Power Progression
Sōkyū’s growth is tracked through numerical attributes and skill proficiency rather than formal ninja promotions. The system lists a maximum of 100 for each displayed attribute 1.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Initial system gains | 1 | His first two check-ins grant Chakra +1 and Strength +1. Completing 1,000 sword swings grants Swordsmanship +1; his third check-in grants Physique +1. |
| Six Powers: Soru—beginner | 10 | Earned by completing 1,000 sword swings and 1,000 frog jumps. His first test ends with him crashing into a training post. |
| Chakra Extraction and Three Body Techniques—perfect | 15 | Pays 100,000 yen to accelerate the system’s analysis of Kakashi’s scrolls, instantly perfecting Chakra Extraction, Transformation, Clone, and Substitution. |
| Points shop unlocked | 21 | Receives 200 points for the deaths of two Root ninja. The system begins a 24-hour update while keeping its other functions available. |
| Inuyasha Skill Pack—beginner | 24 26 | Obtained through a minor critical check-in reward during his first six months of training. Its Wind Scar technique is adapted to consume chakra, limiting its early power. |
| Kami-e and Iron Body—demonstrated | 25 | Executes Kami-e with perfect timing against Kakashi’s Chidori, then uses Iron Body to stop a retaliatory strike. Kami-e had been obtained through a check-in the previous month. |
| Expanded beginner-level skill set | 26 | His panel additionally confirms Finger Pistol and Geppo, alongside Soru, Kami-e, Iron Body, and the Inuyasha Skill Pack. He believes an ordinary Chūnin would no longer defeat him. |
| Rumble-Rumble Fruit—beginner; Bakusaiga acquired | 27 | His 365th consecutive Hokage Rock check-in awards the fruit, Bakusaiga, and one perfect-level skill upgrade. Eating the fruit grants electrical powers. |
| Rumble-Rumble Fruit—perfect | 27 | Immediately spends the upgrade on the fruit. The system removes its weakness of becoming powerless upon contact with water. |
| Special Jōnin-level attack power—assessment only | 48 | After their duel, Orochimaru assesses his attack power at this level when combat experience is excluded. This is not a formal rank, and Sōkyū still loses decisively. |

- Tempest Kick is offered as a beginner-level daily mission reward, but its acquisition is not shown in the supplied chapters 26.
- Sage Mode is a prospective graduation reward, not an acquired ability. The mission requires graduation after more than six months but within one year of enrollment 43.
Background / History
Before arriving in Konoha, Sōkyū was an Earth student who had finished his college entrance examinations and spent several nights awake. He awakens in the Naruto world in Konoha Year 41, inhabiting the four-year-old younger son of Sakumo Hatake and retaining knowledge of the original story and other anime 1.
The original child had been struck unconscious by a rock thrown by another child as hostility toward Sakumo spread to his sons. When the transmigrated Sōkyū awakens, Sakumo is already dead by suicide. His farewell letter blames himself for his younger son’s injury and the condemnation directed at the family 1.
With both parents dead, Sōkyū and Kakashi are the Hatake Clan’s remaining members. Sōkyū takes responsibility for meals while Kakashi spends much of his time away. He prioritizes gaining enough strength to protect himself, preserve the clan, and free Kakashi from what he views as the village leadership’s influence 1 2 4.
Appearance
- Hair: Short and white, a recognizable Hatake family trait 1 31.
- Face: Strongly resembles Kakashi; the narration initially describes the resemblance as roughly seventy percent 1.
- Unmasked features: Unlike Kakashi, he leaves his face uncovered and attracts attention for his handsome appearance 44.
- Clothing: Initially wears a casual white robe resembling Hyūga clothing. For Sakumo’s funeral, he borrows an old black robe from Kakashi 1 3 4.
- Growth: By the annual check-in, his height is barely different from Kakashi’s, although his face remains visibly childish 27.
Personality
Sōkyū deliberately uses his young appearance to conceal his hostility and intentions. He performs the role of an admiring, loyal child for Hiruzen and Danzō, tailoring his stated ambitions to their expectations. His declarations about protecting loved ones, becoming Hokage, and serving the village are frequently calculated responses rather than candid statements of loyalty 3 12 13 18.
He is practical about survival: he seeks Orochimaru’s protection before he can defend himself, relocates training when he suspects surveillance, and removes evidence after fighting Root. His willingness to kill attackers and propose Uchiha Yenka’s elimination also makes him considerably more ruthless than his playful behavior suggests 6 8 15 21 34.
Around Kakashi, he is affectionate but relentlessly provocative. He jokes about Rin, exploits his higher standing in their teaching lineage, and frequently turns sparring into mischief. Beneath the teasing, he worries about Kakashi’s emotional burdens and wants him to recover from their father’s death 8 18 25 41.
Although restoring Sakumo’s honor becomes a central goal, Sōkyū privately acknowledges that he lacks a deep personal bond with him: Sakumo had already died before his arrival 41 42.
Abilities & Skills
Quests + Check-In System
Sōkyū’s principal growth mechanism provides attribute increases, techniques, items, and additional functions 1 15 21.
- Daily missions: Completing the day’s task grants one check-in attempt. Exercise repetitions count only when performed according to the system’s required movements and force application 1 9 10.
- Hokage Rock rewards: Consecutive check-ins build toward a critical reward after 365 days 1 27.
- Technique analysis: Can analyze training scrolls and transfer the results directly to him. The beginner offer lets him spend 100,000 yen to complete a seven-day analysis immediately at perfect proficiency 15.
- System space: Stores objects, including the bodies of defeated Root ninja 21.
- Points shop: Unlocked after his first 200-point combat reward 21.
Chakra Control and Ninjutsu
His Chakra Paper tests identify Water, Earth, and Lightning natures. He repeats the test with a second sheet to confirm the result 19.
- Perfect Chakra Extraction: Uses a system-optimized posture that differs from the scroll’s instructions, rapidly accumulating chakra throughout his body 15.
- Perfect Three Body Techniques: Masters Transformation, Clone, and Substitution. Initially, a single Substitution exhausts his tiny chakra reserve despite his proficiency 15.
- Shadow Clone Technique: Leaves a clone attending Academy lessons while he trains elsewhere, and receives its memories when it disperses 47 48 49.
- Limits: Skill mastery does not eliminate chakra costs or compensate automatically for low reserves 15 24.
Six Powers
His confirmed Six Powers skills provide movement, evasion, defense, and close-range options 26.
- Soru: Produces explosive movement through dozens of rapid ground stamps within roughly 0.36 seconds. It requires no chakra; early use suffers from poor control. He later combines it with lightning to increase his speed 10 13 45.
- Kami-e: Relaxes the body to evade attacks with paper-like flexibility. He uses it against Kakashi’s Chidori and Orochimaru’s Kusanagi thrust 25 47.
- Iron Body: Hardens his trained body to an iron-like state, stopping Kakashi’s retaliatory Thousand Years of Death 25.
- Finger Pistol and Geppo: Both appear at beginner proficiency on his status panel; the supplied passages do not show their applications 26.
- Instruction: Teaches Orochimaru the fundamentals of Soru, giving their claim that Orochimaru taught him the technique a workable cover 14.
Rumble-Rumble Fruit
The perfect-level fruit grants powerful electrical abilities without its original water-contact weakness 27.
- Electrical attacks: Uses Thunderclap and Thunderbird, and coordinates lightning attacks with Pikachu 28 45.
- Mantra: Senses surrounding presences, detects activity outside his field of vision, and can anticipate movement. He uses it to discover where Hiruzen hides their agreement 29 30.
- Body restoration: Allows Kakashi’s Lightning Blade to pass through his chest, leaving a lightning-filled opening that returns to its original state 41.
- Lightning Hell: Destroys Orochimaru’s Shadow Clones and breaks him out of the Four Black Snakes Formation 47.
- Thunder God Descent: Draws lightning from the sky into armor around his body 47.
- God’s Relic: Forms a gigantic lightning sword, described as his strongest strike at the time 47.
- Limits: His ultimate attack leaves him almost unable to move. Orochimaru attributes this exhaustion to harnessing natural power beyond what his current body can comfortably handle 48.
Swordsmanship and Wind Scar
Sword practice is a recurring system task and a major component of his fighting style 1 9 26.
- Wind Scar: Releases five blades of sword energy. Even a wooden sword can produce a version strong enough to shred Kakashi’s substitution log 24.
- Chakra adaptation: The system modifies the Inuyasha skills to consume chakra, initially forcing him to use a weakened Wind Scar 24.
- Later strength: Orochimaru judges the Wind Scar released through Bakusaiga as clearly above Chūnin level 46.
Research and Political Strategy
Sōkyū uses prior-story knowledge and negotiation alongside direct combat 6 31 33.
- Immortality research: Connects the soul’s persistence in Impure World Reincarnation with the possibility of replacing an aging body through cloning, securing Orochimaru’s interest 6 7.
- Counter-deception: Forges Hiruzen’s handwriting on an agreement intended to bind the Hatake Clan, then tracks its storage location without immediately stealing it 30.
- Alliance building: Seeks cooperation with the Uchiha and Hyūga rather than relying exclusively on personal strength 31 38.
- Political analysis: Explains how police duties, public resentment, and internal factions isolate the Uchiha from village leadership 33.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Bakusaiga — Awarded by the annual critical check-in. Damage from the sword causes continuing destruction and cannot be repaired; its demonstration reduces a tree and its roots to dust. Whether it can prevent Impure World Reincarnation’s restoration remains an untested question Sōkyū wants to investigate 27 41.
- Wooden ninja blade — Used for daily sword swings and sparring with Kakashi 1 24.
- Kunai — Used to counterattack during the Root ambush 20.
- Traveling Frog — A one-use check-in reward. He activates it for a 240-hour journey through a space-time rift 11 14.
- Training scrolls — Kakashi supplies the Chakra Extraction and Three Body Technique scrolls used for system analysis 15.
- Sharingan — Possesses an Uchiha Sharingan that Orochimaru requests. Its possession does not establish that Sōkyū has implanted or can personally use it 45.
- Inherited funds — Has access to Sakumo’s substantial savings and hidden stash, which finance his first accelerated technique analysis 15.
Relationships
- Kakashi Hatake — Older brother and frequent sparring partner. Sōkyū manages affairs at home while encouraging Kakashi to earn military merit at the front. Kakashi agrees not to reveal his plans, but asks him not to act against Konoha 24 41 42.
- Sakumo Hatake — Deceased father. Sōkyū seeks to recover his honor and retaliate against those responsible for his persecution, despite having no opportunity to know him personally after transmigration 1 41 42.
- Orochimaru — Teacher, protector, research collaborator, and combat benchmark. Their arrangement exchanges protection from Danzō for Sōkyū’s future assistance and knowledge 6 7 8 48.
- Pikachu — Companion and combat partner, treated by Konoha observers as a summoning beast. Its Thunderbolt rivals an ordinary A-rank ninjutsu, and it saves Sōkyū during Root’s ambush 18 20 21.
- Hiruzen Sarutobi — Publicly addressed as “Grandpa Hokage,” but privately distrusted and blamed for enabling Sakumo’s downfall. Their apparent cooperation conceals Sōkyū’s political maneuvering 3 28 30.
- Shimura Danzō — Enemy who attempts recruitment and forced capture. Sōkyū identifies Root as the source of the rumors that drove Sakumo to suicide and refuses to become Danzō’s pawn 7 12 13 20.
- Uchiha Fugaku — Political ally whom Sōkyū approaches about restoring the Uchiha’s council position. His knowledge of Fugaku’s Mangekyō Sharingan and deteriorating vision establishes leverage 31 33 38.
- Hyūga Hiashi — Co-conspirator in a council strategy whose apparent Uchiha–Hyūga conflict helps secure their desired outcome 38.
- Teuchi and Ayame — Welcoming acquaintances at Ichiraku Ramen. Teuchi remembers Sakumo kindly, while Ayame grows close to Sōkyū and enjoys Pikachu’s company 18 21 28.
- Umino Iruka — Friendly Class A classmate who offers to share his notes from Hiruzen’s opening speech 43.
- Mitaraishi Anko — Classmate impressed by his abilities and apprenticeship. Sōkyū expects her to become his junior disciple under Orochimaru, although Orochimaru has not yet accepted her 44 48 50.
- Uchida Uchiha — Classroom rival. After Uchida insults Sakumo, Sōkyū threatens him with Bakusaiga; Uchida later resolves to surpass him 44 48.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Avoiding Root
After Sakumo’s funeral, Sōkyū secures Orochimaru’s protection by offering ideas about immortality and openly identifying Danzō as an enemy. When Danzō subsequently tries to take him to Root, he stalls until Orochimaru intervenes 6 7 8 12 13.
Root later ambushes him in the Forest of Death. With Pikachu’s help, Sōkyū kills both attackers, removes their bodies, and leaves before Anbu arrives. The investigators mistake the unfamiliar lightning traces for evidence of Kumogakure involvement, contributing to the escalating conflict between the villages 20 21 23.
Restoring Clan Influence
Once his annual check-in provides stronger personal protection, Sōkyū turns toward reclaiming the Hatake Clan’s vacant Council of Elders seat. He obtains permission to attend, circumvents Hiruzen’s agreement with a forged signature, and begins building a wider alliance 28 30 31.
He offers Fugaku a plan involving Uchiha Yenka’s elimination and prepares to use the council meeting as an alibi. The later council maneuver succeeds in securing Uchiha deployment to the Kumogakure front; Fugaku and Hiashi meet with Sōkyū afterward to discuss their success 34 35 38.
Academy Enrollment and Orochimaru’s Test
Sōkyū enters Class A under a system mission that delays his desired immediate graduation. He leaves a Shadow Clone in class while seeking practical combat experience against Orochimaru 43 47.
Their Valley of the End duel exposes the difference between his exceptional attack power and Orochimaru’s overall ability. After losing, he promises to help at the front in roughly six months and makes a graduation wager with Orochimaru’s Substitute Style as his desired prize 48 49.
Notable Quotes
“Just focus on the front line. I’ll take care of everything at home.” 41
“I’ll reclaim all the honor Father deserved, step by step!” 41
Trivia
- His apprenticeship makes him Kakashi’s senior martial uncle through the Orochimaru–Jiraiya–Minato teaching lineage. He repeatedly uses this technicality to annoy his older brother 18 19 24.
- The system explicitly imposes the six-month graduation minimum to prevent him from graduating immediately and drawing excessive attention 43.
