was dead and the Konoha Ninja had defeated him.
  • Sara apologized for failing to protect her people, but a middle-aged man urged her to look toward the future and rebuild Rōran together.
  • Sara and the freed citizens vowed to rebuild, and people began opening the remaining cells to search for loved ones.
  • Sara borrowed a kunai from Pakura, cut her robes into practical work clothes, tied back her hair, and joined the effort to clear away the broken puppets.

Ch. 214Her Majesty Has So Much Water

Yūto asked Kazahana Sōsetsu to harness the Dragon Vein for water and offensive ninjutsu, while Rōran’s people struggled with shortages and considered relocating. After half a month of research, Sōsetsu unveiled a device that produced an enormous flow of water, giving Rōran hope of survival without leaving its homeland.

  • Yūto asked Kazahana Sōsetsu whether the Dragon Vein could power Water Release, and Sōsetsu agreed to research a water source for Rōran.
  • Yūto also asked Sōsetsu to research using the Dragon Vein to cast offensive ninjutsu, and Sōsetsu added it to his plans.
  • After half a month, Rōran’s people cleared the ruins but faced severe shortages of water, building materials, food, and daily necessities.
  • Rōran’s elders urged Sara to consider relocating, and Sara reluctantly agreed to consider the proposal.
  • Pakura took Sara, the elders, and other representatives to see a new canal project near the former Royal Palace.
  • Kazahana Sōsetsu demonstrated a Dragon Vein-powered Water Release device that poured out a vast torrent, easing fears that Rōran would have to relocate.

Ch. 215Compromise

After the water device began supplying Rōran, Sara invited Sōsetsu to serve as her minister, but learned he was the Daimyō of the Land of Snow. As Rōran’s food ran low, Yūto arranged to return to Konoha for supplies, then went into Pakura’s room for the night.

  • Pakura urged Sara to build canals, and Sara thanked Sōsetsu for creating the water device.
  • Sara asked Sōsetsu to become a minister, but he refused because he ruled the Land of Snow and encouraged her to keep learning.
  • Sōsetsu said he would stay in Rōran to oversee the device, while secretly planning to use dragon vein energy for Yūto’s weapons experiment.
  • As Rōran’s food reserves dwindled, Yūto proposed delivering food from the Land of Fire through a Konoha mission and offered to handle it himself.
  • Yūto asked Pakura to look after Sōsetsu while he was away, then stayed in her room after she pointed out how late it was.

Ch. 216Land of Rain

Sara accidentally interrupted Yūto and Pakura during a private test of Yūto’s Tailed Beast Transformation, and Yūto left Rōran for Konoha the next morning. In the Land of Rain, Obito visited Akatsuki’s base and met Yahiko, who welcomed him inside despite doubting his claim to be Madara Uchiha.

  • Sara broke into Pakura’s room after hearing strange noises and found Yūto and Pakura together.

  • Obito entered Akatsuki’s base after Yahiko let him in, and Yahiko introduced him to Konan and Nagato as a strange man claiming to be Madara Uchiha.
  • After dinner, Obito stopped Nagato in the corridor and revealed that he knew Nagato possessed the Rinnegan.
  • Obito told Nagato that he was the reincarnation of the Sage of Six Paths and could use the Rinnegan to bring peace to the world.
  • Yahiko arrived, shielded Nagato, and challenged Obito’s motives.
  • Obito vanished using his space-distorting ability, and Yahiko urged Nagato to reject his claims.

Ch. 218A miraculous potion made with all-natural ingredients

Yūto returned to Konoha, arranged an urgent grain delivery to Rōran, and agreed to investigate the supposed Madara Uchiha in the Land of Rain. Before he could leave, Tsunade stopped him to try the potion she had made to restore his Mangekyō vision, whose unusual ingredient left Yíngsháo embarrassed.

  • Yūto told Minato that Rōran needed emergency grain, and Minato authorized an A-Rank delivery mission led by Yūto.
  • Minato reported that a mysterious person claiming to be Madara Uchiha had contacted the Akatsuki near Amegakure, and Yūto decided to investigate after delivering the grain.
  • Minato told Yūto that Tsukimi might be near the Land of Grass's border with the Land of Rain, and Yūto agreed to try to contact her.
  • Yūto collected and sealed the grain into giant scrolls, then Tsunade dragged him to her laboratory before he could leave.
  • Tsunade showed Yūto the eye drops she had prepared, and Yūto used a drop while Yíngsháo blushed beside him.

Ch. 219Next stop, the Land of Rain

Yūto received Tsunade’s Azure Water medicine for his worsening vision and returned to Rōran with food before setting out for the Land of Rain to investigate reports of Madara Uchiha. He planned to seek help from Tsukimi, while Pakura stayed behind to oversee Rōran.

  • Tsunade gave Yūto Azure Water, which eased the blurriness and fatigue in his right eye, and said he would need ongoing treatment.
  • After Yūto left, Yíngsháo reluctantly agreed to gather more of the medicine’s raw material for him.
  • Yūto returned to Rōran in two days and delivered the food scrolls to Sara, who thanked him for helping the village.
  • Yūto told Pakura he had to leave immediately to confirm reports that Madara Uchiha had appeared in the Land of Rain.
  • Pakura agreed to watch over Rōran, and Yūto set off for the Land of Rain, planning to contact Tsukimi near the border.

Ch. 220Investigating the Akatsuki

Ch. 221Contact and Suspicion

Yūto and Tsukimi went to the Akatsuki base to make contact and learn more about Madara, while Yahiko confronted Nagato about his growing doubts. Yahiko welcomed the Konoha visitors into the base, where Yūto heard the Akatsuki’s ideal of peace and teased Yahiko about teaching kindergarten.

  • Tsukimi urged Yūto not to approach Madara alone, and they decided to travel together to contact the Akatsuki.
  • Yahiko asked Nagato why he had become withdrawn and pressed him on whether Madara had shaken his resolve, but Nagato stayed silent.
  • An Akatsuki guard reported that Uchiha Yūto and Uchiha Tsukimi from Konoha had arrived to see Yahiko.
  • Yahiko led Yūto and Tsukimi into the base despite the guards’ suspicion, and Yūto complimented the organization’s setup.
  • Yahiko said the Akatsuki would fight to end war and establish peace, and Yūto teased him about teaching at a future Konoha kindergarten.

Ch. 222Psychological tactics

Yūto challenged Yahiko’s faith in Hanzō and argued that Akatsuki lacked the strength to achieve peace. After learning Madara Uchiha had left, Yūto prepared to go, but persuaded Yahiko to invite him to stay by appearing reluctant.

  • Yūto told Yahiko that Hanzō could view Akatsuki’s growing influence as a threat to his power, but Yahiko defended Hanzō’s desire for peace.
  • Tsukimi told Yahiko that they had come about Madara Uchiha, and Yahiko said Madara had stayed only one night before leaving.
  • Yūto decided to leave because Madara was gone, but Yahiko stopped him to ask for advice about strength and the obstacles to peace.
  • Yūto initially claimed they had no time to stay, prompting Yahiko to invite him and Tsukimi to rest at the hideout.
  • Yūto accepted Yahiko’s invitation, having planned to make Yahiko’s own request establish Akatsuki’s acceptance of their stay.

Ch. 223Meeting Nagato

Yūto and Tsukimi stayed at Akatsuki’s base so Yūto could assess Nagato and determine how much the man calling himself Madara had influenced him. At dinner, Yūto finally spotted Nagato, the key person he had come to investigate.

  • Yahiko arranged a room for Yūto and Tsukimi inside Akatsuki’s base.
  • Yūto told Tsukimi he needed to see Nagato and judge the atmosphere at the base to understand Madara’s influence.
  • Yūto and Tsukimi shared a quiet moment before Tsukimi scolded him for getting too familiar while they were on a mission.

  • Nagato reluctantly greeted Yūto and Tsukimi after Yahiko introduced them, then withdrew into silence.
  • Yahiko asked Yūto what Akatsuki needed to achieve peace in the Land of Rain.
  • An Akatsuki member interrupted and accused the Konoha guests of looking down on them and possibly spying on Akatsuki.

  • Tsukimi offered to fight the member instead, and he accepted the challenge.
  • Yūto assured Yahiko that Tsukimi could hold back, while Yahiko realized the confrontation could no longer be avoided.
